Justify/apologise/revel in your previous week's picks and enthusiasm:
I M SO SMRT Arizona vs Baltimore → Ravens, but a pair of TDs slip through OH NO Called it! I'm really not sold on the Ravens D yet this year.
Indianapolis vs Houston → Indy, but it's not a blowout Bandwagon starts now? I'm certainly not there yet, but anybody think Texans get a wildcard spot?
Dallas vs Chicago → Dallas; I pick over on Sexy Rexy with two picks And that would be three interceptions and I claim my prize and it's Greise in week six.
San Diego vs Green Bay → Green Bay is the upset pick They'll get well on KC next week, though.
San Francisco vs Pittsburgh → Pitty Sing My survival league pick!
Cleveland vs Oakland → Oaktown 3-5-7, playing less over their heads than Cleveland Oakland, on paper at least, doesn't look that bad right now.
Carolina vs Atlanta → Carolina; anybody want to guess what week Atlanta wins? I'm saying November 4th.
IM NOT SO SMRT Detroit vs Philadelphia → Detroit, Kitna with 300+ yards or a neck brace Well, I was right about Kitna.
Minnesota vs Kansas City → Minnesota; Kansas City is in trouble I didn't see this game or highlights yet; I would've called this the closest thing to a lock after the Steelers. So, what the hell happened?
St. Louis vs Tampa Bay → The other Saints get back on track Three points? Really?
N.Y. Giants vs Washington → Washington and the FIRE COUGHLIN chants start today Fluke win. Two or three plays aside, the Giants look really bad.

couldn't we do this in the already-existing week 3 thread?
― hstencil, Monday, 24 September 2007 03:48 (eighteen years ago)
Probably; but that's a pretty chatty thread. Mod can close and I'll paste it in there though.
― forksclovetofu, Monday, 24 September 2007 03:51 (eighteen years ago)
it might be a good new feature, maybe, i dunno. i'd think most people would want their bad picks to die with that week's thread, maybe. heh.
― hstencil, Monday, 24 September 2007 03:52 (eighteen years ago)
Like there's a limit on threads? All in all, this is a pretty low-action board anyway.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 24 September 2007 03:53 (eighteen years ago)
i'm just talkin'. it's all up to our overlord allyzay. she's still admin, right?

Arizona vs Baltimore → BAL Thank you, Matt Stover. Me love you long time.
Buffalo vs New England → PATS Even with the early Lynch TD, I wasn't ever too worried.
Detroit vs Philadelphia → DET? Looks that way. I was wrong. The Philly throwback unis must be made out of some super-fiber from Krypton.
Indianapolis vs Houston → IND (was tempted to go with HOU in a shocker, but Johnson's knee if fucked) Schaub sure does look good, though. Come back AJ!
Miami vs N.Y. Jets → Ugh, who knows. NYJ? Ugly game, ugly win.
Minnesota vs Kansas City → MIN Can a brother get a QB up in here?
San Diego vs Green Bay → GB Brett Favre sure looked like he was having fun today.
San Francisco vs Pittsburgh → PIT Alex Smith and his receivers act like co-workers who had sex at the Christmas party...no talking, no touching.
St. Louis vs Tampa Bay → TB St. Louis is in SERIOUS trouble.
Cincinnati vs Seattle → CIN Who cares.
Cleveland vs Oakland → CLE Sorry Browns fans, I was pulling for you.
Jacksonville vs Denver → DEN So what if the Jags won. Del Rio is still a moron.
Carolina vs Atlanta → CAR I hope Delhomme's okay. Carr is the kiss of death.
N.Y. Giants vs Washington → WAS Well, I didn't think the Giants would go winless, but Week 3 was earlier than expected.
Dallas vs Chicago → DAL LOL @ Berrs.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 24 September 2007 04:02 (eighteen years ago)
just make this a rolling thread for all weeks and not just week three.

