that's why today's color guys are obsessed with 'running downhill'

mookieproof, Monday, 18 September 2023 00:17 (one year ago) link

fastest dude on the Dolphins might actually be their coach god damn he was truckin it into the tunnel at half

frogbs, Monday, 18 September 2023 01:48 (one year ago) link

Reading more on those 89 Steelers, they lost their first two games by a combined score of 92-10 and then turned around and finished 9-7. Pretty good improvement, they beat the Browns in second game after getting beat week one 51-0.

That was Rod Woodson's rookie year. He was so good, probably the best football player from Indiana ever.

earlnash, Monday, 18 September 2023 02:07 (one year ago) link

This is the most conservative play calling on either side of the ball I've ever seen from Belichick

Make the chats AI (Neanderthal), Monday, 18 September 2023 02:33 (one year ago) link

haha when rodgers ruptured his achilles last week every single steelers guy on twitter was like THAT'S NOT AS BAD AS WHEN ROD WOODSON TORE HIS ACL IN 1995 WEEK ONE

mookieproof, Monday, 18 September 2023 02:36 (one year ago) link

This Patriots team is not very good. That's been true in recent years w Cam Newton but this is the first year I have thought that with Jones.

They're not BAD. But they're very vanilla, little swagger, and very conservative and close to the vest.

Belichick punting on 4th and 4 from the opposing 40 shocked me, like... that's usually "go for it" 9 times out of 10 with him

Cowboys' Jerry Jones: Working to increase minority ownership in NFL

no, actually he just said some random shit about a lawsuit. he's only 'working' to make people forget he was in the background of the most racist photo of the 20th century

let me know what he says when 'a minority' has $8 billion and wants to buy a team

mookieproof, Monday, 18 September 2023 03:02 (one year ago) link

well they did some pretty cool shit on that drive

frogbs, Monday, 18 September 2023 03:04 (one year ago) link

Yeah they actually let Mac play QB on that drive

Make the chats AI (Neanderthal), Monday, 18 September 2023 03:15 (one year ago) link

LMAO Patriots just did an emergency Billdozer

frogbs, Monday, 18 September 2023 03:20 (one year ago) link

oh come on you gotta let that stand

frogbs, Monday, 18 September 2023 03:23 (one year ago) link

Nah he was short and I thought so in real time. Was actually shocked at the original spot.

Credit to the Patriots, they were resilient and Mac played a pretty inspired second half

Make the chats AI (Neanderthal), Monday, 18 September 2023 03:25 (one year ago) link

I wouldn't have been mad if they had let it stand, necessarily

Make the chats AI (Neanderthal), Monday, 18 September 2023 03:25 (one year ago) link

fuck that

after the last two decades you need to shit on them whenever possible

mookieproof, Monday, 18 September 2023 03:26 (one year ago) link

Lol

Make the chats AI (Neanderthal), Monday, 18 September 2023 03:41 (one year ago) link

My mother and I finished a bottle of wine among us during the game.

So after two weeks I have no idea who is a contender

Make the chats AI (Neanderthal), Monday, 18 September 2023 03:42 (one year ago) link

that's cool

mookieproof, Monday, 18 September 2023 03:43 (one year ago) link

i will never contend

ciderpress, Monday, 18 September 2023 03:43 (one year ago) link

Really feel like the Vikings will be one of they knock off the sloppy turnovers.

Make the chats AI (Neanderthal), Monday, 18 September 2023 03:45 (one year ago) link

would be nice to believe an 0-2 team is a contender

ciderpress, Monday, 18 September 2023 03:50 (one year ago) link

They're mostly 0-2 because they've committed 7 turnovers in two games.

I just can't see that persisting all season long.

Their defense though needs work.

Idk Sam Fran is one I'm pretty confident in the NFC atm

Make the chats AI (Neanderthal), Monday, 18 September 2023 03:53 (one year ago) link

mac jones actually looked pretty good last night! or maybe i am just way too conditioned to jets' "quarterback play"

is he disgruntled adrian? (voodoo chili), Monday, 18 September 2023 14:24 (one year ago) link

Somehow, the Falcons are now 2-0. I went to yesterday's game, they were incredibly frustrating through three quarters then pulled a win out of their collective ass. I think they have the pieces, but play calling is atrocious.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Monday, 18 September 2023 14:26 (one year ago) link

I was at a bar of Packers fans who were actually kind of incredulous that the back of the end zone TD was overruled. in real time I thought he was probably out but on replay he clearly looked in

frustrating game for GB too, Ridder probably should've been picked off 3-4 times but we kept dropping them. but they dropped a pretty bad pass by Love at the end too. all told Jordan Love actually looks pretty solid

frogbs, Monday, 18 September 2023 14:32 (one year ago) link

Yeah, overruling that TD was pretty outrageous. I think that actually lit a fire under Atlanta. Not surprisingly, the crowd was probably close to half Packers fans.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Monday, 18 September 2023 14:35 (one year ago) link

Bijon Robinson looked like a total beast (though I will point out it's not particularly difficult to run all over the GB defense). he also helped one of our players up after a play...kinda irritating when you're trying hard to dislike someone and he turns out to be a nice guy

frogbs, Monday, 18 September 2023 14:39 (one year ago) link

two MNFs, two gruesome injuries. really awful what happened to Chubb.

