Herschel Walker is kind of a forgotten great. That dude may be one of the best football players that is not in the NFL hall of fame, yet did not get their career ended early by injury. If you add what he did in the USFL in with the NFL, his numbers would be pretty crazy. By the time he got to Dallas, the Cowboys were swimming around the drain at the end of Landry's run and he split time his first two years with Tony Dorsett.
I think Walker may be best known these days by some football fans as being apart of the most lopsided trade in NFL history. It isn't really fair, as Walker was a total badass player. The guy might even be a bit of a Curt Flood type for pro-football as he bucked the system leaving early to go to the USFL.
The guy was fast, powerful and was a good reciever out of the backfield.

I never see archive NFL/USFL footage of Walker anywhere, but just about every Saturday during college season they'll find some way to show a montage and praise his ass to heaven during any SEC game.

Maybe Bo Jackson during Auburn games, but even then he's not spoken of every week (or even every other week). Herschel is somehow worked into the conversation no matter which schools are playing. It needn't be a Georgia game.