Sunday, Sep. 23 Arizona vs Baltimore → 'zona they made it close anyway, 0-1.
Buffalo vs New England → PATS no comment necessary, 1-1.
Detroit vs Philadelphia → philly. detroit reverts to form, "they are who we thought they were", etc. i didn't think the reverting to form would be whiplash-inducing but they are who we they've always been, 2-1.
Indianapolis vs Houston → texans. i almost changed this but didn't. oh well.2-2
Miami vs N.Y. Jets → j-e-s-t-s jests, jests, JESTS. in a battle of two inept teams, i always take the inept team that slept in their own bed the night before, 3-2.
Minnesota vs Kansas City → minnesota. kc is lucky they don't have appalachian state on their schedule or else this year could be real embarrassing. oy, the bears should be thannkful minnesota is in the division, 3-3.
San Diego vs Green Bay → chargers. favre is due for one of those patented "6 interception throwing off his back foot because he's sick of getting hit" games. completely wrong about favre, san diego looks fucked. ldt throwing a tantrum on the sideline was hilarious. he looks like a petulant baby. 3-4. San Francisco vs Pittsburgh → pittsburgers. 48ers seem to be getting better? 4-4.
St. Louis vs Tampa Bay → tampa. why the fuck did they name the team after the water? st. louis is angling for a high draft pick. 5-4.
Cincinnati vs Seattle → seattle cincinnati has the stink of an unfocused team. 6-4.
Cleveland vs Oakland → clevo fuck, that hurts. 6-5.
Jacksonville vs Denver → denver i shit the bed on this one, i didn't want to take them and i did. 6-6.
Carolina vs Atlanta → carolinus 7-6
N.Y. Giants vs Washington → i'd like to predict a tie but instead i predict warshngton. time to take the keys away from joe gibbs. 7-7.
Dallas vs Chicago → dallas. bears offense is beyond fugly at this point. i got one right. 8-7
Monday, Sep. 24 Tennessee vs New Orleans → tennessee
not a very good week. though i did want to lay some $$$ down and tease the pats and arizona, i would have covered both those games.

i hate unnecessary threads cuz of how fucking impossible ilx searches are now~~
i am right about everything ever so i am not going to participate in this public debasement~
― cankles, Monday, 24 September 2007 07:07 (eighteen years ago)
It's too late, as you've already participated.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 24 September 2007 07:11 (eighteen years ago)
posting in the thread is not the same as addressing the subject within, you blubbering rube
― cankles, Monday, 24 September 2007 07:34 (eighteen years ago)
then why didn't you say that?
― chicago kevin, Monday, 24 September 2007 12:55 (eighteen years ago)
that's re: am not going to participate.
Losers List:
Miami - The game came out pretty close, I didn't figure that Pennington was going to play.
Minnesota - Close game, I guess the Viking offense must really be about as cruddy as KC.
Cleveland - They need to change that field goal/timeout rule. Raiders and Browns both seem to be improved.
Cincy - The Bengals special teams suck, first you blow the kickoff and give the Seahawk's the ball at the 40. They score and then you muff the kick off return and don't even let your asskickin' offense even have a shot. Peyton Manning would not put up with that scratch, just ask Vanderjagt.
Denver - This must have been the good J-ville this week. It doesn't matter to me, I still think the Broncos have much more chance of making the playoffs than the Jags. If the Jags are playing Atlanta, they will be a team to lose to them.
Washington - Giants' defense came out big. Who knew?
Only the Denver game was not real tight, so things could have gone either way. I should give the home team a bit more credit.
― earlnash, Monday, 24 September 2007 22:35 (eighteen years ago)
Arizona vs Baltimore - it seems so obvious that the Ravens should win this, but i can't see how their offense will score enough to win the game. Buffalo vs New England - if this Bills team went 0-16 i wouldn't bat an eyelid. Detroit vs Philadelphia - this will be a high score game. Eagles will make home advantage count. Indianapolis vs Houston - Houston are getting there, but they aren't ready for the Colts yet, esp without AJ. Miami vs N.Y. Jets - as unlikely as it sounds, i thought the Jets were OK against Baltimore. i think they'll take this fairly comfortably. Minnesota vs Kansas City - Vikings look good, Chiefs look terrible. San Diego vs Green Bay - Packers have to lose some for their inevitable 8-8 finish, so it might as well start here. San Francisco vs Pittsburgh - this will confirm Steelers as contenders and Niners as also-rans. St. Louis vs Tampa Bay - Rams aren't making plays on crunch downs and Bucs are playing well. close one, but TB takes it. Cincinnati vs Seattle - Another QB might throw this by trying too much after Bengals' last showing, but Hass. is a pretty cautious guy. Cleveland vs Oakland - the Browns otoh might well try too much. i think Raiders will edge this. Jacksonville vs Denver - Denver wins, no TDs. Carolina vs Atlanta - Falcons are so far behind in this game that they'll probably end up winning it. then again, probably not. N.Y. Giants vs Washington - not a good game for NYG to get their first win. i think they'll go close, but 'Skins will win. Dallas vs Chicago - Cowboys D will make Rexy look good and Bears rush will get to Romo. Tennessee vs New Orleans - Saints will outscore Titans for the win.
9 (NE, Philly, Indy, Jets, Pitts, TB, Seattle, Oaks, Car) 7 (Zona, Minn, GB, Jacks, Giants, Dall, NO)
Calling the Jets, Bucs and Raiders wins was some consolation for a poor week. I'm pissed that I fell into the trap of underrating the Jags (albeit along with everyone else) and overestimating the Chargers defence, who tried to get all up in Favre's George Foreman as expected but failed to knock him out of his rythym. I can't feel bad about not predicting how shitty the Redskins would play in that 2nd half, and the Saints continue to baffle me.
