How are player salaries determined and when do they change? All player salaries are adjusted at the end of each professional football week, using a Yahoo! Sports algorithm that takes into account real-life performance from the current and prior seasons. All salary adjustments will be computed within a 24-hour period after the final game of each week. During this period of time, managers will not be allowed to add or remove players from their roster. Rosters will be unlocked once the salaries for all players in the game have been updated. No player can ever have a value of less than $1 million, and these values are not, in any way, based on actual real-life player values.

are the current values set in stone until after the first week? i'm assuming so~

This is just too over my head.
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 23 August 2007 23:02 (eighteen years ago)

― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Friday, 24 August 2007 18:24 (eighteen years ago)
i miss the douche ;_;
― brownie, Friday, 24 August 2007 18:31 (eighteen years ago)
So, the point of this league (I think, and yes I know I started it) is to pick out "undervalued" players and then trade up?
― forksclovetofu, Friday, 24 August 2007 20:47 (eighteen years ago)
oh i forgot the douche ;_;
― the douche (RIP ha ha), Friday, 24 August 2007 21:44 (eighteen years ago)
if only y'all were in Texas, I run a football league with an actual salary cap - your entry fee is however much you spend on the initial roster (up to $200). Last year's winner walked with ~$900 after his team and transaction fees, I believe.
― milo z, Saturday, 25 August 2007 16:02 (eighteen years ago)
yeah uh YOU RICH TEXANS ARE AWESOME
― Dimension 5ive, Saturday, 25 August 2007 17:06 (eighteen years ago)
you would be surprised at the things degenerate fantasy players will give up to play.
― milo z, Sunday, 26 August 2007 01:57 (eighteen years ago)
dudes this league is awesome, I like it much better?
― Gravel Puzzleworth, Sunday, 26 August 2007 13:15 (eighteen years ago)
forks from what I understand you just basically pick a new team every week.
― Gravel Puzzleworth, Sunday, 26 August 2007 13:16 (eighteen years ago)
forks from what I understand you just basically pick a new team every week
Yes BUT, you can keep a guy on your roster at the price you bought him for. At least until the bench-free bye week fucks you.
Speaking of which, I see that some of you elected not to pick up Joseph Addai for week one. Explain yrselves.
― rogermexico., Saturday, 8 September 2007 00:13 (eighteen years ago)
oh shit i just realized that i picked drew brees as my week 1 quarterback! had i remembered that, i would have been all nervous and twitchy last night. thank god my memory is for crap!
― Dimension 5ive, Saturday, 8 September 2007 02:23 (eighteen years ago)
my salary cap roster is a model of fiscal responsibility
Palmer (against ravens this week so a crapshoot i guess) Westbrook Addai A. Johnson DJ Hackett J Cotchery J Witten D Akers OAK D
― cankles, Saturday, 8 September 2007 12:00 (eighteen years ago)
Oh okay right! I get this now kind of.
― Gravel Puzzleworth, Saturday, 8 September 2007 13:45 (eighteen years ago)
It rilly bums me out that this is not a portfolio-management game where you get to reap the benefit of picks whose value improves :(
― rogermexico., Saturday, 8 September 2007 17:49 (eighteen years ago)
I like how I made it pathetically clear to the world which team is mine.
― El Tomboto, Saturday, 8 September 2007 17:51 (eighteen years ago)
also now that you made me review my picks I'm kind of lol I spent $11 on a kicker!!
― El Tomboto, Monday, 10 September 2007 15:38 (eighteen years ago)
I AM WINNING YOU GUYS
― Gravel Puzzleworth, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 12:02 (eighteen years ago)
oh man i am LOVING THIS i wish i joined 20 salcap leagues
― cankles, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 17:23 (eighteen years ago)
yeah this is so much better! now it is blind luck spread over 16 weeks rather than 1. I love how the LT price went DOWN after he scored two TDs.
― Gravel Puzzleworth, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 18:08 (eighteen years ago)
extra lol I didn't notice the "next 25" button at the bottom until I was on my second to last pick for this week I was all "dude all these guys are injured wtf"
― El Tomboto, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 18:36 (eighteen years ago)

also I am in like the top third of all salary fantasy players in DC? that is sad
i dont know who the hell anyone is!
― cankles, Thursday, 20 September 2007 02:24 (eighteen years ago)
I'm Batman.
― David R., Thursday, 20 September 2007 02:31 (eighteen years ago)
i am you guys...
― t0dd swiss, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:14 (eighteen years ago)
this is where things get tricky i guess, cuz now there are premium playerz on their byes (westbrook, palmer) and i have to agonize over whether to drop them only to pick them up next week at a higher price, or just deal with the gaps in scoring~
― cankles, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 11:59 (eighteen years ago)
Doesn't bother me, my team is so crap that I can only move up. LITERALLY arg.
― Dimension 5ive, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 14:07 (eighteen years ago)
Buying Addai, Romo and Moss early has me at number two and counting.
― forksclovetofu, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 16:59 (eighteen years ago)
how in the shit are the prices calculated? Brandon Jacobs better have fun out there this week.
― El Tomboto, Thursday, 4 October 2007 15:46 (eighteen years ago)
I am way too focused on trying to be some kind of deal-finding H&M shopper in this and not enough on grabbing up consistent high scorers
― El Tomboto, Thursday, 4 October 2007 15:47 (eighteen years ago)
cf me hanging on to wes welker the whole season so far
― El Tomboto, Thursday, 4 October 2007 15:48 (eighteen years ago)
this would be a lot more fun if you could actually see other people's teams at all.
― rogermexico., Thursday, 4 October 2007 16:58 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah, i think the idea is to keep your brilliant picks to yourself. Fuck that, here's my team:
Romo, Edge, Addai, Moss N. Burleson, Reggie Wayne Dallas Clark Crosby at Kicker and TN Def.
― forksclovetofu, Thursday, 4 October 2007 17:44 (eighteen years ago)
may want to reconsider addai there
― El Tomboto, Thursday, 4 October 2007 17:47 (eighteen years ago)
I get why the teams are hidden, and you can see who played on sunday at least. Just makes it less fun. Anyhoo, me this week barring any Addai-related gametime moves...
T. Brady J. Addai, M. Lynch R. Moss, T. Owens, B. Marshall J. Witten' M. Crosby San Francisco D
― rogermexico., Thursday, 4 October 2007 17:54 (eighteen years ago)
And fuck it, I think I'll take Green Bay in my survival league...
Hm, I guess I could trade Addai for barber and pick him back up next week for a little less if the chips fall the way I imagine they will...
― forksclovetofu, Thursday, 4 October 2007 19:38 (eighteen years ago)
I dunno about less. I assume you took him at his opening price...
― rogermexico., Thursday, 4 October 2007 20:19 (eighteen years ago)

