kinda heartening that GB only lost by 8 considering all the awful things they endured. I mean Rodgers didn't even play *that* bad despite his terrible stats - there were just so many dropped balls, or balls where the receiver didn't know the play call, neither pick was a particularly bad throw, and Jordy straight up dropped a touchdown that would've swung the game

Buffalo's defense looked really tough. Seemed to always have their hands near the ball, made open field tackles, got tons of pressure on the QB even though I don't think they sacked him. If they had half of an offense they would be scary.

i think these cowboys are dangerously close to breaking the usual cowboys narrative. the defense is still baffling tho, held together with wishes and PMA. i can see the fairytale ending spectacularly with something like a 60-28 hiding by GBP.

Jets defense has been playing pretty hard in that losing streak, so I get what Ryan meant.
Cowboys offensive line is pretty good, they have seemed to drafted some a good ones. From that the running game and improving passing game has been built. The biggest difference is that their defense is much, much improved over last year. If you give Jerrah crap when they sucked, I got to give the Devil a bit of due, this years Cowboys is improved. Will this turn into post season success? That is TBD.
Philly is starting to get banged up on both sides of the ball. The QB play is part of the issue, but their O-line and defense are starting to get knicked up.

Vikings really gave Detroit a gift yesterday, erase one of two missed field goals and we win
― you say tomato/i say imago (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 15 December 2014 13:52 (ten years ago)
feels strange to say this about Detroit but they have got to be the luckiest team this year, they seem to constantly be coming out flat and finding a way to eke out a win in the end, same as they did during their playoff year. in other words I'd be shocked if they did anything during the playoffs though they're definitely a good team on paper
― Abstinence Hawk (frogbs), Monday, 15 December 2014 14:01 (ten years ago)

― you say tomato/i say imago (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 15 December 2014 14:41 (ten years ago)
assuming that the ESPN playoff calculator thing works properly, i was playing around with it last night and dallas loses tiebreakers to just about everyone, so they actually have to win that division, which effectively means they have to win out. hosting the colts next week will be interesting, kinda sucks they clinched already. assuming they do beat indy and hatcats, the eagles then seem to be next bottom of the tiebreaker pile. barring a surprise result or two, there is a good chance someone is getting 11-5 but not making the playoffs, and right now that looks like philly.
― Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 15 December 2014 14:48 (ten years ago)
what happens if Dallas loses to Indy and Philly wins their next two? both teams would be 11-5 with 1-1 head to head.
― Abstinence Hawk (frogbs), Monday, 15 December 2014 14:58 (ten years ago)
they would have same record, dallas better conf record
― Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 15 December 2014 15:00 (ten years ago)
same division record i mean
if the cowboys lose once and the eagles win out, it's the cowboys who are out
― k3vin k., Monday, 15 December 2014 15:08 (ten years ago)
If Seattle loses @ Arizona but wins at home vs. St. Louis, could they be out at 11-5? I don't get this tiebreaker system :/
― Abstinence Hawk (frogbs), Monday, 15 December 2014 15:10 (ten years ago)
wait n/m, Seattle would be 9-3 in the division which trumps what Dallas or Philly can get

ok double checked this myself. if dallas's loss is to indy they go thru - same record, split head to head, same division record, better record vs common opponents. if dallas beats indy and loses to washington, philly goes thru with better division record. as special as dallas losing to washington would be...

The last few games they have played make them look about as bad a team there is in the NFL. I'm pretty sure Jax would clean their clock right now. Bears arent even putting up a fight.
― Prince Kajuku (Bill Magill), Tuesday, 16 December 2014 14:54 (ten years ago)
Totally. Every Bears fan I know is calling for Trestman's head and most of 'em want to see Cutler done too. I can't imagine sacking Cutler is going to improve anything though, especially since there are probably nearly a dozen teams who would pick him up right now. But man, what a dumpster fire they've been since that game at Lambeau.
― Abstinence Hawk (frogbs), Tuesday, 16 December 2014 15:17 (ten years ago)
Cutler's a tough one because they may be right, he may not have that something that will get you over the top, but at the same time, as a Vikings fans I can tell you when you are on the outside looking out for a QB it sucks...outside of Favre it's just been this constant parade of also-rans, retreads, and losers....Teddy is showing some promise so fingers crossed....
but it's like Cutler sucks until you ditch him and end up trying to trade for Brian Hoyer

this is bizarre: http://blogs.mercurynews.com/kawakami/2014/12/12/levis-part-2/
* Harbaugh wanted to keep the team based in their old locker room, next to the practice field and save the Levi’s locker room just for game days, to make it special.York and Baalke wanted the team in the Levi’s locker room permanently–where there’s better equipment, more space–and as the 49ers figured out how to handle of this, many of the players just started going over to Levi’s, anyway, because of the nicer environs. The compromise: The 49ers decided to keep two locker rooms and the players can choose which one to dress in during the week.Seems logical, but the result is that many veterans stay in the old locker room, everybody else is in the new one, and often they never see each other after practice or between meetings. There are literally two camps, two locker room atmospheres, two factions of 49ers.-Old locker room: Justin Smith, Ray McDonald, Anquan Boldin, among others.-New locker room: Colin Kaepernick, Frank Gore, the entire offensive line, Glenn Dorsey, Antoine Bethea, Eric Reid, the kickers.
