i hate this dude why is he pounding his chest after every 3-yard reception
― cankles, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 21:30 (eighteen years ago)

― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 18 September 2007 21:32 (eighteen years ago)
to make up for his inability to grow beautiful viking golden locks or a decent cop moustache
― El Tomboto, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 21:32 (eighteen years ago)
Antonio Gates and Jason Witten are just well-adjusted normal people AFAICT
he is the love child of phil mcconkey and ed mccaffrey.
― j.q higgins, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 21:34 (eighteen years ago)
maybe this can be our rolling Tight Ends and Their Neuroses thread 2007
― El Tomboto, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 21:40 (eighteen years ago)
But Welker is not a tight end?
― rogermexico., Tuesday, 18 September 2007 21:49 (eighteen years ago)
he's a regular WR? well dallas clark isn't really a TE either. I guess I just figure if you see a white dude catching passes between the hashmarks then that must be a TE, more and more the TE/WR distinction gets blurred these days because so many of them line up in the slot
― El Tomboto, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 21:51 (eighteen years ago)
wes welker is like 5'8! he's a scatback-type punt/kick returner!!
― cankles, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 22:49 (eighteen years ago)
he's the second coming of Steve Tasker!
― rogermexico., Tuesday, 18 September 2007 22:55 (eighteen years ago)
welker is about 60 lbs lighter and 6 inches shorter than dally clark. also, i refuse to call anyone named "dallas" by there given name, i give the tip of the cap to matt dillon in the outsiders instead.
― chicago kevin, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 17:05 (eighteen years ago)
during the jets game the announcers mentioned like 80 times how he reminds them of wayne chrebet and they werent even joking
― jhøshea, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 17:06 (eighteen years ago)
He reminds me of the other five white wide receivers.
― polyphonic, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 17:21 (eighteen years ago)
I had not realized dallas clark was like 6'3" and 250 pounds until yesterday, truth be told.
― El Tomboto, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 17:27 (eighteen years ago)
he's 240 or so? definitely more of a classic h-back build than te or wr but whatever.
― chicago kevin, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 17:31 (eighteen years ago)
Fuk u dude, he's awesome. If you wanna hate, hate on Shockey.
― forksclovetofu, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 19:21 (eighteen years ago)
shockey is the eric byrnes of the nfl
― El Tomboto, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 19:28 (eighteen years ago)
people just hate them because they have beautiful hair that they never wash because they are partying too hard
― El Tomboto, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 19:29 (eighteen years ago)
Shockey does not have beautiful hair.
― horseshoe, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 19:33 (eighteen years ago)
the difference between byrnes and shockey is the former is playing way over his head and the latter has a big rep but he underachieves so bad that he's like the 3rd best TE in the nfc east
― omar little, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 19:36 (eighteen years ago)
also their unintentional humor factor is on the same level for different reasons
― omar little, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 19:37 (eighteen years ago)
Shockey's spike last week was the likely turning point of that game.
― forksclovetofu, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 19:47 (eighteen years ago)
eric byrnes is great
― polyphonic, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 22:48 (eighteen years ago)
you could argue that lj smith is better than shockey too!
thomas i love you so much for the byrnsy ref, have u been lurking ilbb
― cankles, Thursday, 20 September 2007 01:14 (eighteen years ago)
poly i have never agreed with so much as now~
eric byrnes is the stupidest person in the whole world as proven by science
― jhøshea, Thursday, 20 September 2007 01:22 (eighteen years ago)
During the 2006 post-season, Byrnes was an analyst for ESPN's Baseball Tonight show. He has also appeared on Fox's baseball pre-game show and The Best Damn Sports Show Period talk show. (In one appearance on the latter, he surprised everyone by jumping over the set's large coffee table in one leap. After he left, John Salley demonstrated his own difficulty attempting to simply step over the table, saying of Byrnes, "That white boy has got serious ups.")
― omar little, Thursday, 20 September 2007 01:25 (eighteen years ago)
that is what makes him so great jhyinlz, he is such a simple soul but is also such a delightful merrymaker!!!

there isn't anyone on earth that i more wish to be permanently disabled in a fireworks accident than eric byrnes. i can't stand that fucking douche.
― chicago kevin, Thursday, 20 September 2007 03:04 (eighteen years ago)
so. this dude is pretty good, huh?
― horseshoe, Sunday, 14 October 2007 23:24 (eighteen years ago)

I didn't mean indestructible literally. I just meant, there's a lot of talent on the team.
― horseshoe, Sunday, 14 October 2007 23:48 (eighteen years ago)
also, Ben Watson was playing today wasn't he?
― horseshoe, Sunday, 14 October 2007 23:51 (eighteen years ago)
this dude is so awesome; I can't wait for him to get paid next year so I don't have to watch him with the pats. PLEEZ GO 2 TITANS
― forksclovetofu, Monday, 15 October 2007 01:28 (eighteen years ago)
Hmm...have Brady throw to you and have plenty of opportunities to score or have Young throw to you and maybe have 3 or 4 td opportunities per year...hmm...

