thank you!

otto midnight (otto midnight), Monday, 18 September 2006 16:26 (eighteen years ago)

My other fantasy team is AWESOME:

QB: C. Palmer [R. Mexico / R. Grossmann]
WR: S. Moss / J. Horn / D. Bennett [B. Lloyd]
RB: R. Johnson / W. Dunn [F. Taylor / backup to W. Dunn]
TE: K. Winslow [A. Crumpler]

K: D. Akers
D: Atlanta

Stupid ass Jeff Wilkins and GORE FUBAR'd my respectable Week 1 showing; this week, I am kicking ass. My only problem = WEEK 5 BYES (AKA Why The Hell Do Cincy & Atlanta Share A Bye Week?)

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 18 September 2006 16:46 (eighteen years ago)

<homerism>Brah, 87 yards (5.4 ypc), 2 TDs, and yes, 1 FumL, is SNAFU??</homerism>

Dude, Cardinal run defense is FUGAZI.

ZONA'S D LET FRANK GORE GO APESHIT IS MY PROBLEM LEEESEPH

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 18 September 2006 17:19 (eighteen years ago)

i have already picked up better receivers via free agency than the dudes i drafted. damn whosyourmama! [get well soon!] meanwhile, i picked up marques colston [who's also TE qualified], reggie williams and bernard berrian.

the saddest news is that jake delhombre is worthless without steve smith. [charlie frye, one of two backup qbs [i have big ben too] has been putting up better numbers.]

saving grace? rudi johnson you are a treat! [jamal lewis and lee suggs, not so much.]

currently undefeated, but with fewest pts among undefeated teams.

blackmail (blackmail.is.my.life), Thursday, 21 September 2006 23:14 (eighteen years ago)

berrian is a good guy to have on your bench, the bears have been looking for a deep threat for years and he appears to have staked a claim to the position. he's also looking like grossman's #2 option after moose muhammed. should be a fun game this weekend.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Friday, 22 September 2006 12:46 (eighteen years ago)

everyone: this weekend: Daunte Culpepper vs. Tennessee or Steve McNair vs. Cleveland? I know it's a dog's dinner but whatever, I was proud of my Culpepper pick until, y'know, losing last week to my seven-year-old nephew. I'm guessing the former but am I missing something?

Haikunym (Haikunym), Friday, 22 September 2006 13:14 (eighteen years ago)

culpepper, i think saban will want to make a statement after losing to buffalo last week and the titan's d is blowtastic. i actually like cleveland.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Friday, 22 September 2006 13:17 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, but I keep expecting McNair to figure everything out. Maybe I should give up that crazy dream.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Friday, 22 September 2006 13:20 (eighteen years ago)

I'm helping my friend Sharon with the operations of two of her teams, and both are in first place. Nobody knows she's receiving help! :)

polyphonic (polyphonic), Friday, 22 September 2006 15:00 (eighteen years ago)

tj whosyourmama pls get healthy! berrian and reggie williams may be starters this week. i also picked up bryant johnson on ariz. Houshmandzadeh is the only wideout remaining from draft day!

[the question remains: leave lee suggs in flex position against titans d or start ouchy houshmanzadeh against steelers d?]

blackmail (blackmail.is.my.life), Saturday, 23 September 2006 00:13 (eighteen years ago)

start ouchy. he's probable.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Saturday, 23 September 2006 01:09 (eighteen years ago)

ouchy's in the game. i'm hoping that dropping henry and picking up the NO d for a "sign and trade" involving big ben for the chicago d [hey she's got culpepper at qb, and no other option] works! [oh and pls steve smith be healthy. delhomme looks ridic without you!]

blackmail (blackmail.is.my.life), Saturday, 23 September 2006 16:30 (eighteen years ago)

i lost by two points. being in a league with 16 teams is hard. marques colston, you are a treat! welcome back tj housmanzadeh!

