Giants at Detroit - this will be a closer game than i think, i'm sure. GIANTS. Oakland at Minnesota - no one wins when these two teams play each other. man, oakland is a BAD BAD football team. just putrid. minnesota. San Diego at Jacksonville - i'm still not convinced san diego. i'll take jacksonville. Tampa Bay at Atlanta - tampa. Pittsburgh at N.Y. Tennessee at Denver - Titans
― leavethecapital, Tuesday, 13 November 2007 21:36 (eighteen years ago)
it seeems as if tennessee is a popular pick. but denver beat pittsburgh at home on monday night earlier this year. they're still a capable team, and the titans, well, scoring 16 pts and praying will beat oakland but not denver (or jax as evidenced last week).
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 13 November 2007 22:15 (eighteen years ago)
tennessee still has a decent shot at the playoffs though. if we assume only one team from the east and west will get in, that means they would probably be battling w/ the browns (or the jags if they fall of at the end this year) for the final playoff spot. (unless the bills go on some insane run.)
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 13 November 2007 22:19 (eighteen years ago)
Denver only beat Pburg because they started playing stupid, though. Not saying that the Titans wouldn't play stupid too, but even in a worst case scenario they could still drive far enough on the Denver DEF to get a field goal half the time.
Or not. It's a toss up really.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 13 November 2007 22:31 (eighteen years ago)
denver is the team that beat buffalo by one (at the gun), squeaked by oakland (oakland!) at home by 3, lost by 9 to jax, by 18 to indy, by 38 to san diego,
― chicago kevin, Tuesday, 13 November 2007 22:34 (eighteen years ago)
whoops.
had a bye week and beat a sluggish pittsburgh team by 3 at mile high, lost in denver to the packers, got BLOWN OUT by the lions, then went to kc and creamed 'em. i don't know what to make of that team but i say they lose.
― chicago kevin, Tuesday, 13 November 2007 22:35 (eighteen years ago)
fuck i also forgot that all vince young does is win games.
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 13 November 2007 22:36 (eighteen years ago)
titans, otoh, beat jax by 3 in florida, lost by two to indy in a squeaker, beat the hell out of the saints in new orleans, beat atlanta, lost by 3 to tampa in tampa, beat houston in houston, beat oakland by a meagre four points, beat carolina, then took it on the chin at home against jax.
i like the titans.
― chicago kevin, Tuesday, 13 November 2007 22:38 (eighteen years ago)
Will Haynesworth be back in?
― rogermexico., Tuesday, 13 November 2007 22:58 (eighteen years ago)
^yes. haynesworth is v. important.
titans are really really good as road underdogs including that smackdown of the saints on monday night when everyone was totally on NO's jock to get on track.
― johnny crunch, Tuesday, 13 November 2007 23:52 (eighteen years ago)
oh, im not saying 'yes' like i know anything about his status, btw

