#Patriots WR Julian Edelman has suffered what is believed to be a torn ACL, per sources. MRI tomorrow to confirm.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) August 26, 2017

bummer for jules. maybe if he had wanted it more his knee would've stayed intact.

Wow, short season, RIP Pats.
― Moodles, Saturday, 26 August 2017 04:45 (seven years ago) link
as much as edelman is one of the guys you'd least want to lose, the pats have literally never been this deep at skill positions. this offense is still going to be a wrecking ball.
― Roberto Spiralli, Saturday, 26 August 2017 11:31 (seven years ago) link
I'm sure the Pats will pull out some new diminutive WR out of some lab deep below Gillette Stadium to be the Welkerbot V.4 or TroyBrownbot V.2.

whos that undrafted rookie they got hes the new julian welker
― lag∞n, Sunday, 27 August 2017 05:26 (seven years ago) link
danny gets promoted from hardly playing at all to splitting wr3 with mitchell. whether he gets significant playing time probably depends on how early in the season gronk gets injured, and whether dwayne allen is any good. before the injury tho there was a small chance he didn't make the roster at all, which is sad fpr a dude who takes a pay cut every year to stay on the team. it's funny to think back to those couple seasons when he was the entire rams offense.
the undrafted rookie wr everyone is excited about this time is austin carr, who i guess now is actually a roster shot despite seeming inevitably destined for the practice squad like the exciting camp rookie wrs usually are. he does not seem to be in the julian welker mould, sadly

have any of you guys gone to foxboro for a game? i'm trying to do this & don't know when is the best time to buy a ticket off stubhub. should I wait and hope a less expensive single ticket pops up in the week before the game?
― comey did deflategate (daria-g), Tuesday, 29 August 2017 22:30 (seven years ago) link
i've gone but i had a sweet hookup through an ilxor. just looked at prices for the second game and.......damn.
i wouldn't be optimistic about getting anything all that much cheaper.
― call all destroyer, Tuesday, 29 August 2017 22:40 (seven years ago) link
yeah thats a tough ticket id say if you see a price u like just take it
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 29 August 2017 22:42 (seven years ago) link
obv the patriots are an entirely different franchise since when gillette was built but it does suck that it is in the bottom half of stadiums by capacity. if they could rustle up another 20000 seats maybe ppl could afford to see a game. or maybe that would just soak up the season ticket waiting list...
― Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 29 August 2017 23:45 (seven years ago) link
i don't know what the resale prices are, altho i can imagine, but i would say it is 100% worth going at least one time for the experience

Only Pats game I've been to was at Sullivan Stadium, Bledsoe vs Marino, the year they went to the super bowl.
― Moodles, Wednesday, 30 August 2017 01:09 (seven years ago) link
resale is like $275 for the cheapest seats rn. ugh. i hate expensive tickets. i've never paid that much to see anything (closest was like $175 but it was kendrick lamar one-off show at the kennedy center so). but i'll probably do it

that shit didnt even have seats just cold ass metal benches
this guy, this bill belichick. he's always up to something but it's never quite what you expect. and it rarely seems to make sense. but it usually works out pretty well.
― Roberto Spiralli, Saturday, 2 September 2017 18:25 (seven years ago) link
ok, cassius marsh trade is more like what i was waiting for. that's a superb pick up. and made possible by the jets sending richarson to seattle, presumably.

austin carr sniped by new orleans, rip this year's camp breakout undrafted rookie wr. saints' wr factory will prob make something out of him but still a 50/50 chance he is wr4 on the jets in a couple years.

anyone else watch that 'do your job' (v2) pats documentary that nbc played a couple days ago? v interesting esp the gambling by patricia when calling the defense in the second half after that julio jones catch. including the fact that they knew one of the refs on that crew made a critical holding call in a prev playoff game.
also one of my favorite belichick quotes re the first half -> "I felt like we had control of the game. We just didn't have control of the score."

Ian RapoportVerified account @RapSheet 55s55 seconds agoMore #Patriots LB Dont'a Hightower is believed to have suffered a minor MCL sprain vs KC, I'm told. With the long break, could actually play W2.
looked like it could've been much worse so i'll definitely take this silver lining to yesterday's giant shitstorm

Depth at RB was a nice change, but total lack of WRs and defense isn't going to get them far

― lag∞n, Friday, 8 September 2017 15:39 (seven years ago) link
to be fair they were very deep at wr before they lost 3 in 2 weeks. defense is going to be fine, altho i hadn't noticed how unexciting the LB corps is past/without hightower.
i wouldn't read a great deal into last night in terms of the full season. combo of pats being outsmarted and outsmarting themselves, playing 4th choice safety as a LB did not work outside of the strip. my abiding memory of the game will be a DE somehow in man coverage on a deep bomb that turned into a 75y td and predictably getting toasted. things like that don't happen when they have their shit together.
― Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 8 September 2017 15:46 (seven years ago) link
i am a little more concerned about the offense, in the short term anyway. with amendola out brady only had hogan and gronk, and maybe lewis, as receiving options he has an established rapport with. kcc bracketed gronk and put peters on hogan and then even tho brady had all the time in the world vs often a 3 man rush he just had no one to pass to. but there were promising signs of life in his relationship with cooks and burkhead and hopefully dola is back soon. and not every team has marcus peters. one thing i noticed is that i don't remember seeing dwayne allen at all after that misfire first play, certainly he ended the game without a catch. i think brady blackballed him even tho it was a horrendous throw and clearly not allen's fault at all.
