any patritos heads have the inside line on whether I should start LaFell or Amendola tomorrow?

gotta think amendolas gonna get most of edlemans usual looks
― lag∞n, Monday, 23 November 2015 04:45 (eight years ago) link
hard to say where edelman's targets will go but prob start lafell, even if he gets increased looks amendola doesn't really score tds
― Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 23 November 2015 04:47 (eight years ago) link
hmmmm. But he got one against the new york football giants I thought.

this is my first time playing fantasy football. I am winning the office league, having started 5 patriots in the same week. everyone hates me.
― the grimes of claire boucher ('90s on) (Sufjan Grafton), Monday, 23 November 2015 04:52 (eight years ago) link
amendola did have 11 targets against NYG, though
― the grimes of claire boucher ('90s on) (Sufjan Grafton), Monday, 23 November 2015 04:55 (eight years ago) link
I will start LaFell and hover over Roberto's FP button while I watch the game (not really, ty)
― the grimes of claire boucher ('90s on) (Sufjan Grafton), Monday, 23 November 2015 04:57 (eight years ago) link
one last thing is that amendola also catches almost everything, whereas LaFell has jigglemittens
― the grimes of claire boucher ('90s on) (Sufjan Grafton), Monday, 23 November 2015 05:00 (eight years ago) link
i would bet on edelman
― Eugene Goostman (forksclovetofu), Monday, 23 November 2015 05:49 (eight years ago) link
lol, amendola i mean
they are essential the same guy, belichick is just cloning slot receivers now
― Eugene Goostman (forksclovetofu), Monday, 23 November 2015 05:50 (eight years ago) link
ok, at the risk/certainty of going deeper than anyone cares...
amendola will not replace edelman at the patriots' slot receiver because amendola already is the patriots' slot receiver. most likely he will continue to play that role. the outside receivers will be lafell plus either keshawn martin or aaron dobson. belichick and josh mcd apparently like martin a lot, and they don't seem to rate dobson all that high, so martin is prob the first choice if he plays. he is listed as questionable for tonight. if martin plays he'll drop into edelman's z receiver role. if dobson plays he is more of a limited go route type of wr so he will go to x and lafell will switch to z, which is his best spot anyway. so in 2 receiver sets amendola is not necessarily going to be the default 2nd receiver, especially if it is 12 formation with both gronk and chandler on the field too. amendola is not going to be the guy going down the field any more than his in now, and he is still going to be 4th/5th option near the goalline.
so, in conclusion, amendola is going to have a similar role as he has to this point, and already he is getting a lot of the ball so i don't know how much room there is for his numbers to jump, and he is still unlikely to be the guy scoring tds
― Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 23 November 2015 13:59 (eight years ago) link
for fantasy if you have room on your bench martin might be a better speculative pick up
― Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 23 November 2015 14:00 (eight years ago) link
also, lafell was super rusty that first game back but he was really good vs nyg last week

interesting review by matt bowen of the gronk OPI thing from a defensive perspective. his conclusion is interesting, i can see that it must be harder to officiate an uncommon player like gronk. doesn't really address why the approach has suddenly changed so much this season though. at a guess someone on another team was complaining about him contacting defenders and they decided to go zero tolerance and beyond. kind of lame that this is how the nfl works but there's probably no squeakier wheel than belichick when you get down to it.
interesting that the nfl has swapped out the officiating crew for the pats/eagles game, a tacit acknowledgement that NE has been murdered by bad calls the last couple of games.
― Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 2 December 2015 19:09 (eight years ago) link
they swapped in the crew that forgot the downs in the cardinals/niners game and has been legendarily bad for years--it was all about pulling that crew off of primetime, the pats just become collateral damage.

i think its pretty clear the Pats got jobbed this week but they've def been on the other end of that many many times so
― frogbs, Wednesday, 2 December 2015 19:46 (eight years ago) link
it is so funny just how much belichick hates losing. he has been a total asshole to the media all week. it must be powerfully motivating for the players and coaches, wanting to win to not have to deal with him like that. even down to how he doesn't do the patriots all access film review if they lose.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who earlier this year had a hat with the “Make America Great Again” slogan of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in his locker, was asked Tuesday morning during his weekly interview on sports radio WEEI if he’s supporting Trump’s candidacy.
“Can I just stay out of this debate?” Brady said, laughing. “Donald is a good friend of mine. I’ve known him for a long time. I support all my friends, that’s what I have to say.
"He’s a great friend of mine. He’s always been so supportive of me for the last 15 years since I judged a beauty pageant for him, which was one of the very first things I did that I thought was really cool that came along with winning the Super Bowl. He’s always invited me to play golf and I’ve always enjoyed his company.
“I support all my friends in everything they do. I think it’s pretty remarkable what he’s achieved in his life, going from business, an incredible businessman, then a TV star, and then getting into politics. That’s three different career paths.”
When told that his remarks could be viewed as him endorsing Trump over other candidates, Brady laughed.
“This is really important to you guys, huh?” he said, not directly answering the question.
