This is an all-purpose thread, just an excuse to post this bit of news:

Virginia Tech kicks Marcus Vick off football team
By HANK KURZ Jr., AP Sports Writer
January 6, 2006

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick was dismissed from the team Friday, the result of numerous legal transgressions and his unsportsmanlike conduct in the Gator Bowl.

University president Charles Steger announced the dismissal on the same day that coach Frank Beamer met with Vick and his mother in their Hampton Roads home, the school said. Beamer informed them of the decision during the meeting.

What did he do during the Gator Bowl??

What the hell. That sort of "accident" doesn't often look like you're stepping on a cigarette butt.

David R. (popshots75`), Saturday, 7 January 2006 07:07 (nineteen years ago)

What a piece of shit. I hope he enjoys playing in the arena league.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Saturday, 7 January 2006 08:02 (nineteen years ago)

ah, he's a human being that made a mistake.

somebody will take him. he has eligibility.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Saturday, 7 January 2006 08:17 (nineteen years ago)

Like, I wouldn't want to think that Randy Moss was done the minute some piece of garbage called him a nigger.

did Marcus look like a punk? hell yes, but who knows, was there trash talking? anyway, Vick will catch on somewhere .. we've seen it before, so it's on him .. he's gonna have to work real hard to rehabilitate himself. but someone will give him that chance. it's up to him

vick's draft chances just diminished.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 9 January 2006 23:15 (nineteen years ago)

You say diminished, I say evaporated.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 03:18 (nineteen years ago)

He pretty much had CFL/Arena League written all over him as soon as he stepped on that dude; this new info doesn't change much, imo.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 05:24 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, hmm, I already posted in this thread. AND I already mentioned the Arena League. I'm losing my touch.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 05:25 (nineteen years ago)

i can't believe he's pulling all of this shit. he's not a bad kid! just a skewed perception of reality because of his brother. and, to top it all off, he's a WAY BETTER qb than his brother is.

Y, I remember you having an anecdote a few years ago about Marcus being a pretty terrible person to deal with -- where'd your opinion shift?

scrimhaw1837 (son_of_scrimshaw), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 19:03 (nineteen years ago)

dude helped him score

j blount (papa la bas), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 19:38 (nineteen years ago)

polyphonic (polyphonic), Saturday, 16 September 2006 22:14 (nineteen years ago)

Some crazy ending today -- LSU / Auburn was wild, now Oregon / Oklahoma!

Stormy Davis (diamond), Saturday, 16 September 2006 22:23 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, those were two of the best endings I've seen so far this year.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Saturday, 16 September 2006 22:40 (nineteen years ago)

oklahoma gotta kinda jobbed from what i saw but O FUCKING WELL. very happy to see michigan take notre dame apart. wish i coulda watched the lsu-auburn game, i think auburn's the best team in the country i'm amazed it was that close if not surprised - two best teams in the sec west. obligatory 'HOW BOUT THEM DAWGS'.

j blount (papa la bas), Sunday, 17 September 2006 00:56 (nineteen years ago)

nice win for yr boys blounty. as for oklahoma: if the call had gone the other way it would just have been a penalty and re-kick, right? all the hand-wringing about OMG WORST CALL EVAR is like a) no, even if it was wrong it wasn't the worst call of all time and b) the real issue is how OK fell the eff apart like a tender piece of tofu duck and c) dennis dixon is a maniac and d) fuck toby keith for real with his "ALL DAY" pass at Fabled Autzen Stadium which is one mothergrabber of a place to play college football and e) my home state won yay.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Sunday, 17 September 2006 12:38 (nineteen years ago)

and yeah Auburn is great, love to see them vs. Ohio State in the final game for real.

and yeah haha Charlie Weis, loved that footage of you mocking your players before the game, whatta overinflated maroon

Tyrone Willingham Was Jobbed (Haikunym), Sunday, 17 September 2006 18:47 (nineteen years ago)

haha i was rooting for oregon matt! although the stuff nike keeps inflicting on them makes it harder and harder. i think my favorite team to watch this season has been west virginia.

j blount (papa la bas), Sunday, 17 September 2006 19:20 (nineteen years ago)

blount i wasnt talking about you, i was referring to all the pantload of nabobism coming from the booth, serves me right for listening to the sound but i had it on dvr and i wanted to hear their interpretation. therefore me = idiot, not the first time that lesson's been learned. or the last.

and i like UO's unis yesterday, it was like they were designed by a combination of vince lombardi, jeffrey sebelia, and whoever did the unis for the original rollerball league. HELLO JONATHAN

Haikunym (Haikunym), Sunday, 17 September 2006 20:51 (nineteen years ago)

loved that footage of you mocking your players before the game

huh? what was this all about?

Texas A&M / Army also turned out to be an amazing finish last night! Army almost came back until the General Robert Ross decided it would be a good idea to run the ball from the five with no timeouts.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Sunday, 17 September 2006 22:25 (nineteen years ago)

they didn't show auburn v. lsu in georgia?