never returned after rolling an ankle in the 2nd quarter. he walked off before halftime but never came back.
― chicago kevin, Monday, 15 October 2007 01:41 (eighteen years ago)
har! I'm just saying a Vince Young offense is not a receiver-friendly offense. Maybe if Billy Volek had gotten the nod...(Volek to Bennett was always fun to watch).
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 15 October 2007 01:43 (eighteen years ago)
well my salcap football faith was not unjustified. the one guy on the pats I like besides bruschi. high fives. still wish the cowboys had won.

FUCK WES WELKER I HATE HIS STUPID FACE
― El Tomboto, Monday, 26 November 2007 03:48 (seventeen years ago)
my favorite welker moment was the indy game when he caught the clinching first down, got up and screamed "YOU FUCKING SUCK" to the db who was trying to cover him.
― chicago kevin, Monday, 26 November 2007 03:50 (seventeen years ago)
oh what an ass. yay!
― horseshoe, Monday, 26 November 2007 03:50 (seventeen years ago)
i read that in bill simmons' column but i don't remember it happening. was it audible on tv?
― J0rdan S., Monday, 26 November 2007 03:51 (seventeen years ago)
no, that is A+++ awesomeness trashtalk.
xpost- it was via the wbcn parabolic microphone.
― chicago kevin, Monday, 26 November 2007 03:52 (seventeen years ago)
alls I know is Wes is a heart and hustle guy that puts it all on the field. Hate him all you want, he's the one laughing. and I'm the one mad that we traded him to a division rival.
― Bo Jackson Overdrive, Monday, 26 November 2007 03:53 (seventeen years ago)
if you like him you'll be happy that he stopped wasting his career on the dolphins.
― J0rdan S., Monday, 26 November 2007 03:55 (seventeen years ago)
i was reading the globe sports page online today where they had a interesting point, the pats basically traded deion branch for randy moss and the 49ers 1st round pick next year. the 1st round pick from seattle was traded to sf for their first next year and their 4th last year. pats traded that 4th for moss.
― chicago kevin, Monday, 26 November 2007 03:56 (seventeen years ago)
er, pats got a first next year and seattle's 4th last year which they traded for moss. nyquil must be kicking in.
― chicago kevin, Monday, 26 November 2007 03:57 (seventeen years ago)
well he had no say in the trade, so I don't implicate him at all. but is it so bad to wish one of your gutsier players was still on your roster?
I'm happy for him that he's getting the recognition he deserves now, but I wish he was still in aqua and orange
― Bo Jackson Overdrive, Monday, 26 November 2007 03:57 (seventeen years ago)
i mean it was great watching him but it was never without a sense of sadness that he was really the workingman for a team that was stuck in neutral.
― J0rdan S., Monday, 26 November 2007 03:59 (seventeen years ago)
isn't that everybody on the roster this year with any shred of talent? :)
― Bo Jackson Overdrive, Monday, 26 November 2007 04:02 (seventeen years ago)
not really. ronnie was getting his recognition, taylor got his last year. wes was a little different and i think you know that.
― J0rdan S., Monday, 26 November 2007 04:04 (seventeen years ago)
Wes won special teams player of the week in 2004. he wasn't exactly "unknown", he just didn't have national spotlight because, well, he played on the Dolphins. and note I never implied in my post that I was talking about pro-bowl caliber talent--that was your assumption.
― Bo Jackson Overdrive, Monday, 26 November 2007 04:06 (seventeen years ago)
special teams player of the week only equals "recognition" in the most literal sense. i don't think people should be going on about jason lehan if that's what you're asking.
― J0rdan S., Monday, 26 November 2007 04:07 (seventeen years ago)
oh wow can we have the rest of ILNFL devolve into you guys talking about shit teams? that would be sweet
― El Tomboto, Monday, 26 November 2007 04:08 (seventeen years ago)
I'm just saying it's not like NOBODY knew who Wes Welker was, a lot of fantasy players knew his name real well and he got several mentions in sportswriters' articles and was always mentioned during the Fins broadcasts.
Not gonna argue that he isn't in a better spot now because he's taken his game to a higher level for a team that's going somewhere.
― Bo Jackson Overdrive, Monday, 26 November 2007 04:13 (seventeen years ago)
was always mentioned during the Fins broadcasts.

― Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 28 January 2008 14:59 (seventeen years ago)
That's a good article.
― Bill Magill, Monday, 28 January 2008 16:05 (seventeen years ago)
