In sixth grade, I baked chocolate chip cookies for my (first) boyfriend. I put them all in this huge mason jar and tied a christmasy bow around the top. A few weeks later I found out he didn't like them, so he gave them all to his fattie friend Jeremiah who ate them all in one sitting.

jesus god don't i.

all this cookie talk is going to drive me insane. my ex is on google chat right now talking about how she needs to buy some tins so she can send me some cookies for christmas.

PLEASE MAKE IT STOP.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 17:36 (nineteen years ago)

I bought a dozen oatmeal raisin cookies the other day. I was originally going to take 11 of them and diagram plays using the single wing system but I ate four.

lk (lawrence kansas), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 17:46 (nineteen years ago)

ok seriously Mr. midnight do you

a. own a fucking oven, a bowl and a wooden spoon?
b. live in a city, and have dollars?

LISTEN U TURBO CROUTON (TOMBOT), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 17:48 (nineteen years ago)

own, no.

there is an oven in my apartment. i do own a mixing bowl. i have no wooden spoon. i do live in a city. i have no dollars and in fact am overdrawn until payday on friday. i don't think i've been overdrawn since i was 21.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 18:03 (nineteen years ago)

Wow, in that case, I feel terrible, and will see if my lovely wife would send you some cookies.

Allyzay Eisenschefter (allyzay), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 18:24 (nineteen years ago)

better throw in a package of evaporated milk just in case

lk (lawrence kansas), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 18:30 (nineteen years ago)

You know, one thing that would have made me really happy during those hand-to-mouth times would have been some EVAPORATED MILK.

The Android Cat (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 18:53 (nineteen years ago)

i may be a morally reprehensible individual but even i draw the line at getting chocolate chip cookies from another man's wife.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 19:03 (nineteen years ago)

I'm starting to think maybe chocolate chip cookies is code for something?

horseshoe (horseshoe), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 19:06 (nineteen years ago)

if me and david r are the only two people who know what the hell chocolate chip cookies means then this is both 100000x more tragic/hilarious than i thought.

Didn't my $3 back alley (OK I said parking lot) chocolate chip cookie post prove anything??

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 19:27 (nineteen years ago)

oh, yeah, leee's in on this too.

and please excuse the non-nfl item but ILB makes me sad, leee- 9you know anything about this dude the bosox are paying $51M for the rights to NEGOTIATE with? he throws a "gyro" ball? so, what, he doctors it with feta cheese?

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 19:27 (nineteen years ago)

what is going on here

lk (lawrence kansas), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 19:28 (nineteen years ago)

and then all of a sudden he's dating this girl who makes, like, the BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES EVER. and he's all like, WHOO HOO!! i'm gonna have chocolate chip cookies ALL THE TIME!!!

what i wouldn't give to truly and completely understand that sentiment.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 19:31 (nineteen years ago)

Supposedly, the "gyro" ball thing is just a myth. But he's been ridiculously affective in the Japanese Leagues, so, yeah, the Red Sox are going to pay the Seibu Lions FIFTY ONE MILLION dollars if they can successfully negotiate a contract w/ Mr. Gyro Ball (& his agent, Scott Borassss), because Mr. Ball isn't a free agent. If they (Gyro / Borassssss) no likey contract, Seibu no get FIFTY ONE MILLION.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 19:35 (nineteen years ago)

that makes perfect sense now that i think about it. so it will wind up costing them $100M, probably 50M of which will go to player.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 19:40 (nineteen years ago)

I read something (possibly a second-hand article that cited Will Carroll) where a coach got a HS pitcher to try out the GYROBALL, and once he got the mechanics down (instead of throwing across your body, your arm actually goes out/a righty's palm will be facing 3B after throwing it), the break on the pitch was ridonkulous.

What is the most awesome thing about the gyroball (which Matsuzaka, the Japanese $51 million man, may or may not throw) was that Japanese scientists engineered the pitch through computer simulation and Godzilla-style bioengineering.

IT'S A BROWNIE

i knew that based solely on my prowess at unlocking "historic teams" in earlier versions of madden.

AllyzayEisenschefterBDawkinsFlyingSquirrelRomoCrying.jpg (allyzay), Thursday, 11 January 2007 17:13 (eighteen years ago)

madden needs an entire game based only on "throwback" teams. pick a year from the past and do the entire league.

TRUE STORY: i shed a tear at the end of Elf

lk (lawrence kansas), Thursday, 11 January 2007 17:14 (eighteen years ago)

whoa I can fly to Chicago for like $100 round trip FTW

xpost what, when they are all singing? It's pretty heart-warming, dude.

AllyzayEisenschefterBDawkinsFlyingSquirrelRomoCrying.jpg (allyzay), Thursday, 11 January 2007 17:15 (eighteen years ago)

I should see Elf. I cry at basically everything.

Ally, yay! my attempt to talk Chicago up at this time of year: it's cold but it's not as cold as usual, what with the end times being upon us. also: your job is not here. yay!

horseshoe (horseshoe), Thursday, 11 January 2007 17:18 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, the singing part :"'-(

lk (lawrence kansas), Thursday, 11 January 2007 17:19 (eighteen years ago)

Hmmm those are both pretty good points. And I am extremely, extremely bored with everything right now. Chicago must be better than Washington DC (which is extremely cold this week as well, nice job at going from 80 to 20F God). I am going to consider this because $100=a lot less than a trip to NYC via Amtrak?? WTF.

the singing part is a choke up for me as well but I'm pretty lame. I cried when I saw Cool Runnings, and the bobsled fell.

AllyzayEisenschefterBDawkinsFlyingSquirrelRomoCrying.jpg (allyzay), Thursday, 11 January 2007 17:21 (eighteen years ago)

sports movies always make me cry.

horseshoe (horseshoe), Thursday, 11 January 2007 17:26 (eighteen years ago)

(also re: coming to Chicago, you probably already know people in town, and I realize I am an internet person, but if you need a place to crash, I have plenty of room.)

horseshoe (horseshoe), Thursday, 11 January 2007 17:28 (eighteen years ago)

i was going to use miles to pay for my flight to nyc in march but at american it's $118 from ORD to LGA round trip tax included. i'll save those miles for someplace more expensive.

madden needs an entire game based only on "throwback" teams. pick a year from the past and do the entire league.

or better yet, strike a deal with the nfl players alumi or whatever their bargaining arm is called and licence the old names! it's so frustrating to try to remember who the old patriots players are, esp. when the #s don't always correspond with the position. like the '76 pats were qb'd by steve grogan (#14) but historic madden has the '76 pats qb'd by a #11. but madden #11 is 6'5" 215 lbs, went to k-state and is a very mobile qb. just as grogan was 6'5" 215, went to k-state and was a scrambling fool until his knees went all magnets-and-iron-filings on him.

anyway, that's my rant. licence the names madden! i'm sure the nfl alumni pension fund could use the $$$.

xpost- re: crashing. i would totally offer up my place but i live in a shit hole and i don't even like to stay here. but if you don't have four walls and a roof i'm marginally better than sleeping outdoors.

chicago kevin (chicago kevin), Thursday, 11 January 2007 17:29 (eighteen years ago)

c('°c) (Leee), Thursday, 11 January 2007 17:31 (eighteen years ago)

xpost

do you think people would buy a special edition of madden with the entire history of the NFL on it, and featuring NFL Films music? Like I'm talking a metal tin box set superfan Madden that would go for about $160 retail. people would buy that shit though, wouldn't they?

TOMB07 (TOMBOT), Thursday, 11 January 2007 17:36 (eighteen years ago)
