Disney's Super Bowl in Hollywood on V Day (aka America's favorite Dystopian pastime NFL and College 2026 -27)

The last time ABC broadcast the Super Bowl was in February 2006 for Super Bowl XL, when the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Seattle Seahawks.

College Week 0 starts Friday Night! Decided to combine the NFL with NCAA as there isn't enough activity for two threads.

The Rams preseason TV games have always jumped around. Started on Fox but has been on KABC these last few years. Because David Ellison now own KCBS they're broadcasting them this year, makes sense as he's from LA. The strange thing is the Chargers have been on KCBS since the move and still are. So this year both are on KCBS but tonight they played each other. To get around this they broadcast the Rams on KCAL, their sister station.

They still play the Raiders in LA for the preseason on KTLA and tonight it's on vs the 49ers. Ironically, they hardly show up on Sundays on LA TV.

It’s profoundly annoying that the Browns are so bad and dumb that half my NFL content feeds are just guys going holy fuck, how stupid are the browns, this is gonna be terrible for them, guess this is what tanking looks like, etc

also I actually kinda feel bad for their fanbase but man y’know whaddaya etc.

similar issues with the Falcons, they’re probably gonna be Not Great, Bob this year but people can’t shut up about them? I suppose in both cases this comes down to poorly run organizations providing more preseason drama. But damn

ok this is pretty diabolical, seems to have worked too as the Pats during the Brady/Belichick years made 9.4% more of their FGs than their opponents which is the best in that span by a wide margin

First Saturday in September is underway. Not sure how much college football I will watch this year but to start with The Ducks is the way to go.

Niners enjoying Melbourne and vice versa is adorable. Seems like a missed opportunity for the Rams to also show up early and engage with the locals before the game, but the Rams are lame

Also show up 24 hours before the game? Not sure how that is at all going to be beneficial for the players' health. I suppose whoever wins will be able to say "we told you so" but still, injuries in week 2/3 may tell the real story

The only thing I can see working in the Rams favor with the "rhythm" they intend to follow is the fact the game is at 10:30am, which could favor their travel schedule. Curious if they keep the team on a very strict sleep cycle and make sure they crash at like 5pm the day before and make sure all rooms have light sealed window blinds or something. Maybe?

I could see the Niners having issues adapting to the 10:30am start time once they've acclimated - normally the earliest they'd play is 1pm local time. Which really irks me about when they chose to play this game. It really should have been in November with only a 5 hour time difference and a bye week after since everyone is forgetting how shit the jet lag is going to be upon returning (way worse then going there)

Though if both teams leave at say 3-4pm in Melbourne, they should be back by 9am Friday (same day!) to the west coast, allowing them all weekend + Monday to get over the jetlag.

Regardless of the competitive logistics here, it still sucks the Rams are basically telling Melbourne and Australia "nah" and avoiding building the brand and fan base there.

Totally - but I do feel their travel arrangement could possibly uptick injuries, though having an extra day (even if on the road) the following week will help. But who knows, maybe they are on to something.

Yes they should have played this game in November after DST flipped for both countries, granting a 5 hour window and then offer both a bye week after. You could then play the game at noon local time instead of bloody 10:35

Part of the Rams strategy is to keep everyone on PDT so the game time is 5pm for the players, which is supposedly the time of day for peak physical preference.

I get the theory (and they supposedly sent players in the spring to trial it) but it's such a weird and kind rude look

I think the main challenge that comes with deciding to fire an HC is the incredibly shallow pool of twisted obsessives who want the job and are qualified in any way
