any legal experts wanna weigh in on the likelihood of the ruling being reversed on appeal?― Hammer Smashed Bagels, Friday, September 4, 2015 1:22 AM (21 hours ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

Im not lawyer but basic access to evidence and witnesses is the backbone of our legal system and rog didnt think it applied in his kangaroo court

it was def a farce of a 'trial' in the NFL, but some have said (and I don't know how accurate they are) that it seems to be a right afforded to him by the CBA and that it's weird that it got overturned. mostly why I'm curious.
― Hammer Smashed Bagels, Friday, 4 September 2015 23:31 (nine years ago) link
the ruling was based on lack of notice of punishment, lack of access to witnesses, and lack of equal access to information, all of which have fuck all to do with rog's rights under integrity of the game.
― call all destroyer, Friday, 4 September 2015 23:34 (nine years ago) link
aight cool. I don't want it to be overturned, not just cos I feel it's the right decision, but cos I love watching Goodell resemble a beleaguered school principal more and more each day

Included are several damaging new allegations, including that the Patriots actually had people break into locker rooms and hotels to steal play sheets in addition to other more general spy work. There are plenty of candidates to choose from, but the biggest headline from the piece might just be the belief that DeflateGate was what one owner described as a “makeup call” for Roger Goodell and the NFL badly botching SpyGate and actively covering up just how bad it was in the face of a congressional investigation.

lol so apparently on espn this morning goodell vehemently denied that spygate had any impact on their decisions re: deflategate and last week the nfl told a judge the reason they came down so hard on the pats for deflategate was because of spygate
― balls, Tuesday, 8 September 2015 20:08 (nine years ago) link
Did the NFL feed spygate details to ESPN as a response to their humiliation over deflategate?
― too young for seapunk (Moodles), Tuesday, 8 September 2015 20:15 (nine years ago) link
yeah there's speculation about that too. i'm skeptical just because it's van natta and i'd guess this story has been in the works awhile. don van natta's about as far from a league mouthpiece as you can be and work for espn.

don van natta's about as far from a league mouthpiece as you can be and work for espn
yea, thats the main reason i bothered to read the whole thing bc otherwise it would reek of nothing but league counterattack. tbf that is prob still an element to some extent, no doubt, but van natta's a really good reporter and wouldnt have published this w/o being pretty confident of his shit's veracity
does any of it ultimately matter at this point? not entirely sure.

Tony Romo didn't play in Sunday's Cowboys-Patriots game, but he had a message for New England QB Tom Brady regardless: "See you at the title game in February." Romo's comments, made during the postgame handshake, were caught by a mike on Showtime's "Inside the NFL."

feel like the perfect end to the patriots antihero storyline will be when brady gets caught juicing after the they go 19-0 this season
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 27 October 2015 18:19 (nine years ago) link
that would make for a headline or two. was reflecting on this recently, right now the legacy of the belichick pats is going to hold up just fine because the "cheating" scandals have been such overblown nothing but the consequence of all that is if they are caught doing anything legitimately fucked up cheaty then the whole edifice will immediately crumble to dust.
pats are bookie favourites for the rest of their reg season games but they will slip up somewhere, especially with the injury problems. i can see them locked for a bye at 13-1 and losing those last two road division games. who that first loss is to idk, as long as it's not the fucking giants.