[sadly, i've realized that i must start charlie frye every week. he's like a fake don mcnabb in fantasy league play. hopefully the steve smith /jake delhomme connection will pan out and generate big numbers.]

blackmail (blackmail.is.my.life), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 23:15 (eighteen years ago)

i'm living with charlie frye as my starter too. it's either him or phillip rivers. as long as the frye guy keeps running for td's i won't mind.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 27 September 2006 13:08 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, hopefully the frye/housmanzadeh/rudijohnson/marquescolston partytrain can carry me. being in a league with 16 teams really tests your abilities as a fantasy owner [and this is my rookie season.] [holy eff my defenses suck.]

blackmail (blackmail.is.my.life), Wednesday, 27 September 2006 14:30 (eighteen years ago)

i don't even know who my defense is. denver maybe? fantasy stuff is blocked at work and the neighbor with the unsecured wireless connection moved out two weeks ago as they convert his building to condos.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 27 September 2006 14:32 (eighteen years ago)

someone just offered me maroney for T.O.

should i take it?

mookieproof (mookieproof), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 02:55 (eighteen years ago)

I had a lead going into yesterday's game, & had Akers going against the Philly D AND LJ Smith. Thank god a) McNabb forgot about LJ after the first quarter and b) Favre only threw 2 picks.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 15:38 (eighteen years ago)

got my first win off a prominent m@t@d0r recording artist this week, awesome.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 16:12 (eighteen years ago)

Cat Power plays fantasy? No wonder she's always melting down onstage, she's worried about Shaun Alexander's foot!!

c('°c) (Leee), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 16:13 (eighteen years ago)

He gave Carl0s D fantasy herpes.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 16:15 (eighteen years ago)

i have mcnabb in my other league! i'd already won the game, it was just icing. plus i have the atl def, colston, berrian on that team too. dominance!

gear (gear), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 16:16 (eighteen years ago)

i was up by 25; naturally, mcnabb scored 26 for my second 1-point loss of the season

mookieproof (mookieproof), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 16:23 (eighteen years ago)

i lost by one goddamn point because i benched shockey (bye week) and THOUGHT i'd started mcmichael (4 pts.) but no, i left te empty.

fucking idiot.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 17:29 (eighteen years ago)

Is there such a thing as fantasy college football? The draft/free agent pool would be so enormous...

The Bearnaise-Stain Bears (Rock Hardy), Sunday, 8 October 2006 20:25 (eighteen years ago)

you could probably do it within a conference. but really, who cares?

mookieproof (mookieproof), Sunday, 8 October 2006 21:04 (eighteen years ago)

I need Todd Heap to a) not catch any balls or b) die.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 9 October 2006 19:48 (eighteen years ago)

ok so i'm thinking of trading one of my qbs for a wide receiver. carr or grossman? this is my team right now:

QB D. McNabb
WR A. Boldin
WR B. Berrian
WR E. Kennison
RB T. Jones
RB L. Washington
TE De. Clark
W/R M. Colston
BN C. Dillon
BN L. Maroney
BN S. Alexander
BN D. Carr
BN R. Grossman
K L. Tynes
BN A. Vinatieri
DEF Atlanta

gear (gear), Tuesday, 10 October 2006 19:47 (eighteen years ago)

You can probably get more for Grossman, and Carr is a reasonable backup.

I'd have a blast with that, especially if the draft pool was nationwide. No one's team would suck and head to head matches each week might actually prove to be exciting.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 03:28 (eighteen years ago)

Hey ILNFL fantasy geniuses, which two of these three WRs would YOU start this week:

Javon Walker vs Oakland
Darrell Jackson @ St. Louis
Bernard Berrian @ Arizona

hearditonthexico (rogermexico), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 18:06 (eighteen years ago)

BERRIAN!!!

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 18:25 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, I've got Walker and Berrian in my starting lineup for now. It just feel so wrong to leave D-Jack on the bench...

hearditonthexico (rogermexico), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 18:43 (eighteen years ago)

Agreed, but you can't sit Berrian and the secret word is "Oakland"

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 19:23 (eighteen years ago)

Seattle has too many WR options, especially with Jerramy Stevens back.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 21:00 (eighteen years ago)

Branch and Jackson still get the lion's share of receptions in Seattle, though... especially the ones that count.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 21:11 (eighteen years ago)

the secret word is "Oakland"

And how. Plus it's Denver vs. Oakland. At Denver.

