the only reason i ever read the comments on the chicago tribune site is to see how long it takes before someone blames whatever the story is about (recession, natural disaster, girl scout cookies, whatever) on the jews. because it always happens.

the tribune ones are usually pretty heavily mod'ed so they don't stick around too long. but they're there long enough for someone to react to it and without the original comment in place it's like "why are you admonishing someone about antisemitism in a story about the cook county sales tax?"
