I'll take Lofton and Reed ahead of Smith and Sharpe (Lofton way ahead of either, in fact). It's hard to leave Fryar off that list, but Irvin's numbers stack up; meanwhile, Fryar had the misfortune of playing on some genuinely bad Patriots teams in the early 90's.

If you were going to extend this to all receivers, would anyone leave off Shannon Sharpe?

Since this isn't the Top Ten Nice Guys list, TO is tops on mine. He's the best WR I've ever seen--including Rice. The guy singlehandedly broke the Giants in that playoff game three seasons ago. That sent us into a 2 season tailspin that we've finally just gotten out of.
Not that many from the 80s made my list, but you could easily make a case for Lofton, Art Monk, John Taylor, or Andre Reed. Rod Smith, too.

And you's got room for one of them! (unless you really think Michael Irvin is worth two spots...)

If you're playing Tecmo Super Bowl, absolutely. But by the same logic Marion Butts should go on your all-time RB list.