I will also be starting Tatum Bell.

hearditonthexico (rogermexico), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 22:10 (eighteen years ago)

Would you trade Cedric Benson for Derrick Mason? Benson seems to be more and more involved, but I need a WR bad. Mason never seems to sniff the endzone though, and Benson actually has more points even as a backup.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Friday, 13 October 2006 21:05 (eighteen years ago)

Really depends on who else you have and how your league's set up. E.g. in mine there's no "flex" spot, just two RBs, two WRs, and a TE.

Benson's points don't help you from the bench even if he scores more than Mason from here to the end of the season. WR is usually the easiest position to fill from the free agent/waiver pool though.

hearditonthexico (rogermexico), Friday, 13 October 2006 22:03 (eighteen years ago)

It's a 16-team league with QB RB RB WR WR WR WR/RB TE K D slots. I have:

QBs: Huard Culpepper McNair
RBs: Edge Droughns LWashington Benson
WRs: Chambers Berrian DBennett Stallworth
TE: Gates
K: Akers, D: Chicago/St. Louis

Top available WR's:

T Williamson, R Parrish, Lelie, Hakim, Caldwell, N Washington, Mi Clayton

I mean, it's slim pickings. I would grab Williamson but not for Benson, and dropping Bennett doesn't help because SOMEONE has to start this week and Williamson is on a bye. :/

polyphonic (polyphonic), Friday, 13 October 2006 22:11 (eighteen years ago)

Scratch that, there's no WR/RB slot. Just 3 WR 2 RB 1 TE.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Friday, 13 October 2006 22:13 (eighteen years ago)

Your biggest issue may be at QB, where you've got one non-starter (let him go), one conditional starter, and one injury time-bomb. I'd lose Culpepper and look to the waiver wire, since you're going to need some bye-week juice at RB.

Mason's steady but usually low production may keep you in a few games, but he's rarely going to win any for you. Has anyone snapped up Baskett yet? Seems as though he'll be getting looks as long as Stallworth is gimpy. Is Mike Furrey available? Heck, is Kitna available?

hearditonthexico (rogermexico), Friday, 13 October 2006 22:27 (eighteen years ago)

Has anyone snapped up Baskett yet?

Yes.

Is Mike Furrey available?

No.

Heck, is Kitna available?

No. However, I can pick from any of these fine QB options:

Charlie Batch, Chris Simms, Josh McCown, Kerry Collins, Aaron Brooks, Brian Griese, Aaron Rodgers...

polyphonic (polyphonic), Friday, 13 October 2006 22:39 (eighteen years ago)

Have I mentioned that I'm in first place? :D

polyphonic (polyphonic), Friday, 13 October 2006 22:49 (eighteen years ago)

Interesting mix of benchwarmers and Aaron Rodgers. I suppose Gradkowski was too good to last...

Nonetheless, with Droughns on bye this week and Edge sitting out in a few weeks you need your RB depth. Hakim might win you as many games as Clayton. Or, hmm... who's filling in for Roy Williams this week?

hearditonthexico (rogermexico), Friday, 13 October 2006 23:02 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, this is why I refuse to drop Culpepper. Maybe in a couple weeks he returns and can contribute. If I don't keep him, I have Huard (who is a healthy Green away from worthlessness) and McNair, who has been one of the worst starting QB's in football.

I think I'm going to run Benson this weekend and hope he gets some garbage time against Arizona, and then re-consider the trade next week once I have Droughns back.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Friday, 13 October 2006 23:14 (eighteen years ago)

i need 12 points from the bears defense tonight. i don't seem to be getting it.

mookieproof (mookieproof), Tuesday, 17 October 2006 01:15 (eighteen years ago)

i guess you did in the end?

in my other league i'm in a tough spot, because i have a slew of players who are on bye this week, and i'll be missing a tight end with clark and colston out. i don't want to drop either of them, though. my WRs suck and colston fills in there usually, and clark is better than most of the wideouts so i don't want to lose him. i'm just gonna have an empty space there and cross my fingers.

gear (gear), Thursday, 19 October 2006 18:31 (eighteen years ago)

If it's between dropping a crucial guy and running a player short for a week, run short for the week. If your league has playoffs, just make sure you'll be around for them and make sure you have the best possible lineup for that stage of the game.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Thursday, 19 October 2006 19:25 (eighteen years ago)

Edge sitting out in a few weeks

Oh, I hadn't heard this, how come?
