Before going to commercial at one point during OT, they showed Shockey laughing and gloating at a TV camera (not the Seattle bench) just as they tried the FG (I forget which one, though!).

No, I saw the shot. Shockey is pointing both fingers at a camera on the sideline, not at the stands, and not laughing, but just kind of being a jackass, and then WHOA, AW, SHIT. It was the second FG attempt/miss by Feely. By the third one nobody was acting like that.

Why does it seem like every camera in use for football is geared for dual-speed playback? I guess you have to, to get the slow-motion effect on gatorade dumps.

I dunno about that - I'm speaking from a totally ill-informed perspective, but their defense seems A-OK, Portis is Portis, and if they can get someone to actually complete a pass (which I think they have now!), and their O-line remembers why they get the big buxx, they're probably good for at least what they have record-wise right now.

Washington is close to being good

I bet Joe Gibbs pulls it together next season. They were a lot better than anyone expected them to be this season. And Gibbs is such a great coach.

I used to live in DC and I was there for the 91 Skins, which to this day is still the best football team I've ever seen. It's hard to believe they've only made the playoffs once since Gibbs left.
