according to my schedule man united is playing the vikings this week?

anyway, some good games for a change. a suddenly frisky bucs team playing at new jersey, rams travel to san diego, dallas attempts to reimage itself in nascar country and someone is going to lose between indy and denver (unless neither do).

otto midnight (otto midnight), Thursday, 26 October 2006 13:27 (nineteen years ago)

The Bucs and Dallas are fucked, yo.

Allyzay Eisenschefter (allyzay), Thursday, 26 October 2006 13:30 (nineteen years ago)

o-line in dallas should be ashamed at cashing their paychecks this week that's for sure. tb is finally putting it together i think. the only game they were blown out of was the first i think.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Thursday, 26 October 2006 13:40 (nineteen years ago)

oooooh baltimores vs. saints. yikes.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 26 October 2006 13:48 (nineteen years ago)

sf @ chicago will either be a christians/lions type thing or the type of game an overconfident team will look past. the amount of fellatio being given to the bears by the chicago press corpse is disgusting. i didn't believe it could happen in a two paper town.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Thursday, 26 October 2006 13:51 (nineteen years ago)

Dallas's O-line should be sent to NFL Europe for three years as punishment for Monday night. What a terrible performance; they made the Giants look like a talented O-line ffs.

SF @ Chicago is a more cartoony version of what I imagine might happen NE/Jets or Miami later in the year. It'd be hilarious if SF beat Chicago, what with them only barely scraping by AZ.

Allyzay Eisenschefter (allyzay), Thursday, 26 October 2006 13:56 (nineteen years ago)

Jets Bengals and Saints Ravens should both make it to NFL Replay

SOME LOW END BRO (TOMBOT), Thursday, 26 October 2006 14:06 (nineteen years ago)

good then I won't watch NFL replay next week

Allyzay Eisenschefter (allyzay), Thursday, 26 October 2006 14:43 (nineteen years ago)

local press in exalting local team shocker!

seriously though i think the bears were humbled by arizona and being called pussy fags by dennis green.

local press in exalting local team shocker!

well, there was the whole ozzie/marriotti thing. in a two paper town there's always one douchebag who pisses off the balcony onto the championship parade but no one's doing it with the bears right now. when the pats won back to back superbowls and won like 20 straight games or whatever ron borges of the globe was that guy, he was the one saying it was all smoke and mirrors. dan shaughnessy has made a career by being a bitter, spiteful troll who has a weird and apparently masochistic relationship with the bosox.

this morning i saw that after the game sunday the local fox affiliate is airing something on the bears titled "Drive for the Championship". IT'S ONLY WEEK 8!!! rex grossman is still the qb!

otto midnight (otto midnight), Thursday, 26 October 2006 16:39 (nineteen years ago)

you're preaching to the choir! it's weird because last season when the white sox were making their run, and actually before the season, all these douchebag columnists were like "fire everyone, trade everyone, start over" or whatever. sports columnists are like abusive spouses.

gear (gear), Thursday, 26 October 2006 16:43 (nineteen years ago)

Well, it was Fox. I lived in AZ when Jake Plummer took over as QB there--and the press there was like GONNA GO ALL THE WAY THIS YEAR!! We're talking, like, immediately after the draft, this starts. And I was like, wtf are you people smoking, seriously? The Cardinals? Plummer? WAHT? So of course they went like 5-11 at best and they were all like YEAH IT'S STARTING TO HAPPEN THOUGH TRUST US, BETTER THAN LAST YEAR HUH!! After two MORE years of that apparently they decided they were not really fans of Jake and as well we all know he ended up elsewhere after the witch-hunts of him having the nerve not to win a Super Bowl entirely on his own for a shitty ass team. It was really funny.

Allyzay Eisenschefter (allyzay), Thursday, 26 October 2006 16:45 (nineteen years ago)

gear, are you in chicago? if so do you have any interest in joining me to hatch a plot to bring harm to cory mcpheran of fox sports?

otto midnight (otto midnight), Thursday, 26 October 2006 17:03 (nineteen years ago)

i am in los angeles, but i endorse this product or movement wholeheartedly.

Bengals receiver Chad Johnson said that if Falcons cornerback DeAngelo Hall -- "DeAngelo Fall," according to Johnson -- gets the best of him and Atlanta wins Sunday's game in Cincinnati, he will shave off his blond Mohawk.

Coach suing McDonald's over dead rat in salad
Associated Press
Posted: 4 minutes ago

DALLAS (AP) - Dallas Cowboys assistant coach Todd Haley is suing a suburban McDonald's, claiming his wife and the family's live in baby sitter found a dead rat in their salad.

The lawsuit filed Thursday in state district court seeks $1.7 million in damages, The Dallas Morning News reported on its Web site.

In addition to Haley, the Cowboys' passing game coordinator who got in a well-publicized shouting match with Terrell Owens earlier this month, the suit was also filed on behalf of his wife Christine and the family's au pair, Kathryn Kelley.

A message left for McDonald's Corp. spokesman Walt Riker on Thursday evening was not immediately returned.

According to the lawsuit, Christine Haley and Kelley had eaten part of the salad purchased June 5 at a McDonald's in Southlake before the dead rodent was uncovered.