― hstencil, Wednesday, 14 November 2007 01:07 (eighteen years ago)
who do u guys like 4 dpoy? if haynesworth misses too many games then i think u gotta look @ jared allen~~~
― cankles, Wednesday, 14 November 2007 01:14 (eighteen years ago)
this is cracking me up
― El Tomboto, Wednesday, 14 November 2007 01:18 (eighteen years ago)
maybe cromartie if he can keep it up, but doesn't dpoy usually go to whoever has the most sacks?
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 November 2007 02:13 (eighteen years ago)
cromartie has the jason taylor-esque touchdown element.
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 November 2007 02:14 (eighteen years ago)
hmm, jared alled does lead in sacks apparently.
maybe demarcus ware as a candidate?? i would honestly like patrick willis to be in the running but he prob has no chance being a rook and on a team thats such a mess.
― johnny crunch, Wednesday, 14 November 2007 02:17 (eighteen years ago)
yeah willis def. has defensive roy on lock, but i doubt he will win dpoy. dameco (sp?) ryans was in the same position w/ the texans last year and he won def roy prety handily but i think he got crushed by taylor for dpoy overalll.
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 November 2007 02:27 (eighteen years ago)
Last two weeks 12-16, the two weeks before that 21-6...I got to get back with it.
J-ville - The Jags seem to be OK with the new QB. SD's win last week has to be one of the flukiest I have ever seen. The Chargers offense is just not right. They have all of those amazing athletes and Norv doesn't seem to know what to do with them. I'm going with Jacksonville's defensive line to keep LT in check.
Ravens - I want to pick the Browns, but when B-more gets real fugly they seem to bounce back.
Giants - I pick the Lions and they screw me, so screw them.
Saints- NO is coming off a bad game, but I don't think it as horrible as the prognosticators are making it out. Last week was the first time the Rams had Holt, Jackson, Bruce and Bulger all playing together. Houston is still kind of banged up. I could see this one being a high scoring game.
Green Bay - Carolina has a good D, but their offense is a mess. GB really has it going on, it will be interesting to see if they stumble to a second rate opponent.
Indy - The injuries are really piling up. The Colts D was really great last week. I think this will be close. The Colts Morehead has to catch those bombs when they hit him in the numbers. I figure Dallas Clark will be back. Simeon Rice got picked up by the Colts, that guy is old as dirt, but man he was tough when he was in Tampa back in the day.
Oakland - I don't think I have gone Raiders all year. Oakland has been in most of the games this year, their D is not too bad. Minnesota has lame QBs and they lost Peterson. It will be a fugly game to watch most likely.
Philly - I still think the Eagles are better than their record, which I don't know is true of the Dolphins.
Tampa - I would not be surprised if Atlanta pulls off an upset.
Cinci- I hope the Bengals are getting it together. Can Arizona really stop the run? I didn't think they could, but who knows.
Steelers- This is easy but in the back of my mind I keep thinking that they lost to the Cardinals and Broncos. I doubt they will let down, but you never know.
Cowboys - Dallas is good. Unless Washington can force a bunch of turnovers, I just don't see it happening.
Rams - St. Louis is getting healthy and the 49ers cannot move the ball.
Seahawks - I hate having to go against the Bears, but Chicago just doesn't have it together, not that Seattle is something that 'great'.
NE - I'd like to see Buffalo win, but I doubt it will happen.
Titans - I figure the cruddy Broncos will show up this week, not the one that beat KC last week or the Steelers a few weeks ago.
― earlnash, Wednesday, 14 November 2007 03:50 (eighteen years ago)
only thing denver has going for them in that game is that it will be in the rockies.

Argh I finally get to see the Bills play again and Lynch is a scratch.

no lynch? exxxxxxx-cellent </tenting fingers like monty burns>

ain't there but no one who wants to discuss football today? c'mon, it's FRIDAY guys. all i'm left with is work and a punishing hangover, someone distract me. PLEASE.

― chicago kevin, Friday, 16 November 2007 19:15 (eighteen years ago)
hi kevin - its weird but i kind of forgot everything i knew abt football after the indy game. did i mention that i went completely batshit insane during it? cause i did. anyway whats good this week in nfl land?
― jhøshea, Friday, 16 November 2007 19:17 (eighteen years ago)
i don't know why but i have a weird feeling about this game in buffalo. it would surprise me if they lost but it would not shock me at all. i'm actually less confident about this game than i was about the indy game.
― chicago kevin, Friday, 16 November 2007 19:59 (eighteen years ago)
I know you said you don't know why but can you explain better than that? worried about somebody going down?
― El Tomboto, Friday, 16 November 2007 20:01 (eighteen years ago)
no, i'm just getting a vibe that they'll come back after a week off and maybe be a little lethargic while buffalo will be like a bunch of crazed long-haul teamsters all amped up on truck stop crank. the end result would be something similar to a cow walking into a wheat thresher i think.
it's striking me as a trap game much the same way a college team comes back after a week off then goes on the road during homecoming weekend and walks into a dogfight.
― chicago kevin, Friday, 16 November 2007 20:10 (eighteen years ago)
yah bufflo's won four straight all but one of their losses has been to good teams and the one to denver was at the wire. playing in buffalo right after being crowned guaranteed perfect season champs forever. def could go wrong fast.
― jhøshea, Friday, 16 November 2007 20:13 (eighteen years ago)
i would be buying this quicker if lynch was playing.
― J0rdan S., Friday, 16 November 2007 20:28 (eighteen years ago)
isn't buffalo's secondary notoriously beat up this year? idk dudes.
No Lynch = no win. They can only connect with Evans so many times before the Pats D covers him completely, whereas Brady can throw to any eligible receiver for a TD pretty much at will.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 16 November 2007 20:30 (eighteen years ago)
I think maybe our resident pats homers are just trying to come up with excuses why football could still become interesting in 2007
― El Tomboto, Friday, 16 November 2007 20:31 (eighteen years ago)
yeah i dont think buffalo wiiiilll win but as ive said before if you look at great one or two loss teams of the past those they lost to wernt necessarily the finest football teams
― jhøshea, Friday, 16 November 2007 20:33 (eighteen years ago)
and what if we get another officiating debacle? a good conspiracy theory could be interesting. right?
― jhøshea, Friday, 16 November 2007 20:34 (eighteen years ago)
8080.
red sox, pats, celtics all win championships this year?
― chicago kevin, Friday, 16 November 2007 20:52 (eighteen years ago)

