Rodgers looking like he's about to announce something on the Pat McAfee show, most likely just gonna whine about how everyone is reading too much into his overwrought IG posts

the "hottest coach in the NFC North" race just heated up with Viking's hiring of Kevin O'Connell, can he challenge Matt LeFleur's dominance????
― Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Tuesday, 22 February 2022 16:41 (three years ago)
he's hot for an NFL coach but no way
Matt LaFleur's handsomeness bothers me. it's like when Arnold Schwarzenegger used to play like, a random government worker. say what you will about Mike McCarthy but that dude had the perfect NFL coach look
― frogbs, Tuesday, 22 February 2022 16:55 (three years ago)
he and Zim definitely had iconic old school unhealthy functional alcoholic NFL coach look

Major NFL suspensions:Ray Rice: beating fiancé; 2 gamesAdrian Peterson: felony child abuse; 6 gamesGreg Hardy: beating gf; 10 games reduced to 4Ezekiel Elliot: hitting women; 6 gamesCalvin Ridley: 17 games for using FanDuelJosh Gordon: 6 seasons for smoking weed— Nick Looney (@NickLooney901) March 7, 2022

idk it's pretty self-explanatory why the nfl would punish football-related infractions more seriously than off-the-field things, especially since none of those heinous crimes committed by players threatened the nfl's bottom line. all they really have is the integrity of the results on the field, and if that is in doubt...
― roflrofl fight (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 8 March 2022 00:59 (three years ago)
I get it but Ridley wasn’t with the team at the time, he bet a tiny fraction of a single game check, and the only bet he made involving his own team was for them to win. Yes he’s dumb for doing it but the NFL making an example out of him while also integrating sports betting into every single part of their broadcast feels a little off.
Also I would argue that their lax attitude towards domestic violence did affect their bottom line but who knows how much exactly
― frogbs, Tuesday, 8 March 2022 01:54 (three years ago)
sure, i’m not arguing that they’re paragons of moral rectitude, but they aren’t dumb

i don't understand this argument at all. as a term of my employment i am restricted from making certain financial transactions, e.g. i am not allowed to participate in an IPO. this is reasonable given the issues that can arise from a perceived conflict of interest--i don't expect to have access to absolutely everything that the average investor does, and i have no idea why an nfl player would or should expect to be able to gamble on his own sport without consequence.
― call all destroyer, Tuesday, 8 March 2022 02:11 (three years ago)
well there are two ex-coaches alleging they were literally paid to throw games so throwing the book instead at a guy who bet $1500 on dumb parlays via the app you're pumping on every single commercial break...idk it ain't a great look. can't imagine the NFL enjoys looking like big hypocrites!!!
― frogbs, Tuesday, 8 March 2022 04:52 (three years ago)
i agree with you that those owners should also be subject to severe punishment!
― call all destroyer, Tuesday, 8 March 2022 12:24 (three years ago)
anyways in other news looks like Rodgers is staying with GB and getting paid an insane amount to do so
hate that I'm gonna be forced to cheer for him for another 4 years but this is obviously the right move for them

Russell to the Broncos...good for him
― frogbs, Tuesday, 8 March 2022 19:11 (three years ago)
this makes Derek Carr the worst QB in the AFC West. he's gotta be the best worst divisional quarterback ever
― frogbs, Wednesday, 9 March 2022 03:37 (three years ago)
jon bois tweeted that earlier...jameis in a division with brees cam and matt ryan arguably beats him out?
― symsymsym, Wednesday, 9 March 2022 05:04 (three years ago)
I think Carr is better than Jameis. isn't Jameis's best season the 30/30 one?
― frogbs, Wednesday, 9 March 2022 05:10 (three years ago)
Wentz to the Washington....uhhh...Commanders
amusingly their Super Bowl odds actually dropped after the movie (60:1 -> 75:1)...don't think I've ever seen that happen before

I suppose it is possible that Atlanta might be middling next year but yeah the Saints and Panthers are DOA.
ESPN radio was talking up a bit when I was tuning into Greenburg at round lunchtime that Mitch T. that he would get signed for more money than you might think. Kind of surprised the Steelers went that way, but hey maybe the second coming of Bubby Brister?
― earlnash, Tuesday, 15 March 2022 00:58 (three years ago)

― frogbs, Wednesday, 16 March 2022 02:11 (three years ago)
when you see all these teams salivating over watson, it makes giving up and signing trubisky seem kinda honorable
― roflrofl fight (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 16 March 2022 02:24 (three years ago)
honestly I can see Mitch being good in Pittsburgh
― frogbs, Wednesday, 16 March 2022 02:35 (three years ago)

