BCS Title Game, what say ye?

Underdog Florida Gators of flawed but seemingly unstoppable Ohio State Buckeyes.

ESPN said last night that 6 out of the last 8 championship games have gone to the underdog and I see no reason that this one wouldn't.

who cares? not me.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 8 January 2007 18:41 (eighteen years ago)

Then why you postin' fool!

Allyzay Eisenschefter Pop You To The Extreme (allyzay), Monday, 8 January 2007 18:43 (eighteen years ago)

I care, because if Florida loses my brother will drink twice as much as normal, start to cry and I'll have to drive his lame ass home to his wife and get scowled at.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 8 January 2007 18:43 (eighteen years ago)

it sez "what say ye," and i have to say that this has been almost the worst bowl season ever. and it's not because of any "hate the bco" crap, just all the games have sucked (with the exception of boise state but fuck them and their blue turf).

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 8 January 2007 18:46 (eighteen years ago)

The system is pretty jacked up, I have to admit.

Allyzay Eisenschefter Pop You To The Extreme (allyzay), Monday, 8 January 2007 18:48 (eighteen years ago)

i could give a fuck about "the system," i just want some good games. and i want them NOT TELEVISED ON FOX.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 8 January 2007 18:50 (eighteen years ago)

Well then watch pro sports if you want good games, LOL etc

what is your definition of a "good game" if you aren't bitching about the system and the set up of the bowls? Because there have been some tight, exciting games.

Allyzay Eisenschefter Pop You To The Extreme (allyzay), Monday, 8 January 2007 18:51 (eighteen years ago)

Agreed. Fox has no business messing with the college game. What they do to the NFL is bad enough.

The BCS will go to a playoff format by 2012, mark my words!

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 8 January 2007 18:52 (eighteen years ago)

ha!

jhoshea thought-tool of punk (scoopsnoodle), Monday, 8 January 2007 18:54 (eighteen years ago)

I have to root for the Buckeyes because it seems half the team is from the cleveland area so it's my last chance to taste success :/

lk (lawrence kansas), Monday, 8 January 2007 18:55 (eighteen years ago)

The question is: will I make it past the halftime pageantry (approx time- 1hr 15mins)

lk (lawrence kansas), Monday, 8 January 2007 18:57 (eighteen years ago)

Well then watch pro sports if you want good games, LOL etc

lol whut??!? raiders, falcons, browns, etc.

what is your definition of a "good game" if you aren't bitching about the system and the set up of the bowls? Because there have been some tight, exciting games.

the louisville/wake forest game was "tight," but featured some ugly-ass football. nothing else i've seen has been played well except maybe boise state.

i guess i should just keep to regular season sec games or something. auburn v. lsu was the game of the year.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 8 January 2007 18:57 (eighteen years ago)

the boise state game and the insight bowl were better than any NFL games i saw this year.

lk, the browns should draft troy smiff!!! that would be tyte imo

SEACREST OUT OF IRAQ! (Adrian Langston), Monday, 8 January 2007 18:57 (eighteen years ago)

OK dude there is no hope for you if even when I type "LOL etc" next to something, y'all still gotta be ballin. The Raiders are a high school team, btw, not a professional footballer association club.

Allyzay Eisenschefter Pop You To The Extreme (allyzay), Monday, 8 January 2007 18:59 (eighteen years ago)

i was lollin' with you not at you!

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 8 January 2007 19:00 (eighteen years ago)

hahaha i just said you was ballin dude i was teasing you 100% of the way! never mind, this is starting to eat itself.

most football games are ugly-ass football, though, is the thing. that is sometimes not a bad thing

Allyzay Eisenschefter Pop You To The Extreme (allyzay), Monday, 8 January 2007 19:01 (eighteen years ago)

auburn v. lsu was the game of the year.

Close. It was actually Rutgers v. Louisville.

smith will play for the Browns if Ohio gets a in n out burger franchise

Asked about his familiarity with the Phoenix area on his fourth bowl trip here in the last five years, the Heisman Trophy winner launched into a passionate description of his appreciation of In-N-Out Burger, a chain of 203 fast-food restaurants located only in Arizona, Nevada and primarily California.

"For the folks back in Ohio, they need to understand first and foremost, it is a fresh burger," Smith said, breaking down the burger like he breaks down a defense. "The lettuce and tomatoes are extremely fresh. And they toast the buns. That's huge. That's key. They use a special kind of sauce, too. The sandwich is incredible after a long night."

lk (lawrence kansas), Monday, 8 January 2007 19:04 (eighteen years ago)

In-N-Out Burger will go nationwide by 2012, mark my words!

