finally, something we can appropriately villainize the patriots for

lol so apparently on espn this morning goodell vehemently denied that spygate had any impact on their decisions re: deflategate and last week the nfl told a judge the reason they came down so hard on the pats for deflategate was because of spygate

balls, Tuesday, 8 September 2015 20:08 (nine years ago) link

Did the NFL feed spygate details to ESPN as a response to their humiliation over deflategate?

too young for seapunk (Moodles), Tuesday, 8 September 2015 20:15 (nine years ago) link

yeah there's speculation about that too. i'm skeptical just because it's van natta and i'd guess this story has been in the works awhile. don van natta's about as far from a league mouthpiece as you can be and work for espn.

yea, thats the main reason i bothered to read the whole thing bc otherwise it would reek of nothing but league counterattack. tbf that is prob still an element to some extent, no doubt, but van natta's a really good reporter and wouldnt have published this w/o being pretty confident of his shit's veracity

does any of it ultimately matter at this point? not entirely sure.

"I don’t even know what the issues are. I haven’t paid attention to politics in a long time. It’s actually not something that I really even enjoy. It’s way off my radar.”

Tom Brady!

When you're rich as fuck, you get to not know what the issues are.

yeah if i'm a pro qb and i'm married to a victoria's secret model my guess is i don't give a fuuuuuck about much else

balls, Tuesday, 29 September 2015 21:24 (nine years ago) link

I'm more amused by him thinking he needed to equivocate about it than anything else, but then again toeing the kraft line of #theway does not exactly allow for "next question"

slothroprhymes, Wednesday, 30 September 2015 00:21 (nine years ago) link

pretty sure the nfl does not allow the use of 'radar' wtf

solder out for the season. was poor against cowboys while he was in but sounds like that may be related. bummer.

Tony Romo didn't play in Sunday's Cowboys-Patriots game, but he had a message for New England QB Tom Brady regardless: "See you at the title game in February." Romo's comments, made during the postgame handshake, were caught by a mike on Showtime's "Inside the NFL."

tarell brown on IR, another player lost at a thin position

Roberto Spiralli, Saturday, 17 October 2015 21:43 (eight years ago) link

feel like the perfect end to the patriots antihero storyline will be when brady gets caught juicing after the they go 19-0 this season

lag∞n, Tuesday, 27 October 2015 18:19 (eight years ago) link

that would make for a headline or two. was reflecting on this recently, right now the legacy of the belichick pats is going to hold up just fine because the "cheating" scandals have been such overblown nothing but the consequence of all that is if they are caught doing anything legitimately fucked up cheaty then the whole edifice will immediately crumble to dust.

pats are bookie favourites for the rest of their reg season games but they will slip up somewhere, especially with the injury problems. i can see them locked for a bye at 13-1 and losing those last two road division games. who that first loss is to idk, as long as it's not the fucking giants.

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 27 October 2015 18:40 (eight years ago) link

obvs prob they will prob lose some games but the sched is p soft

ACL torn, season over

slothroprhymes, Monday, 9 November 2015 19:02 (eight years ago) link

i am more sad for the game of football than i am for the patriots tbh, he has been a delight to watch at times

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 9 November 2015 19:13 (eight years ago) link

awful news though i do think they need someone to be as good as shane vereen not dion lewis

call all destroyer, Monday, 9 November 2015 19:21 (eight years ago) link

awful news, but it does seem that every time they lose a kevin faulk or a danny woodhead or a shane vereen, they manage to find another, and sometimes i wonder if maybe it's the system and not the player.

but damn i do love dion.

fact checking cuz, Monday, 9 November 2015 19:33 (eight years ago) link

meantime, i'm waiting for the week that belichick just goes ahead and dresses only four offensive linemen for a game.
