Last week 11-2-1 and 55-35-1 for the season
N.Y. Jets at New England - Pats.Miami at Chicago - This is an interesting match up. Don't know Miami at all, as I haven't seen them play much in a few years. I'm going Bears as I am a homer, but this looks pretty much a pickem.New Orleans at Detroit- I'm going Lions as they do seem the better club. I still have to think the Saints can't be as bad as their record. You got Drew Brees you can get up a couple TDs on any team pretty quick. Carolina at Green Bay- Packers.Cleveland at Jacksonville - Browns better win. Coming off their biggest win in a long time, this feels like a serious trap game.Atlanta at Baltimore - I could believe this being close, but I have to think the Ravens are the better club.Minnesota at Buffalo- I'm going Bills, but I would believe it if the Viks win.Cincinnati at Indianapolis- This is an interesting matchup. I'm going Colts.Tennessee at Washington - Jay Gruden needs a win. I'm going Hatcats, but I kinda hope Tennessee beats them to keep cracking on Snyder.Seattle at St. Louis- Seahawks.Kansas City at San Diego - I'm going Chargers but I could see KC giving them a game.Arizona at Oakland- Cards should win.N.Y. Giants at Dallas - I'm going Cowboys but hope Giants win.San Francisco at Denver - I'm going Niners in an upset.Houston at Pittsburgh - Steelers need a win, I think Houston may be better but give me Pittsburgh at home.

― call all destroyer, Friday, 17 October 2014 03:37 (ten years ago)
The fact I was rooting for the jets just proves how much I loathe the fucking patriots. Especially with Nants calling the game. "Mr. Kraft" my ass
― Prince Kajuku (Bill Magill), Friday, 17 October 2014 03:57 (ten years ago)
geno looked better as the game went on i thought but fabulous seems generous! he makes those throws where you think yeah that was pretty nice but i can see why he gets picked off a bunch, but the problem is that's on 10 yard passes. maybe it is the green and white but that is a very...sanchez-like trait.
― Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 17 October 2014 10:35 (ten years ago)
p good game, jets played well. interesting to think that if the pats threw the ball to convert that 3d & 14 at the end there and were unsuccessful theres a significant increased likelihood that they lose by giving the jets the extra ~40 seconds
― johnny crunch, Friday, 17 October 2014 11:16 (ten years ago)
& also that in reality if folk makes that 58 yd kick anyway, ppl would scream their nuts off abt how the fuk do you not give brady a chance to end the game by throwing on 3d and 14? those are tuff decisions in the moment
― johnny crunch, Friday, 17 October 2014 11:18 (ten years ago)
it is less about the 3rd down itself than that they didn't really try to get the first down at all. p much the only thing the jets do at a high level right now is stop the run, so you are not serious about getting yards if you have shane vereen rush into mo wilkerson when they are expecting you to run. they got the ball one set of downs away from a FG, i would've at least tried a 1st down play action pass. i understand trusting your defense - whatever you think of geno these guys are not at a point where they are scary if they need to move the ball a distance quickly - but as phil simms brilliantly worked out for himself, the patriots play a defense that allows yards between the 20s. they gave geno the throw-where-you-want treatment normally reserved for manning bros deep in the 4th.
― Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 17 October 2014 11:48 (ten years ago)
the fact that they were 1 set of downs from a fg is meaningless but I do agree, they didn't try to get a 1st down, and trusting a defense that allowed the jets to move the ball all game is hellof risky. I still think belichick in general played it correctly, if they try a playaction pass and its dropped, that's too big a risk imo
― johnny crunch, Friday, 17 October 2014 11:54 (ten years ago)
well, you are 2nd and 10 and you know you have to make a 1st down now. that is still not a horrible worse case scenario. i mean, if your first read doesn't look promising you can sit on the ground and keep the clock moving.

yeah i thought there were a lot of plays where he had no one to throw to and either used his legs or at least minimized the damage. it really seemed like the turnovers were coming and he managed to play a clean and reasonably efficient game.
― call all destroyer, Friday, 17 October 2014 12:57 (ten years ago)
seems like a reasonably mobile qb can always get decent scramble yards vs ne and i am sure they prepped for that but i did like that he didn't rush to pull the ball down and kept looking downfield as long as he could

Colts demolished the Bengals 27-0 and it really wasn't even that close as Indy had a couple fumbles that probably cost them 10 points or so. Cincy could not move the ball at all.
Seattle is looking more Kiss Dynasty than Steeler's dynasty these days at 3-3.

turns out that little game of keepaway between Peyton and his teammates after 509 was Peyton's idea beforehand and that they had practiced before the game. so that's kinda weird.