The women became violently ill and endured long-lasting physical injuries, the lawsuit said.

In the Cowboys' loss to Philadelphia on Oct. 8, Owens was seen screaming at Haley on the sidelines. Owens later said his relationship with Haley was ruined, but then said after his three-touchdown game against the Texans on Oct. 15 that there was mutual respect between the two.

conclusion: dont fuck wit T.O.

wow! that almost makes me want D-Hall to not win his matchup. btw the two of them had a pretty thorough trashtalking session a while back and they've been replaying it on local radio all week. sometimes I think Hall's a little overrated but whatever, can't argue with 4 interceptions and a TD can you.

WAHT are you talkin about

In a survival league, everyone picks one team per week to win. If you pick wrong you're out. Once you pick a team once, you can't pick them again.

I got booted from mine last week on that fuckin' 62 yard field goal and want to start a new one with you folk.

Can we get six folks who'd be up for it?

wtf how is SCOTT FAJITAS suddenly tearing fools up?

http://www.win50bucks.com/sf1.jpg

DIVERSITY in the linebacker corps. Simoneau despite being from fucking Kansas obv belongs with the Saints due to frenchy S Louisiana name. Scott Shanle no one knows who he is or where he came from. That John Feinstein book made me see the awfulness of the Ravens in a more subtle and nuanced light and I look forward to their public emasculation tomorrow.

adam (adam), Sunday, 29 October 2006 04:12 (nineteen years ago)

Edgerrin James, who left Indianapolis during the offseason to sign a four-year, $30 million contract with the Cardinals, leads the NFL in rushing attempts but is averaging 2.7 yards per carry. He has not rushed for more than 94 yards in a game with Arizona.

He gained 34 yards on 14 carries in the loss to the Raiders as the team was held to 258 total yards and three field goals. Against Chicago, he had 36 carries for 55 yards.

"I wasn't prepared for this, man, I really wasn't, when making my decision," said James, who has run behind a struggling offensive line this year. "I don't know what we're doing now."

Looks like Edgerrin James is finding out the hardway what going into the football desert is like. At least Edge might get to enjoy that money after he retires, if he can still walk by the time he gets to leave Arizona.

On the flipside, Joseph Addai is starting to look pretty good with the Colts. The guy has some nice acceleration and has made some nice plays of late.

"the emergence of the Saints defense is what's fucked me up the most. they have a couple of great defensive ends and that's about it. wtf how is SCOTT FAJITAS suddenly tearing fools up?"

Linebackers get a whole lot of glory because everyone is blocking the defensive line. A good and agressive linebacker can all the sudden become super human playing behind a big ole' D line that leaves them open to lay waste to anything coming their way without a blocker in between.

Earl Nash (earlnash), Sunday, 29 October 2006 06:29 (nineteen years ago)

I kind of wish I had spent more time watching the Ravens-Saints game instead of Barber Bros Reunion Party just so I could see what the hell Billick was doing to those poor kids.

Their main offensive weapon last night was Deshaun Foster; where was th' Man?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 30 October 2006 15:03 (nineteen years ago)

i was stuck with the bears game as the only game on, at half time i left to go do some grocery shopping. SHOPPING DURING BEARS GAME = CLASSIC!! i had the whole store to myself. plus i got home in time to see the indy/denver game. and after watching that game the pats better hope to get homefield advantage if they have any hopes of beating either of those two teams in the playoffs.

i still don't get how/why the officials didn't review that play.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 30 October 2006 16:01 (nineteen years ago)

Agreed. The play by play/color guys were all like, "Well, I guess there's no way he could've landed inbounds... unless of course he did."

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 30 October 2006 16:07 (nineteen years ago)

aren't they supposed to review plays past the two-minute warning anyway? it's like the refs just didn't feel like it, or something. crazy.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 30 October 2006 16:22 (nineteen years ago)

is that a reviewable play though?

I like how the Browns simply refused to try get a first down in the fourth quarter.

lk (lawrence kansas), Monday, 30 October 2006 16:26 (nineteen years ago)

throw into the endzone with no time (basically) and a clear shove by the defense is not reviewable how? if it was a running play, they'd probably be looking to see if the ball broke the plane, no?

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 30 October 2006 16:32 (nineteen years ago)

I thought a force out was a reviewable play. Apparently not.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 30 October 2006 17:29 (nineteen years ago)

There were a LOT of those going on this weekend, Eisen is going to have a field day with Whosyamamma from the refs board. The Dallas-Carolina game was like a mystery with when they would decide to call interference and when they wouldn't (T.O. face-masking a dude not once or twice but THREE TIMES: not a penalty. T.O. kind of being around a defender but not paying good attention to the ball: OFFENSIVE PASS INTERFERENCE 73 YARDS)

Allyzay Eisenschefter (allyzay), Monday, 30 October 2006 17:44 (nineteen years ago)

when you say TO facemasking, was that after a turnover? cuz offensive players can pretty much maul facemasks as much as they want (cf. stiff-arming)

(9ò_ó)-o Q(^.^Q) (Adrian Langston), Monday, 30 October 2006 18:38 (nineteen years ago)

No no not turn-over, in episodes where T.O. blatantly lost track of the ballRomo threw the ball past T.O. and it was incomplete.