haha yeah i only just dropped welker this week
i did so well the first coupla weeks bcz i picked up the underrated westbrook/addai and let them just straight up KILL FOOLS, but now uh, well. yeah. this is HARD!!!
― cankles, Friday, 5 October 2007 16:34 (eighteen years ago)
Switched Addai and Burleson for T. Henry and Welker. Time for Wes to earn my love.
― forksclovetofu, Friday, 5 October 2007 16:48 (eighteen years ago)
i'm going to reveal my brilliant strategies so long as yall promise not 2 copy me
Week 4 roster
QB C. Palmer RB B. Westbrook RB J. Addai WR Sa. Moss WR W. Welker WR D. Driver TE J. Witten K N. Folk DEF Oakland
Week 5
QB M. Schaub RB M. Lynch RB L. Tomlinson WR Sa. Moss WR R. Moss WR D. Driver TE J. Witten K N. Folk DEF Indianapolis
carson & westbrook on a bye and addai's dead, so i take the money saved by ditching all of them to get LT (facing Denver's 30th-ranked run defense according to DVOA) and Randy (who i was a fucking moron not to pick up four weeks ago when he was really cheap) and Schaub, who leads all players in cost per point (http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/salcap/99349/bargainhunter)
lynch + peterson should be really good pickups btw because their prices are both still really low, i only got lynch over AP cuz ade's on a bye this week.
― cankles, Friday, 5 October 2007 16:56 (eighteen years ago)
Alright, wait: is Addai really out? Cuz i got his backup and now I dont' know whether or not to field him.
― forksclovetofu, Friday, 5 October 2007 18:11 (eighteen years ago)
Addai's status is still up in the air.
― rogermexico., Friday, 5 October 2007 20:10 (eighteen years ago)
lesson learned: don't drop your best players just because they're on a bye
― cankles, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 12:39 (eighteen years ago)
oops too late
― rogermexico., Tuesday, 9 October 2007 16:52 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah, me too.
― forksclovetofu, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 17:26 (eighteen years ago)
finally clawed to the top, tho.
― forksclovetofu, Friday, 19 October 2007 23:16 (eighteen years ago)
Adrian Peterson?
― rogermexico., Saturday, 20 October 2007 00:31 (eighteen years ago)
Did anyone start Bironidas?
― Gravel Puzzleworth, Sunday, 21 October 2007 20:51 (eighteen years ago)
nope on both counts.
― forksclovetofu, Sunday, 21 October 2007 23:37 (eighteen years ago)
Um, it is sort of bullshit that they just radically changed their pricing algorithm halfway through the season.
― Gravel Puzzleworth, Tuesday, 30 October 2007 12:00 (eighteen years ago)
They did? W'oppen?
― rogermexico., Tuesday, 30 October 2007 15:36 (eighteen years ago)
OIC. WTF? My team value is now like $50 over the cap lol.
― rogermexico., Tuesday, 30 October 2007 15:39 (eighteen years ago)
I got beaten BADLY
― forksclovetofu, Tuesday, 30 October 2007 21:57 (eighteen years ago)
Isn't it a bit early in the season to be conceding?
― rogermexico., Tuesday, 30 October 2007 22:23 (eighteen years ago)
I don't know if anyone else is still playing, but I'm challenging for a spot in the top 5000, dammit.
― rogermexico., Monday, 19 November 2007 18:07 (eighteen years ago)
That team of yours is sick - I was trying to catch up but you picked up Taylor and Johnson too, and I didn't have randymoss :(
― Gravel Puzzleworth, Monday, 19 November 2007 20:21 (eighteen years ago)
Ha! Great minds etc etc. I dunno about "sick" tho - I'm looking for new answers at RB every week and I'm 200 points behind the league leaders.
― rogermexico., Tuesday, 20 November 2007 00:43 (eighteen years ago)
On the outside of the ILNFL playoffs looking in, I can at least take consolation in my salary-cap domination...

― El Tomboto, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 20:13 (seventeen years ago)

i keep making brilliant movez that dont pay off :[ i am the arizona cardinals~~~
― cankles, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 20:42 (seventeen years ago)
God, I just tanked my team on this.
― forksclovetofu, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 21:03 (seventeen years ago)
How much of your salary team is Pats/Colts/Cowboys?
Brady (opening day), Moss (week 2), Witten (bounced around a bit before deciding to just ride him).
Yah I've gotten pretty lucky with my gambles (C. Taylor the past few weeks, Ryan Grant, Andre Johnson when he came back). Thinking about swapping Taylor for M. Lynch this week...
