art monk deserves to be in the hof only as much as carl yastrzemski does if you took out yaz's '67 season. he was never the most dominant person on the team and got his records solely through longevity.

art monk is like the polar opposite of jim rice. rice was insane for a few years where he was the most dominant player in the league at least if not the game. sox probably would've won the series against the reds if vern ruhle hadn't broken rice's wrist in september. as late as '86 rice was still hitting .320 with 20 homers and 100+ rbi. then his bat speed went away almost overnight. by '88 he was a shell of himself and i would cringe when he came up to the plate in a crucial situation. it got to the point where you could almost pencil in 6-4-3 before he even saw the first pitch.

Irvin, a St. Thomas Aquinas High School graduate, said he was spurred to do the cover in support of his late brother Vaughn. Michael Irvin said he discovered his brother wearing women's clothing in the 1970s.

"And through it all we realized maybe some of the issues I've had with so many women, just bringing women around so everybody can see, maybe that's the residual of the fear I had that if my brother is wearing ladies' clothes, am I going to be doing that?
