Scream a lot. At the refs when they make calls against your team. at your team/coach when they make bad plays/calls. at the other team randomly without reason.
also, cheer a shitload when your team does something good.
Also make lots of lewd jokes about the opposing team's QB's mom.

Hand your debit card to everyone you see. After you hit $500, they let you go home.

I do feel guilty for getting any perverse amusement out of it (Rock Hardy), Sunday, 6 November 2005 01:09 (twenty years ago)

High five everyone around you when team scores touchdown. Heckle crowd members from opposing team. Pretend that you didn't space out during a long play and cheer with everyone else even though you're not really sure what happened. Observe the dude who runs around collecting the cable behind the cameraman, reflect that his job kinda sucks.

Drink lots of beer.... Eat whatever your area's specialty is off the closest friendly grill in the parking lot (unless you are a 9'ers fan and your staduim is too tight assed to let you tailgate).

PLEASE DO NOT DO THE J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS THING WHILE ON YOUR RIDE HOME THOUGH. NO ONE ELSE ON THE TRAIN ENJOYS IT. TRUST ME.

This was great. I noticed a few things:
There's a LOT of paper airplane throwing. If a section managed to throw one that got on the field there was often inappropriate cheering. One section got one through the uprights and a quarter of the stadium went batshit.
To get the crowd riled, the jumbotron would linger on soldiers in camo just prior to a Jets play. Weak.
Everybody at the stadium was real friendly!
There are always jets above the Jets.
I can't bring myself to do the cheers and scream defense. I'm more of a "GOOD CUT!" guy.
Eight dollar shitty bbq sandwiches taste great in an arena.

four years pass...

I went to my first NFL game in 2008. Saw the Browns come down to Jacksonville and beat the Jaguars, and it was fugly.

Three Sundays from now, I'm subjecting myself to more Florida football, only this time the Saints are coming to play the Bucs. Hoping for a more competitive/interesting game, and this time I have seats on the home side (I don't guess it makes much difference, but I assume the standard "tv view" will be less jarring).

I'll let you guys know how loud the canons on the pirate ship actually are if the Bucs score.

I love the piratey trappings of the Bucs. Seriously. Cannons! Pirate ship! Pirate hats! Swords!

I will cross all my fingers and toes for a Bucs scoring drive.

We have our first tailgate of the season in Week 5, Sunday after this one...Raiders v Chargers. I will try to remember to document the more colorful aspects of the parking lot :)
