I'm going to cry myself to sleep. Goodnight.

Mr. Goodman, Monday, 4 February 2008 03:39 (seventeen years ago)

I'm sorry!!! It'll be OK dude

daria-g, Monday, 4 February 2008 03:41 (seventeen years ago)

Grow a god damn testicle.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 4 February 2008 03:47 (seventeen years ago)

I'm sad they lost but somehow I think it is kind of awesome? I can't explain this.

daria-g, Monday, 4 February 2008 03:51 (seventeen years ago)

cut shockey already

El Tomboto, Monday, 4 February 2008 03:52 (seventeen years ago)

I thought it was funny when they cut to Shockey the dude had a couple of beers and a mixed drink in front of him. That dude is a joke and should start looking for a place in the Oakland area.

earlnash, Monday, 4 February 2008 03:56 (seventeen years ago)

I read not that long ago that Shockey was debating whether or not he'd even show up for the game?

daria-g, Monday, 4 February 2008 04:01 (seventeen years ago)

is mr goodman tiki barber?

omar little, Monday, 4 February 2008 04:01 (seventeen years ago)

dude i hate to be the one to break this to you but the giants are one of the worst superbowl teams ever and the pats are one of the best - this shit will not be close.

forksclovetofu, Monday, 4 February 2008 05:11 (seventeen years ago)

ahahahahahahahahahahaha.

I think he'll be on vacation for a month, forks :)

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Monday, 4 February 2008 05:11 (seventeen years ago)

"We're only going to score 17 points?" Brady said before chuckling about it. "OK. Is Plax playing defense? I wish he had said 45-42 and gave us a little credit for scoring more points."

forksclovetofu, Monday, 4 February 2008 05:19 (seventeen years ago)

I'd still rather have Zach Miller than Shockey.

polyphonic, Monday, 4 February 2008 06:56 (seventeen years ago)

Jesus, Osi Umenyiora is the only guy going to the pro bowl this year with a XLII ring

El Tomboto, Monday, 4 February 2008 07:05 (seventeen years ago)

lol. especially at schatz and barnwell.

El Tomboto, Monday, 4 February 2008 08:02 (seventeen years ago)

lol yeah, things i love about this:

seeing brady eat mounds of shit
seeing the FO fags eat mounds of shit (barnwell is a giants fan, mind you)

cankles, Monday, 4 February 2008 08:33 (seventeen years ago)

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 4 February 2008 09:41 (seventeen years ago)

also: +1 brady sacks! wau!

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 4 February 2008 09:41 (seventeen years ago)

winnas!

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 4 February 2008 09:42 (seventeen years ago)

how does it feel to be cooper manning? seriously

El Tomboto, Monday, 4 February 2008 09:45 (seventeen years ago)

As long as he can keep riding the "they say he was the best athlete of all three of them..." mystique, he'll be okay. Or maybe not.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 4 February 2008 14:23 (seventeen years ago)

I’m the only one who is at work right now … Maybe I’m all the only one who made it through the night?

Mr. Goodman, Monday, 4 February 2008 14:49 (seventeen years ago)

People are stuck in parade traffic, obv. :p

jessie monster, Monday, 4 February 2008 14:54 (seventeen years ago)

Nah I've been at work for about 45 minutes, I just spent those 45 minutes talking to coworkers and cursing the football gods

daria-g, Monday, 4 February 2008 15:44 (seventeen years ago)

i can exclusively reveal that the atmosphere in my office in downtown Boston is "subdued". moment of the morning so far was when colleague emailed in to say she wasn't coming in because of the traffic problems with the parade. two minor problems with that, the first being that the parde was scheduled for tomorrow. the second one, well...

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 4 February 2008 15:51 (seventeen years ago)

lol

am0n, Monday, 4 February 2008 16:01 (seventeen years ago)

i can exclusively reveal that the atmosphere in my office in downtown Boston is "subdued"

my younger sister in slummerville emailed me this morning saying the entire city is a weird mix of homicidal, suicidal, and hungover.

chicago kevin, Monday, 4 February 2008 17:27 (seventeen years ago)

Um.. isn't it like that anyway?

daria-g, Monday, 4 February 2008 17:45 (seventeen years ago)

Someone just came into our office saying she saw two people get into a fight outside about the Superbowl.

jessie monster, Monday, 4 February 2008 18:07 (seventeen years ago)

my younger sister in slummerville emailed me this morning saying the entire city is a weird mix of homicidal, suicidal, and hungover.

