Don't cry for me Dick Vermeil-a.
And pwned is right; a half-hour after the last game? Owch.
Is he still eligible for SuperBowl tix?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 2 January 2006 04:11 (nineteen years ago)

I am extremely amused.

Dan (ICE COLD) Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 2 January 2006 15:43 (nineteen years ago)

Also we'll no longer be able to watch mike martz pace the sidelines. I imagine him lisping and fanning himself like sydney greenstreet

Jimmy Mod Is The Damnation (The Famous Jimmy Mod), Monday, 2 January 2006 16:02 (nineteen years ago)

What does Pwned mean? I see it everywhere.

Giants = Super Bowl (TCBeing), Monday, 2 January 2006 18:09 (nineteen years ago)

gear (gear), Monday, 2 January 2006 19:03 (nineteen years ago)

Also: Jim Haslett out with the Saints, Mike Martz (surprise!) is officially dumped by the Rams and Houston boots Dom Capers.
Tough Monday.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 2 January 2006 20:46 (nineteen years ago)

i'm sort of surprised that the rams fired martz, if only because he's done a fairly good job overall and certainly seems to have had enough success in the past to warrant a little more time. though admittedly there were some egos involved that might have resulted in an impasse and his game management was sketchy.

gear (gear), Monday, 2 January 2006 20:55 (nineteen years ago)

also, martz is supposedly a total cock, which can't help much

mookieproof (mookieproof), Monday, 2 January 2006 22:15 (nineteen years ago)

Martz may end up at one of the other vacancies. Maybe the viks?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 2 January 2006 22:35 (nineteen years ago)

wait for norv turner to go and watch al davis snag martz

gear (gear), Monday, 2 January 2006 23:40 (nineteen years ago)

Martz coaching the Raiders makes my head hurt.

If Sherman's gone from Green Bay, can Favre be far behind? At this point in his career, is he really going to want to break in another coach?

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 05:38 (nineteen years ago)

I can't understand why they fired Sherman! Dude has a great record and the team had hella injuries and an old ass qb this year! WTF!

Jimmy Mod (I myself am lethal at 100 -110dB) (The Famous Jimmy Mod), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 16:28 (nineteen years ago)

They didn't suck hard enough to get USC's qb in the draft.

Allyzay must fight Zolton herself. (allyzay), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 16:51 (nineteen years ago)

Did they suck enough to get A quarterback in the draft?

Jimmy Mod (I myself am lethal at 100 -110dB) (The Famous Jimmy Mod), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 16:52 (nineteen years ago)

Well anyone can get A quarterback.

Allyzay must fight Zolton herself. (allyzay), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 17:01 (nineteen years ago)

exactly. I hate brett favre. I hate how they have tom brady lined up as the next great white boy gunslinger quarterback.

Jimmy Mod (I myself am lethal at 100 -110dB) (The Famous Jimmy Mod), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 17:05 (nineteen years ago)

Tom Brady can suck a dick, I am so tired of hearing on and on and on on shows this year, whenever the MVP discussion comes up, there is always some cock who yells "TOM BRADY DESERVES CONSIDERATION." Consideration for what? Drew Bledsoe's undying hatred? WTF?

Allyzay must fight Zolton herself. (allyzay), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 17:22 (nineteen years ago)

God I hate football the hype machine.

I like how Mike Tice did his press conference in a t-shirt, he looked like he would be cleaning up the place after he was done. Tice came off as pretty ticked at the podium, reminding everyone how the Vikings had the second best record in the NFC for the past three years or something like that and he knows someone will want to hire him because he likes to teach.

I can't blame the guy, if I had to give a press conference after I got canned from a job, I'd probably be the same way.

I'm kind of suprised that so many of the football talking heads are bigging up Jim Haslett to get another head coaching job with no problem, like the way the Saints have gone over the past few years wasn't his deal. I know the team has always sucked, but the Saints lost some games with him as a coach in ways that are hard to figure out.

Mike Martz can write up some plays, but the guy is a dork of a coach. I don't trust any coach that burns his timeouts and seems to get busted ten times a game running out the play clock, let alone all of the interceptions.

All Martz had to do was run Marshall Faulk a few more times and he would have won a Superbowl and maybe we wouldn't have to live the shadow of the genius of Bill Belichick and the greatness of Tom Brady. For this alone, the guy needs to sit at home for a year of Sundays. Then again, if he did win that SB, Mike Martz's head would probably be floating up in the stratosphear with Brian Billick breaking his arm congradulating himself for being a supergenius head coach. Maybe we are better off with the bitterman Belichick being the resident NFL coaching guru.

earlnash, Tuesday, 3 January 2006 20:59 (nineteen years ago)

Norv Turner too, sooprize

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 3 January 2006 21:31 (nineteen years ago)

do we blame al davis or the raider nation for them always being among the most-penalized teams?

mookieproof (mookieproof), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 21:41 (nineteen years ago)

I blame their uniforms.

Allyzay must fight Zolton herself. (allyzay), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 21:46 (nineteen years ago)

Don't even think this. What that man did to Cleveland was exactly what Rome did to Carthage after the Third Punic War. Exactly the same thing.

laurence kansas (lawrence kansas), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 21:55 (nineteen years ago)

I think Houston should just make Reggie Bush their coach.

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 3 January 2006 21:56 (nineteen years ago)

Here's Polybius's account:

Although Art Model sacked Cleveland he wanted to spare the city further destruction. Belichick decreed otherwise, completely destroying the city and selling some 50,000 citizens as slaves. The town was stripped of its valuables and burned for ten days. The harbor and the city were demolished. The land was then cursed (the story that it was sown with salt is a later invention). Cleveland ceased to exist

They said on ESPN this morning that Jeff Fisher may be entertaining offers from Houston (seriously?!) and St. Louis (meh). Even though the Titans are stinking lately, it's still a better prospect than either of those places. Stay put, Jeff Fisher!

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Sunday, 8 January 2006 00:45 (nineteen years ago)

Fisher is Tennessee royalty; I'd be quite surprised if he left.

mike tice looks pretty tall

mookieproof (mookieproof), Friday, 24 February 2006 18:50 (nineteen years ago)

Ally, no: Unfortunately, he's still our president.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 24 February 2006 23:27 (nineteen years ago)

I think Mike Tice is around 6'7 or so. He was a definitely on the longer side of tight-ends.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 24 February 2006 23:32 (nineteen years ago)

I think GWB would be an excellent addition to the Vikings though, thinking about this more carefully.

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Monday, 27 February 2006 16:08 (nineteen years ago)

make him a punt returner

mookieproof (mookieproof), Monday, 27 February 2006 16:14 (nineteen years ago)

Or have him coach the Denver Broncos.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Monday, 27 February 2006 17:36 (nineteen years ago)

That hasn't been working out for them so great so far, you know the proverbial stepsisters at the ball and all that.

After returning to the Seattle area, where his home is undergoing a major renovation, Tice said he called his wife, who was traveling in Minnesota, to inform her he wanted to pull $200 from their bank account to put into his online account to place a bet.

The Pick 6 is a betting option at racetracks where bettors are required to select the winning horse in six consecutive races. The Pick 6 at Del Mar on Thursday began with the third race and ended with the eighth. Tice wagered $128 for Thursday's Pick 6.

The winning horse in Race 4 on Thursday was named Tebowing.

I'm glad he has found some play calling that works for him.

BAZINGA!

Weird thing about reading this story I had a short momentary vision of Henry Chinaski as an offensive coordinator.