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 8 January 2007 19:05 (eighteen years ago)

bold clam!

lk (lawrence kansas), Monday, 8 January 2007 19:06 (eighteen years ago)

WTF there are like no In-n-Outs in Arizona. He's thinking of Sonic.

Allyzay Eisenschefter Pop You To The Extreme (allyzay), Monday, 8 January 2007 19:07 (eighteen years ago)

Haha.

(I really wish theyd go nationwide anyway... I've been deprived of the In-N-Out for 32 years now)

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 8 January 2007 19:11 (eighteen years ago)

WTF, In-n-Out patties are oxymoronically dry greaseburgers, maybe athletes also get better hamburglars too.

u are not my friend no more.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 8 January 2007 19:46 (eighteen years ago)

Don't worry, it was a fluke. L'ville will pound them in 2007 surely.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 8 January 2007 20:28 (eighteen years ago)

both teams played like crap that night!

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 8 January 2007 20:42 (eighteen years ago)

It was all about the 4th quarter, though.

Re: MONDAY FOOTBALL GAMES

Is it against NCAA regulations to show a major bowl game on a Friday or Saturday night? This game shoulda been on Saturday night.

thanks for reading

lk (lawrence kansas), Monday, 8 January 2007 21:27 (eighteen years ago)

It should've been on last Wednesday!

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 8 January 2007 21:30 (eighteen years ago)

Wednesday?!

r u trying to kill me?

One hour intro's and pregame jawing + One hour halftime festivities + Clock stopping after every first down + OSU running up the score = me taking tomorrow off work

lk (lawrence kansas), Monday, 8 January 2007 21:41 (eighteen years ago)

NO GAMES SHOULD EVER BE ON SATURDAY NIGHT. i got shit to do, drinks to drink, etc.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 8 January 2007 21:45 (eighteen years ago)

I don't think they really need to go to a playoff, athough 16 team NCAA football tourney would be about the best thing since sliced bread. I think all the need to do is turn two of the big BCS bowl games into a Final Four seeded 1/3 & 2/4, then have a championship game of the winners of the New Year's day bowl winners. You might be able to make an arguement on the last couple of spots, but at least there would be a chance for a team around #4 to prove its point.

Earl Nash (earlnash), Monday, 8 January 2007 23:46 (eighteen years ago)

I was thinking 8-team rather than 16, but I think your final four idea has a greater idea of getting considered.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 8 January 2007 23:55 (eighteen years ago)

If they go to #16 they could let a few of the little guys like Boise State or Northern Illinois into play. I think it would be like the first week of the NCAA hoops tournament to the tenth power. They could make the bowls into the games of the tournament and start the thing

Round of 16 - First weekend after Thanksgiving
Round of 8 - Two weeks later
Round of 4- New Year's Day
National Title Game- Week before Superbowl

I'd take the regular season back down to 10 games and keep the conference championships, maybe keeping auto bids fo the biggest conferences based on that game. I think the NCAA would make so much damn money off of the tournament, it would offset the loss of the extra games.

It would be the best thing since sliced bread, but it would ultimately just be more exploitation of college athletes and there are too many people making too much money off the way things are setup now for it ever to happen.

Earl Nash (earlnash), Tuesday, 9 January 2007 00:20 (eighteen years ago)

Think of the first weekend, eight HUGE college football games over a Thursday, Friday and Saturday the weekend after Thanksgiving. Miller and Budweiser would run out of beer. There would be a pile of money from here to the moon gambled that weekend.

Earl Nash (earlnash), Tuesday, 9 January 2007 00:25 (eighteen years ago)

There are still a few regular season rivalry games traditionally played Thanksgiving weekend (well, I know of at least one: Ole Miss vs. Miss. State for the Egg Bowl). They might grumble about having to adjust schedules, but I like the idea, myself. Getting schools in general to take the revenue cut of going back to 10 games would be a huge feat.

do i have to draw you a diaphragm (Rock Hardy), Tuesday, 9 January 2007 00:31 (eighteen years ago)

jesus this game is roffles.

TOMB07 (TOMBOT), Tuesday, 9 January 2007 04:18 (eighteen years ago)

Buckeye this.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Tuesday, 9 January 2007 05:06 (eighteen years ago)

i missed the 2nd half and don't know who won yet but damn, florida seemed to handle osu pretty easily.

did anyone else want to throttle the announcing crew last night? did they seem overly pleased with themselves? i can't remember the last time i heard people laugh so much at their own banal, cat-turd comments and observations.

chicago kevin (chicago kevin), Tuesday, 9 January 2007 14:14 (eighteen years ago)
