Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 29 December 2014 05:02 (ten years ago)

jets, bears, niners and falx fire their coaches, jets and bears fire GMs too. i guess i feel a tiny bit sad for trestman but screw the rest of them dudes. also i don't know if idzik is necessarily a bad GM, feel like he will do okay elsewhere. dimitroff shouldn't have kept his job but if you were going to lose one or the other it is way past time mike smith was out of there.

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 29 December 2014 15:10 (ten years ago)

I think Idzik is worse than Ryan. Jets only had like 4 out of 12 drafted players on the roster and Jace Amaro is the only one who looks like he has a future. plus the $21M salary cap space was never explained all season, there must have been a veteran cornerback forced into retirement out there, and their secondary was nothing. Jets drafting is a long running joke but Idzik was worse than flipping a coin.

comesayhey, Monday, 29 December 2014 17:30 (ten years ago)

Not sure what coach is getting more than 4 or 5 wins out of this Jets team

Abstinence Hawk (frogbs), Monday, 29 December 2014 17:49 (ten years ago)

fuck @ Kyle Orton retiring at 32. not that he was going to make the Bills better than 9-7 again. might as well trade picks for Cutler now.

comesayhey, Monday, 29 December 2014 18:17 (ten years ago)

i still like trestman generally but it was clear the bears had to raze the whole thing to the ground. it was a shame bc the 2013 bears were a fun team, i really thought they'd make a jump to idk 11-5 this season. i feel bad for him not bc of his misfires (a lot of which seemed to be a direct result of him trying to be diplomatic and nice to everyone even those who didn't quite deserve it) but bc i sense the bears fans turned on him quicker because he didn't look the part of an nfl coach. i mean i'm pretty sure dave wanndstedt lasted six years with the bears because of his coachlike mustache.

LIKE If you are against racism (omar little), Monday, 29 December 2014 18:43 (ten years ago)

Marc Trestman was done in by his assistant coaches acting like a bunch of idiots playing the telephone game. Those bitches were wriggling like a fish on the hook trying to deflect blame playing shit off in back channels after they got blasted by NE and Green Bay and the combination of the two pretty much seems to have totally lost the club both in the press and locker room. Trestman seems like a nice man and I think x-o's he probably knows what he wants, but I think coming off low-key Lovie, this club needed a bit more loud mouth in your face type guy to shake stuff up. The defense was totally spent and just plugging in a single good draft pick and a free agent signing wasn't going to fix things.

It still goes down to the McCaskey's being skinflints to the core. That old broad squeezes every nickel hoping they will turn into a quarter. Pretty much owning the Bears is like a license to print money, but they should be making a SHITE ton more if they actually quit hiring "cousin Bobs" to be GM or some old buddy from 'the Illini' to be the offensive coordinator. That crap might have worked for Papa Bear, but criminy it's not 1949 anymore. The Bears SHOULD be one of the most popular brands in all sports but it's not and there is only one part of the situation that never changes.

earlnash, Monday, 29 December 2014 19:30 (ten years ago)

I think one thing you can say about Ryan and his Jets clubs, they never quit on him like what happened in Chicago this year. The Jets owner is a total wanker. Again the Jets are like the Bears in that they are pretty much a license to print money, but they have only been worth anything maybe 8-10 seasons out of 45 since they won the Superbowl.

earlnash, Monday, 29 December 2014 19:39 (ten years ago)

the bears were obviously disappointing this season after a few games, but it really was those back-to-back NE/GB pummelings that did it yeah. the performances were so pathetic that i think we both called this at the time. which is sad bc even after the slow start it was just disappointing, not the disaster it became.

lovie wasn't perfect but for the bears squads he was good and respected and he generally squeezed those teams for everything they were worth and they "left it all on the field" (to use a terrible cliche), esp his opportunistic defenses (and although the offense was always a mild-to-large problem, they played hard and even in the grossman years they were capable of some startling gamebreaking big plays.)

i do think cutler is a bigger problem than i imagined, especially when compared to other franchise qbs. he's less a poor man's philip rivers and more a poor man's matt stafford or a rich man's jeff george.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12093617/ndamukong-suh-detroit-lions-suspended-playoff-game

Guess that'll be Suh's last game in Detroit barring an upset in Dallas. I wonder how much $$$ he's leaving on the table in free agency by getting himself suspended again like this.

Abstinence Hawk (frogbs), Monday, 29 December 2014 19:59 (ten years ago)

kinda surprised dimitroff is surviving.

call all destroyer, Monday, 29 December 2014 21:19 (ten years ago)

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 29 December 2014 23:18 (ten years ago)

after appeal, theyre letting suh play vs dallas

johnny crunch, Tuesday, 30 December 2014 22:32 (ten years ago)

I wonder what happened in that appeal meeting that got him off the hook?

Abstinence Hawk (frogbs), Wednesday, 31 December 2014 00:31 (ten years ago)

panthers, steelers, bengals, cowboys imo

polyphonic, Wednesday, 31 December 2014 21:34 (ten years ago)

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, during an appeal of his one-game suspension for twice stepping on Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, said his feet were numb from the cold, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter on Wednesday.

A source said Suh told appeals officer Ted Cottrell on Tuesday that he couldn't tell the difference between Rodgers' feet and the ground.

Doug Marrone opted out of his Bills contract

polyphonic, Wednesday, 31 December 2014 23:10 (ten years ago)

seems like he'd have plenty of suitors for sure, that bills D was eye-opening last year.

LIKE If you are against racism (omar little), Wednesday, 31 December 2014 23:17 (ten years ago)

For some reason he still gets paid for 2015 even if he signs on somewhere else.

Cool contract.

polyphonic, Wednesday, 31 December 2014 23:21 (ten years ago)

wow what

johnny crunch, Wednesday, 31 December 2014 23:30 (ten years ago)

johnny crunch, Wednesday, 31 December 2014 23:32 (ten years ago)

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 31 December 2014 23:58 (ten years ago)

15-17 in two seasons, lol

call all destroyer, Thursday, 1 January 2015 06:04 (ten years ago)

lol Niners are meeting with Rex Ryan.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 1 January 2015 17:13 (ten years ago)

If Rex Ryan goes to the Bills and Doug Marrone goes to the Jets that would be one of the dumbest things I've seen happen in a long time.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 2 January 2015 19:59 (ten years ago)

Rex with that defense could be lethal.

Prince Kajuku (Bill Magill), Friday, 2 January 2015 23:38 (ten years ago)

it would be just like rex to find a worse quarterback situation than the one he got fired from

call all destroyer, Friday, 2 January 2015 23:46 (ten years ago)

Not if he comes to north Georgia !

Prince Kajuku (Bill Magill), Friday, 2 January 2015 23:49 (ten years ago)