This is true.

Um.. isn't it like that anyway?

No.

Mr. Goodman, Monday, 4 February 2008 19:24 (seventeen years ago)

:( Sorry. It's pretty miserable weather in DC but this city already had its morose day, though not near as bad, expectations and all that.

I went up the street an hour ago to pick up some things for lunch but am not really all that interested in food it seems. This sucks.

daria-g, Monday, 4 February 2008 19:27 (seventeen years ago)

i don't know if other Pats fans would agree, but the emerging concensus amongst people round here is that the defeat last year in the Championship game actually stung a lot more than this did, owing to the particular way that went down and who it was against.

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 4 February 2008 19:47 (seventeen years ago)

the championship game last year sucked so much balls for me personally as i was stuck on a tarmac at o'hare for the entire game. when my cell phone died the pats were up, when we finally deplaned i got to the bar just in time to see the final drive.

huge downer.

chicago kevin, Monday, 4 February 2008 19:56 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, that one sucked, and I like Eli and this Giants team minus Shockey, but come on, they are just BSing. I didn't see a whole lot of Pats season last year due to being in DC market and the games not getting moved around so everyone could watch OMG perfect season, but.. maybe they worried too much about upgrading the receivers instead of the defense.. maybe Belichick really got arrogant and assumed they'd win and let the team think the same thing. They sure looked flat from the opening of the game.

daria-g, Monday, 4 February 2008 19:58 (seventeen years ago)

on the plus side my employers should be happy the pats lost as i have had a marked spike in productivity because i don't want to read or talk to anyone about the game. coupled with the fact that today is the first day it hasn't been dead since before xmas i've done more today than i did a couple days last week.

chicago kevin, Monday, 4 February 2008 20:02 (seventeen years ago)

The AFC title game.. ugh. A 21-point lead, am I right? and I was so hyped after they knocked out San Diego the week before. I'm still stuck at WTF happened, because anyone should've known the Giants were a hot team and Pats.. won ugly last time with Rivers in bad shape and LT out. I think Brady was more hurt than he let on. Still, if there hadn't been that one miracle pass.. everyone would've been hailing Belichick as the greatest football genius there ever was and the game plan as brilliant, right?

Well, I could've been a Bills fan during the 90's, though. that's got to be the worst.

daria-g, Monday, 4 February 2008 20:08 (seventeen years ago)

they might've played beneath their usual level on both sides of the ball, much of which on the offensive side was caused by an oustandingly active NYG defensive performance, but the Pats lost that game because the same bits of dumb luck that were going for them this season went against them finally. that final drive was ridiculous - the Samuel dropped interception follwed straight up by Manning somehow pulling free of a 10-man scrum and completing the most ludicrous pass i've seen in a long time to an average receiver in double coverage. but the end of that Baltimore game was even more chancy and retarded. i'd trade the two in a heartbeat, of course, but you can't change when the luck breaks for you and when it goes with the other guy, no matter how good a coach you are.

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 4 February 2008 20:09 (seventeen years ago)

Baltimore game = the Pats vs Baltimore game this season, with the comedy drive made entirely of fouls on defense.

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 4 February 2008 20:11 (seventeen years ago)

Finally a stroke of dumb luck going against them, true - I've seen more than a few games where the opposing QB gets picked off right at a critical moment. If only Samuel hung on :(

I wish they'd lost the Baltimore game

daria-g, Monday, 4 February 2008 20:13 (seventeen years ago)

i have the most epic hangover i've had since i was, like, 19 years old.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 4 February 2008 20:42 (seventeen years ago)

It was worth it, though?

