Thanks. I couldn't think of a title lol

if this site were a food it would have NO nutritional value!!!!!!! (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 13 August 2024 17:27 (one year ago)

The preseason is so boring.

Mr. Snrub, Sunday, 25 August 2024 01:36 (eleven months ago)

I did get a ILNFL chuckle out of the fact that book that just came out on Rodgers was called "Out of the Darkness"...we may have a lurker.

earlnash, Sunday, 25 August 2024 01:41 (eleven months ago)

well, I let my son draft my fantasy team this year. he was super excited about it. he's now running around the house yelling about how amazing his fantasy team is. it is in fact one of the worst fucking fantasy teams I've ever seen. turns out he only knows players from the highlights videos he watches on YouTube. fuck me

frogbs, Friday, 30 August 2024 03:07 (eleven months ago)

this is awesome and i want a thread dedicated to it and him

mookieproof, Friday, 30 August 2024 03:38 (eleven months ago)

i wanted to supervise him but my wife was out so i had to put my daughter to bed. knew shit was gonna be bad when he came into the room to tell me he took Justin Tucker in the 3rd. I was like wtf I told you not to do that! and he says "hes the best kicker ever Dad! did you know he made a 66 yard field goal! the longest in NFL history!! did you?! I had to take him someone else was gonna get him!!"

frogbs, Friday, 30 August 2024 03:48 (eleven months ago)

game recognizing game

mookieproof, Friday, 30 August 2024 03:56 (eleven months ago)

my first fantasy football experience was literally 40 years ago, when i spent three seasons finishing a distant second to my little league baseball coach, better known as steelers tattoo guy. dude was insane -- we drafted individual defensive players (andre tippett!) and he knew *everything*

i just bought street & smiths. nabbed jerry rice early. had joe morris and his 20 TD for the NYFG in 1986.

no offense but it sucks deeply if your kid can't translate his excitement into something rewarding that's not essentially gambling. and if he starts rooting against the packers because he's got some TE playing against them, that is the worst

mookieproof, Friday, 30 August 2024 04:16 (eleven months ago)

the whole idea is just really appealing to him, I kinda knew once I explained the concept that it was something he could get obsessed with. just watching his eyes light up when I explained like "each player gets his own score, then you add them together and go against the other player", he was way into it. I knew I had to let him do it. he plays this baseball game on the Switch a lot which lets you draft a team and he spends more time doing that now than playing the actual game. its funny too since its one of those games where most of the players are fake but there are some real life HOFers in there. so when I'm doing it with him he's like "you look Robin Yount over Mighty Goat?? what is wrong with you!??"

the idea that he might have to root for one of his players against the Packers has not yet occurred to him, lol

mookieproof, Friday, 30 August 2024 04:38 (eleven months ago)

frogbs, you need to get him into ttrpgs instead. Fantasy sports is the worst.

il lavoro mi rovina la giornata (PBKR), Friday, 30 August 2024 12:10 (eleven months ago)

I never did much fantasy sports. I some how did not get in the one my circle of college ‘bros’ did until last season and they have had it going since 96. Last season was the first league turnover they had had since 99. Nerds.

I did play fantasy baseball for a couple years on ILB. It’s way more work.

My thing that I did a ton back in the 80s was playing Statis Pro football that was put out by Sports Illustrated. I had the baseball game for a couple seasons too. I still have two of the football games both of which still had the Street and Smiths NFL previews for like 86, 87 & 88. Those are real fun to look at.

We did actual gambling some when I was a teenager. Those old school football cards where you would have the spread for the weeks games in ncaa and nfl. You e we would like pay $2 Bucks and pick 4 games off the card. Did ok on those. I grew up a bunch of pro sports following knuckleheads as a kid. Funny thing was my buddies dad was a cop that would take in the cards.

They were printed in Red Key In - A little dot in the map outside Muncie and as I understood these betting cards went to Detroit, Chicago etc in the area.

Fuck. Pearsall shot in Union Square as a victim of an armed robbery over his Rolex. Supposedly fought back and perp was injured with his own gun. Heard Ricky walked himself to the ambulance (what a G), but is now in the hospital. Absolutely sucks

Per SFPD: 49ers Ricky Pearsall was shot through the chest in a robbery attempt over a Rolex. He was headed to a signing event on Geary & Market. There was a struggle for the gun. Both Ricky & the suspect were shot. Both parties stable at SF General Hospital.

where is the lie

some background on what exactly the o'keefe media group is might have been useful, tho

ASHBURN, Va. -- The Washington Commanders have suspended an employee who made comments about the team's players being anti-gay, accused Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones of being racist and anti-gay and called NFL commissioner Roger Goodell a "$50 million puppet."

The team said it has suspended its vice president of content, Rael Enteen, who has been with the organization for four years, for comments he made to an undercover reporter for the O'Keefe Media Group.

According to a social media video from the media group, Enteen had met the reporter on the dating app Hinge and met with her twice at local restaurants.

Snap

trm (tombotomod), Wednesday, 4 September 2024 20:52 (eleven months ago)

Enteen told the undercover reporter that "most of the fans are high-school-educated alcoholics" and called them "mouth breathers."

Enteen also told the reporter, whose name was not revealed and who can only be heard on the video, that his job is to sell hope. Three years ago, there were videos of pipes leaking. Fans said it smelled like sewage, but Enteen said he tweeted out that it was just water.

"That," he said, "is state-run media."

symsymsym, Wednesday, 4 September 2024 22:51 (eleven months ago)

Damn, he ended up getting fired. What a unbelievable dick move. You really can’t trust anyone.