― Mr. Snrub, Wednesday, 16 March 2022 09:05 (three years ago)

i don't think the steelers could justify replacing one abusive asshole qb with another
as for mitch, good luck behind that offensive line
― mookieproof, Wednesday, 16 March 2022 15:25 (three years ago)
Trubisky might have a bit more talent than shown and maybe with the right place he might be good. It hasn't been a thing as much in the last decade or two in the era of 'superquarterbacks' but there is a pretty long standing history of QBs figuring it out later on.
Trubisky reminds me quite a bit of Rich Gannon in a way. I don't know if he will figure it out and be able to use those athletic skills, but it 'could happen' and the Steelers are about as stable as you can get in the NFL as a franchise.
I have always thought that people really under-estimate the luck of being on the right team when it comes to success in the NFL.
Steelers O-line stinks now, but it might not next year. Getting rid of Bigdollar BigBen salary should help on that somewhat.
I kinda hope Baker Mayfield goes to the Colts.
Bears are going to stick with Justin Fields, but Chicago already had the greatest Buckeye QB in Mike Tomczak and I don't think Fields will even end up as good as him (definitely won't last as long in the NFL).
― earlnash, Thursday, 17 March 2022 00:53 (three years ago)
Wentz having to go back to Philly playing for the Hatcats should be good for a laugh. Dude is mistake prone as all get out. If you can lead the league in rushing, he might be your guy but I don't think he is even as good as Jimmy G. in that respect.
― earlnash, Thursday, 17 March 2022 00:55 (three years ago)
Uhhh what
Blockbuster: Packers are trading Pro-Bowl WR Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders for two prime 2022 picks, league sources tell ESPN.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 17, 2022
― frogbs, Thursday, 17 March 2022 23:44 (three years ago)
I don’t really understand this move from either side. The Packers got a good haul but are trying to sell out to win a title the next 3-4 years and the way they do that is through their insane passing offense. Their best guy now is uh…Lazard? Are they gonna make a run at OBJ and his torn ACL? For the Raiders idk if this puts them over the top and “the best receiver in football” probably will not look as hot going from Rodgers to Carr. In fact none of Rodgers’ receivers looked all that good on other teams. Maybe Adams will turn out to be durable but this contract is probably gonna look really bad in a couple years. Oh well, I wish him the best of luck
― frogbs, Friday, 18 March 2022 00:47 (three years ago)
Makes sense to me. The Raiders lost their best receiver to vehicular manslaughter so they needed a guy.
― reggae mike love (polyphonic), Friday, 18 March 2022 00:54 (three years ago)
Sure but that’s the kind of trade/contract you give out when you think you’re only one guy away
― frogbs, Friday, 18 March 2022 01:01 (three years ago)
I guess Carr and Adams did have a pretty good connection in college but that was like 8 years ago
― frogbs, Friday, 18 March 2022 01:05 (three years ago)
GB has to pay Rodgers, so they cut costs.
Raiders still playing by Al's rules...gotsta have speed on the outside baby...Cliff Branch etc. Not like it matters much, they are not going to go anywhere.

Important contract note for Deshaun Watson, who got a 5-year, $230M contract. His base salary for 2022 is $1M, which means if he’s suspended, it’ll come out of that base.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 18, 2022

saving some cash, getting some picks.
― roflrofl fight (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 23 March 2022 19:41 (three years ago)
He's really good but at some point you got to re-load. They probably got a fair amount of cash also tied up with Travis Kelce.
Brown's suck for trading for Watson.
I think Baker Mayfield is getting a bit more of the blame than perhaps is warranted. He's not great and may never be, but that club is also obviously run by a bunch of clueless ding dongs. Whatever man...
― earlnash, Thursday, 24 March 2022 00:30 (three years ago)
I like Baker and wanna give him the benefit of the doubt - he was clearly playing injured a lot of last year - but he also made some really boneheaded decisions. Like Mark Sanchez-esque. I wanna say getting off the Browns might help but that hasn’t exactly worked for their last 40 quarterbacks
― frogbs, Thursday, 24 March 2022 01:22 (three years ago)
It would be rich if Mayfield did end up with the Steelers if Cleveland cuts him.
That would be worth seeing.

ya they Pittsburgh kinda backed themselves into a corner, maybe they have some more trades planned but this Steeler offense does not look good
― frogbs, Thursday, 5 June 2025 19:56 (two weeks ago)
honestly I think this has potential for even more hilarity than his Jets tenure. I mean look Jets fans embraced him for a pretty understandable reason, they're desperate as hell. they've been terrible for decades and their best QB since Namath might be Mark Sanchez. they haven't made the playoffs in forever. and lets face it New York loves its weirdos with star appeal.
compare to Pittsburgh who have made the playoffs nearly every year and have generally had good QB play for decades, who also have a notoriously prickly fanbase who kinda hate everyone, especially the kind of me-first bullshitter that Rodgers is. he's like as un-Steelers a player as you'll find in this league. if he sucks and leads them to their first losing season in 18 years or whatever they're gonna be pretty ruthless about it. and honestly idk how it turns out otherwise. this offense looks pretty toothless in comparison to the Jets last year and you have to figure Rodgers can't really be much better than he was with New York. but he certainly could be a lot worse. idk I'm actually kinda glad this is happening purely for entertainment's sake.
― frogbs, Thursday, 5 June 2025 23:30 (two weeks ago)
bad day all around for Mason Rudolph (someone said online)
― symsymsym, Friday, 6 June 2025 00:28 (two weeks ago)
i've already seen steelers fans ask 'is he playing for us or playing for himself'
i don't expect it will go well at all, but probably not notably worse than if mason rudolph (who attended a trump rally last week and presented him with a #47 steelers jersey) were starting. i guess a lot of nfl quarterbacks are assholes, but the steelers have had a few too many
honestly the bigger problem is that they have the most expensive defense in the league, yet it cannot even slow down burrow or allen or mahomes or lamar
― mookieproof, Friday, 6 June 2025 00:35 (two weeks ago)
rocky bleier was at the rally too, ffs
