Gronkowski, who did not have a cast on his surgically repaired arm, said he was in "great spirits" Thursday while promoting his book "Growing up Gronk," but he had less to say when NFL.com's Albert Breer asked him about the league's crime problems.

"Ask Roger Goodell," Gronkowski said.

As for Dennard and Hernandez, Gronkowski said, "I don't have any comment on that."

Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is now the subject of a grand jury looking into the shooting death of two men in July 2012, reports the Boston Globe.

Hernandez is already behind bars and pleaded not guilty to the execution-style murder of 27-year old Odin Lloyd and is being held without bail at Bristol County House of Correction in Massachusetts. He is due in Attleboro District Court on Wednesday for a probable cause hearing.

The investigation of the killing of two Cape Verdean immigrants is now in the grand jury’s hands and it seems to be focused on Hernandez, the Globe reported. Investigators believe Hernandez drove Lloyd to an industrial park, then shot him because he was worried Lloyd had information about the South End double homicide and might talk.

Safiro Furtado and Daniel Abreu were shot early on July 16, 2012, in the South End when someone in a sport utility vehicle with Rhode Island license plates pulled up next to their car and began firing.

“The case against Hernandez appears to be strengthening,” one of the officials said. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to discuss the case.

positive notes coming out of the joint practices. reiss &co seem cautiously excited about some of the young WRs. amendola mostly looking the part. brady killing it. LB group strong and deep. sounds like it will be the secondary that kills the team again, tho on a brighter note, pat chung looks even worse as an eagle apparently.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 7 August 2013 19:09 (eleven years ago) link

is a terrible secondary like a patriots tradition now

Not sure if my ears are deceiving me, but thought I just heard a "Tebow, Tebow, Tebow" chant here at Ford Field.

Section of crowd chants, "We want Tebow!" Now boos when Ryan Mallett comes back into the game.

[Rolling Stone] also asserts that Patriots coach Bill Belichick had become so infuriated with Hernandez missing practices and demonstrating other thuggish behavior that he “was one misstep from being cut.”

that's one hell of a "misstep", murdering someone for talking about how you murdered someone else

Ras-I Dowling released. i think we are ok to conclude now that that draft pick was as terrible as everyone said it was at the time

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 28 August 2013 23:08 (eleven years ago) link

As Ross Tucker mentioned today, the Patriots have a horrible record when it comes to drafting CBs and WRs.

But Beli-chick, the winner of three Super Bowl titles and grand wizard of the greatest show on turf, had decided long before he got to New England that such niceties were beneath him.

all the way thru the article i was thinking wow, this is chock full of bullshit. then i saw yday ppl were saying this was the kind of low-grade fare typical of the borges guy, who i guess is on the globe but i have never even heard of him

Also, Mike Martz would probably be surprised to learn that Belichick was secretly coaching the Rams way back when.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 29 August 2013 15:32 (eleven years ago) link

ron borges got run out of the boston globe for plagiarism and is well-known for having a grudge against belichick that defies all logic and reason. even by sportwriter standards he's an incredibly shitty person.

hold on i believe this!

J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 August 2013 15:46 (eleven years ago) link

rs--you'll appreciate that the rumored origin of borges's insanity is that when he was a beat writer in the late 90s/early 00s his big source in the pats locker room was drew bledsoe. when drew got benched he never got over it.

this is much more irresponsible of rolling stone than the glammy marathon bomber cover.

That RS article is fantastic / awful, and this piece goes a way in explaining which parts were which: http://www.bostonsportsmedia.com/2013/08/plagiarist-ruins-perfectly-good-rolling-stone-feature

And is "Beli-chick" a typo or just weird toothless dig that Borges employs when he's talking about Belichick?