Mr. Snrub, Thursday, 5 September 2024 22:07 (eleven months ago)

Bengals 8.5 over NE caught my eye. Vegas must think the PATs are really going to suck.

Cincy has not played well to start the season, so I got to wonder.

Not a fan of this new kick off format, plus starting on the 30 seems wrong as well. It used to be on the 20, 25 was okay.

Bee OK, Saturday, 7 September 2024 02:43 (eleven months ago)

yeah it just looks silly

frogbs, Saturday, 7 September 2024 03:46 (eleven months ago)

oh geez Jordan Love looks like he suffered a real bad injury with 5 seconds left, god damn

frogbs, Saturday, 7 September 2024 03:48 (eleven months ago)

As my starting QB in fantasy, I'm heartbroken.

octobeard, Saturday, 7 September 2024 04:35 (eleven months ago)

Enteen sounds like he had a date in a 1 party state? There's no way he consented to being recorded, and I'm fairly certain it's illegal to use these types of recordings in 2 party states for reporting purposes? Or is that just as submitted evidence in a court of law? Either way, an absolute slimeball tactic.

For the record, everything he said is pretty on point haha

octobeard, Saturday, 7 September 2024 04:36 (eleven months ago)

god the whole thing is just so irritating, for one losing your season in the last few seconds of garbage time, for two because the turf was clearly not great, Packers blew like 7 plays because someone slipped

frogbs, Saturday, 7 September 2024 04:54 (eleven months ago)

I mean fine it maybe wasn't garbage time still just when you were about to say "at least no one got hurt"

Hoping we can finally live in a world where no one thinks Daniel Jones is a starting NFL QB.

il lavoro mi rovina la giornata (PBKR), Sunday, 8 September 2024 20:27 (eleven months ago)

First game of the year and I'm already sick of the Cowboys. Glad I'm able to watch Raiders vs Chargers instead.

mookieproof, Sunday, 8 September 2024 21:57 (eleven months ago)

Aubrey just drilled a 66 yard field goal only to have it wiped off the board due to a delay of game. imagine losing your place in the history books because of that lol

frogbs, Sunday, 8 September 2024 21:59 (eleven months ago)

Raiders dominated the first half, it's like Jim Harbaugh was unprepared for the NFL.

Bee OK, Sunday, 8 September 2024 22:14 (eleven months ago)

Two first downs in the first half and like 17 off-side penalties. Justin Herbert can help you right a lot of wrongs.

Who am I kidding, it was the Raiders being the Raiders.

Mr. Snrub, Monday, 9 September 2024 12:57 (eleven months ago)

Watson contract really looking like one of the worst moves in professional sports history. Especially since it looks like Baker is gonna be the Bucs’ guy for a while.

octobeard, Monday, 9 September 2024 22:14 (eleven months ago)

Genuinely might be the worst move I’ve ever seen a pro sports franchise make:

1) they gave away the picks that turned the Texans from the worst team in the league to a playoff team in one year

2) it also made them get rid of the closest thing they’ve had to a franchise quarterback in 30 years, only to see him become a franchise QB for a different team

3) he’s been legitimately awful, not only has he missed a ton of time (in part due to the suspension they knew was coming) but even when healthy he’s been Mark Sanchez-level, can’t throw deep, can’t really run either like he used to, seems destined for a bunch of 25-40 for 120 yards type games

4) it’s not like the Browns are hopeless, their defense is incredible, if the offense was league average they’d be a contender, as evidenced by the fact that Joe Flacco (who was retired!) took em to the playoffs last year

5) they blew decades of goodwill, their franchise has been so cursed and hapless people started rooting for them on principle, now they’re known as the team willing to blow up everything and pay big money for a serial sex offender

Just a total fucking disaster from every angle, really sorry for anyone who chooses to root for this team

frogbs, Monday, 9 September 2024 22:29 (eleven months ago)

Jimmy Haslam is a real one. Takes a truly special owner and player to make a Niner fan root for the Cowboys on the road against a perennial underdog.

octobeard, Monday, 9 September 2024 22:54 (eleven months ago)

i don't bet but a reigning conference champion, at home, against a 7-10 team with an old guy coming off achilles surgery being only 3-point favorites seems odd

mookieproof, Tuesday, 10 September 2024 00:26 (eleven months ago)

Rodgers looked good on that one drive though the Niners refusal to cover Wilson may have helped

The interview drama or the fact he's dating a woman more than 50 years younger?

octobeard, Thursday, 1 May 2025 01:44 (three months ago)

it's odd that he's dating a woman 1/3 his age, but whatever, they're adults

it's bizarre that he's ceded control of his public image to her tho

mookieproof, Thursday, 1 May 2025 02:11 (three months ago)

look I find that kind of extreme age gap unsettling too but I think what makes it much creepier is that it's Bill Belichick a man who barely codes as human

octobeard, Wednesday, 7 May 2025 00:26 (three months ago)

Steelers trading Pickens to the Cowboys, honestly no clue what their plan is for this year, they're kind of sleepwalking themselves into a situation where signing Aaron Rodgers might actually be their best bet, though if that were in the cards you'd think they wouldn't get rid of the only dude they actually throw the ball to

frogbs, Thursday, 8 May 2025 16:29 (three months ago)

they do have metcalf, but yeah. i think it was mostly about pickens being a head case they simply didn’t want to have around

mookieproof, Thursday, 8 May 2025 17:59 (three months ago)

It might benefit them to tank a bit and trade up for a QB next year

octobeard, Thursday, 8 May 2025 22:35 (three months ago)

Tanier made a good point on a podcast with Matt Lombardo today, the real losers in this trade are the Giants. Now the 2025 NFC East pecking order is pretty firmly established and they’re on the bottom. Hope Dart works out for them!
