Got to wonder if this is the beginning of big money betting that NFL's peaked and the mega deals starting to slide.

don't miss out on your chance to see them before they move - ticket prices have only been increased by a mere 40%.

Raiders are giving new head coach Jon Gruden a 10-year contract, the longest coaching deal in NFL history, sources tell ESPN. The deal is likely to be worth about 00 million.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) January 5, 2018
― Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 5 January 2018 18:44 (six years ago) link
yeah it is incredible. so raiders
― Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 5 January 2018 18:45 (six years ago) link
i'm calling 2 years before he's gone. may need to be a poll on this.
― Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 5 January 2018 18:46 (six years ago) link
i hope there's a clause compelling him to adopt the mark davis bowl cut
― mookieproof, Friday, 5 January 2018 18:46 (six years ago) link
i feel weird & annoyed about this whole thinglike, i dont like the way the Del Rio firing was handled, let alone that it happened at alldoubling down on Gruden who has not coached in almost 10 years feels like a doomed exercise. like, sure he’s a good dude but this is a total fanservice move. if this doesn’t work & there’s a good chance it won’t, then we are so fucking ~nowhere~
― Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 5 January 2018 18:49 (six years ago) link
wow, i just realized that jon gruden with a mark davis cut would look exactly like...mark davis???
― Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 5 January 2018 18:49 (six years ago) link
joke's on you for calling them 'we'
xp
― mookieproof, Friday, 5 January 2018 18:50 (six years ago) link
yeah sorry veg this seems like a horrible move. also the raiders just seem to be in bad shape generally after this season, like anything that seemed to be a bright spot after 2016 gradually faded.
― Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 5 January 2018 18:51 (six years ago) link
just gonna walk into the ocean right now thx guys
― Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 5 January 2018 18:52 (six years ago) link

:/
― Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 5 January 2018 18:53 (six years ago) link
sorry veg
honestly i would MAAAAYBE consider this contract with belechick but 10 years for any coach just seems insane, like even good coaches things can get stale, like I dunno, tom coughlin or someone like that who did great things and was a good coach it just felt like the air had gone out of the thing
― Joan Digimon (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 5 January 2018 19:04 (six years ago) link

According to three sources, Jon Gruden spent round 1 of the draft imploring the #Raiders: Draft Johnny Manziel. Just imagine #whatif— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) October 26, 2014

LOL @ RAIDERS
― lag∞n, Friday, 5 January 2018 20:26 (six years ago) link
I think this is a solid move. The Raiders are in the same position the Chargers are in ... even if they're good, fans will be slow to convert to them. Vegas is Cowboys/Broncos territory imo. A famous big personality head coach isn't a terrible idea if they can keep him away from personnel decisions. Raiders are pretty drab when you get down to it so maybe he can help reinvigorate them somewhat.
― reggae mike love (polyphonic), Friday, 5 January 2018 21:00 (six years ago) link
yr drab

i can't wait for the first time gruden motions 5 different guys to get 4 yards on a screen pass.
― call all destroyer, Friday, 5 January 2018 21:17 (six years ago) link
he'll hardly be alone in that
― mookieproof, Friday, 5 January 2018 21:31 (six years ago) link
Nick Saban makes over 10 million a year I believe.
― earlnash, Friday, 5 January 2018 21:36 (six years ago) link
Saban has a a good deal more impressive a resume (in the NCAA) than Gruden has in the NFL