― El Tomboto, Friday, 16 November 2007 20:53 (eighteen years ago)
guys, crazy patriots fans, stop being crazy. the Bills are so bad, and without Lynch they have no offense.

none of you are watching this game anymore, are you?
I am, but inertia's a bitch.
― Rock Hardy, Monday, 19 November 2007 03:37 (eighteen years ago)
jauron's a defensive coach and was a dback when he played, maybe their paths crossed at some point.
i'm still watching the game but am also getting ready for tomorrow, setting alarm clock, programming coffee maker, wondering why i didn't do laundry this weekend, etc.
― chicago kevin, Monday, 19 November 2007 03:50 (eighteen years ago)
pats are on next sunday too? awz.
Hobbs, you devil.

― horseshoe, Monday, 19 November 2007 03:52 (eighteen years ago)
Jesus, I feel dirty watching any more of this. Time to open a book.
― Rock Hardy, Monday, 19 November 2007 03:54 (eighteen years ago)
pats are just going for degree of difficulty now. third string running back from navy scoring, dback pulling a fumble out of mid-air, etc. they'll probably leave brady in for the next series but he'll throw left-handed.
― chicago kevin, Monday, 19 November 2007 03:54 (eighteen years ago)
I can't look away. :(
― horseshoe, Monday, 19 November 2007 03:55 (eighteen years ago)
moss & welker will go out there tied at the thigh as a three-legged receiver.
― chicago kevin, Monday, 19 November 2007 03:55 (eighteen years ago)
The center will be blindfolded and they'll play only from the shotgun.
― Rock Hardy, Monday, 19 November 2007 04:02 (eighteen years ago)
offense will play defense and vice versa. ellis hobbs will become first nfl player to return a kick, fumble, interception, and throw for a touchdown in a season.

I like football, but it sucks being a Saints fan...it was much easier when you just expected them to lose and then they did. Plus Reggie Bush is kinda wimpy.

Tom, Madden and Michaels were saying that Dallas and Green Bay are officially better than the non-Patriot AFC contenders last night! They didn't mention the Giants, but it's something.

What I would give to see a rematch of Super Bowl XXXI with Green Bay beating the 19-0 Patriots and Bret Favre mounting a horse and riding off into the sunset.
― Pleasant Plains, Monday, 19 November 2007 19:11 (eighteen years ago)
I'd bet he'd have a lot of fun doing that.
god that superbowl.... i remember after the pats scored while the kick was still in the air my buddy jon saying to no one in particular "tell me he didn't just kick that to desmond howard." then watching howard effectively close the door on the pats season all the while jon letting out one long, continual "ffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccccccccccccccccccccccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk."
someone stole my jacket at the place we were watching it, jon lost both headlights of his car on the way home while the four occupants of the car pounded road sodas and cursed brett favre.
i'd love to see a rematch, AVENGE THAT LOSS TOM BRADY!!!
― chicago kevin, Monday, 19 November 2007 21:28 (eighteen years ago)
boy, if that indy v. ne game was about a clash of two ruthlessly efficient offenses and the two best in-their-prime qbs in the league, green bay v. dallas will be written up as a playground duel b/w two happy-go-lucky scamps that are always smiling and, you guessed it, having fun. maybe even throw in some teacher v. the pupil plattitudes, too.
― j.q higgins, Monday, 19 November 2007 22:31 (eighteen years ago)
it's a fun-off!
― horseshoe, Monday, 19 November 2007 22:46 (eighteen years ago)

― jhøshea, Monday, 19 November 2007 22:53 (eighteen years ago)
a total smilethon comin up for sure
favre's "just happy to be here!" kid funtime grin vs. tony romo's "i'm having threeways with 2 different cowboy cheerleaders every weekend" smirk.
― omar little, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 00:58 (eighteen years ago)
lol:
Part of the reason Dallas struggled to move the ball early was because center Andre Gurode had trouble hiking it. One shotgun snap went off Romo's facemask, two went over his head. Romo recovered both loose balls, throwing an interception on one.
"If you snap it good every time, it's not exciting for the fans," said Romo, who was 22-of-32 for 293 yards.
― omar little, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 01:03 (eighteen years ago)