HI DERE, Monday, 4 February 2008 20:49 (seventeen years ago)

YES VERY MUCH SO

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 4 February 2008 20:49 (seventeen years ago)

had to stop by the Post Office after work and was delighted to discover that even there, in the middle of Boston, they are already selling a range of commemorative Giants stamps.

things didn't improve much at the gym, where ESPN2 was showing some kind of Tyree rise to glory feature. that's the first time I've seen any of the game since it happened. that catch gets more dumb and outrageous every time I see it. but at one point they were interviewing Tyree wearing a "Property of Jesus" t-shirt, so it wasn't all bad.

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 6 February 2008 23:46 (seventeen years ago)

the only thing that could've made that catch any better is if Tyree admitted to having a crushing hangover

brownie, Thursday, 7 February 2008 01:34 (seventeen years ago)

Well, I could've been a Bills fan during the 90's, though. that's got to be the worst.

;_;

also, guys, is jhoshea okay?

horseshoe, Thursday, 7 February 2008 06:44 (seventeen years ago)

no motion in the jhoshean

El Tomboto, Thursday, 7 February 2008 07:11 (seventeen years ago)

This is maybe the most inauspicious-yet-awesome way to leave ILX I've seen to date.

HI DERE, Thursday, 7 February 2008 14:40 (seventeen years ago)

jhoshea has left the internet because of you

Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 7 February 2008 16:58 (seventeen years ago)

dude, deadspin fucking sucks. it is sub-bottom of the barrel crap.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 7 February 2008 17:09 (seventeen years ago)

i dunno, a friend emailed me that and it made me chuckle. it's only the second football-related smile i've had this week other than the Strahan chasing Brady gif.

Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 7 February 2008 17:26 (seventeen years ago)

my favorite will leitch moment. i can't stand that cracker.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 7 February 2008 17:32 (seventeen years ago)

J0rdan S., Thursday, 7 February 2008 19:00 (seventeen years ago)

J0rdan S., Thursday, 7 February 2008 19:00 (seventeen years ago)

chicago kevin, Thursday, 7 February 2008 19:03 (seventeen years ago)

did he bang your girl or something?

max, Thursday, 7 February 2008 19:07 (seventeen years ago)

no but he did post some racist shit then when he got called on it took it down and claimed ignorance. he looked like a jagbag when he tried to deny it and was then faced with screen captures of what he posted.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 7 February 2008 19:12 (seventeen years ago)

J0rdan S., Thursday, 7 February 2008 20:47 (seventeen years ago)

dude has been a longtime john rocker supporter

max, Thursday, 7 February 2008 20:49 (seventeen years ago)

john rocker's racist?

J0rdan S., Thursday, 7 February 2008 20:56 (seventeen years ago)

the first one i remember was leitch posting a pretty insulting caricature in a story about someone (barry bonds i think but can't remember). anyway, there were some quick comments from the a-holes that said what the picture was implying then someone came out and said "hey, that's pretty racist." leitch removed the picture and the comments pretty fast and when someone said just because you took it down doesn't mean you're not a racist. leitch claimed not to know what the dude was talking about and denied it repeatedly. then someone posted a screen cap of the offending picture and leitch's post. he quickly changed from "i don't know what you're talking about" to "ha ha, it was only a joke."

fuck that douche.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 7 February 2008 21:20 (seventeen years ago)

in other news there's nothing to do at work. normally i'd leave early in a situation like this but i came in late due to the cta apparently being unaware of the possibility of snow in chicago in february. now i'm bored. any suggestions?

chicago kevin, Thursday, 7 February 2008 21:33 (seventeen years ago)

i just looked up the election results for the town where i grew up, joe biden beat dennis kucinich in a narrow 19 to 18 vote.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 7 February 2008 21:39 (seventeen years ago)

on the gop side of the house it was a lopsided 6 to 3 vote with the voters rejecting fred thompson in favor of "no preference".

chicago kevin, Thursday, 7 February 2008 21:41 (seventeen years ago)

I mean, if you bet on the pats, you hate yourself.
If you didn't bet on the giants even though you were thinking about it, you hate yourself.
If you're a bookie, you hate yourself and all the guys who did actually put down on the giants.