Make the chats AI (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 19 September 2023 02:03 (one year ago) link

yeah that was a nuclear knee injury. career ender.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 19 September 2023 02:05 (one year ago) link

oh fuck that did not look good

frogbs, Tuesday, 19 September 2023 02:28 (one year ago) link

tired of things being taken to the house

mookieproof, Tuesday, 19 September 2023 03:27 (one year ago) link

steelers won despite not running a single play inside the cleveland 30

not really a recipe for success

mookieproof, Tuesday, 19 September 2023 10:49 (one year ago) link

also gotta say Watson not really playing like a top paid quarterback, with Chubb out he's gonna have to be better than this

frogbs, Tuesday, 19 September 2023 13:24 (one year ago) link

Watson had some good moments but Pittsburgh had him constantly bottled up.

good, fuck him!

Make the chats AI (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 19 September 2023 13:31 (one year ago) link

Yeah, I'd love to see the Browns do well, but not with this asshole.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Tuesday, 19 September 2023 15:56 (one year ago) link

he hasn't really had a particularly impressive game since the suspension and is getting sacked a ton

frogbs, Tuesday, 19 September 2023 16:08 (one year ago) link

He doesn't strike me as a quarterback who has a vision of the whole field or the ability to keep his head, both of which are essential to greatness imho.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Tuesday, 19 September 2023 16:10 (one year ago) link

In contrast to, say, Trevor Lawrence, who has all the makings of an elite QB.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Tuesday, 19 September 2023 16:10 (one year ago) link

Maybe cover Tyreek Hill idk

too fast

ciderpress, Sunday, 24 September 2023 18:02 (one year ago) link

To think I was worried about this game this morning

McNugget Aggressive Growth Fund (Neanderthal), Sunday, 24 September 2023 19:47 (one year ago) link

That being said, Russell is not the problem. The defensive scheme is a mess

McNugget Aggressive Growth Fund (Neanderthal), Sunday, 24 September 2023 19:48 (one year ago) link

Packers helluva rally

McNugget Aggressive Growth Fund (Neanderthal), Sunday, 24 September 2023 20:31 (one year ago) link

Yea Jordan Love was beasting it in the 4th

frogbs, Sunday, 24 September 2023 22:03 (one year ago) link

Pack receivers were not doing Love too many favors too, he had at least 4-5 times where he hit the guy in the numbers and got nada.

What a beat down on the Broncos. I guess Payton did not do good enough bounties this week. Anyone that had fantasy teams playing against Dolphins got rolled. In my league Mostert and Hill combined for like 75 points today.

This is literally the worst I have ever seen the Bears. What a grease fire. They have generally been crappy on offense, but at least competent in other parts of the game...now they got nothin'.

earlnash, Sunday, 24 September 2023 22:53 (one year ago) link

Yea Love’s stats don’t look too great but he’s been pretty impressive. Seems to be getting the ball where it needs to be but his receivers just aren’t making the plays. That flea flicker on 4th down totally would’ve worked but the throw back was botched. Also GB is down their two best offensive players so who knows maybe they’re gonna start putting up numbers soon

frogbs, Sunday, 24 September 2023 23:12 (one year ago) link

Actually starting to wonder if Chicago would’ve ruined Mahomes had they picked him. They’ve got that Browns thing going on where every QB they get instantly turns to garbage

frogbs, Sunday, 24 September 2023 23:21 (one year ago) link

I always think that luck in the draw is a bigger part of NFL success than people believe.

Would Terry Bradshaw been great if he would have been drafted by the Saints?

Would Tom Brady been great if he would have been drafted by the Browns?

That said, I have been middling on Fields since he was drafted myself. Running QBs can look great in stretches and then completely lose it. Don't doubt that the Bears total dysfunction is big part of that situation, but I also tend to doubt if Fields would have gone to say the Eagles he would have success like Jalen Hurts.

I kinda think Stroud might finally be the decent OSU pro QB, but he also looks and plays much more like a trad drop back QB and is pretty darn accurate throwing the ball.

The 49ers selected Brock Purdy with the final pick (262nd overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft, making him that year's mr. irrelevant
