brownie, Monday, 6 October 2008 17:38 (sixteen years ago)

I like the NFC North imo.

brownie, Monday, 6 October 2008 17:40 (sixteen years ago)

nfc north is second place to me! the vikings really bring them down though with their new, terrible uniforms that look like an attempt to join the 1996 teams.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 6 October 2008 17:40 (sixteen years ago)

both of the south divisions are exercises in wtf

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 6 October 2008 17:41 (sixteen years ago)

i think all the divisions end up being a draw because they all have at least one team that drags the rest of the good uniforms down.

horseshoe, Monday, 6 October 2008 17:42 (sixteen years ago)

but yeah, i think NFC North is the least of the evils. vikings > redskins

horseshoe, Monday, 6 October 2008 17:43 (sixteen years ago)

giants' road unis are awful

mookieproof, Monday, 6 October 2008 17:43 (sixteen years ago)

why are the giants road unis devoid of blue? it's so confusing.

your self-declared bacon of common sense (Roberto Spiralli), Monday, 6 October 2008 17:48 (sixteen years ago)

oh hell why don't i just make one post about the subject:

afc east: the dolphins really bring everyone down. the bills new uniforms are so bad but when they wear the throwbacks, a++.
afc north: the bengals really, really hurt them badly. the steelers and the browns are great. the ravens are just "ok" but they are no bengals.
afc south: why is indianapolis in this division and baltimore is in the north? O_o also why is indy the only one of this division that doesn't dress like an arena football team?
afc west: the raiders really bring this up imo. the chiefs have nice costumes too. i will not dignify the chiefs by saying they wear uniforms, though.

nfc east: the best. the redskins have the most racist name of all the teams named after native americans, but the least racist logo by far out of that group. i will say, i do miss the old GIANTS helmets, and the cowboys could go back to their '90s unis and improve themselves.
nfc north: if the vikings hadn't redesigned, this would probably be the winning conference but their redesign is much worse than the cowboys.
nfc south: this entire division looks like epcot center's fire island exhibit. dnw. although i do admire how aggressively awful carolina's unis are.
nfc west: the cardinals really have the worst logo in sports imo, it is not even a very angry looking example of a bird! the seahawks wear the color of depression, fittingly but i think it contributes to a whole culture of fail. how do you not get depressed, putting that on every week?

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 6 October 2008 17:49 (sixteen years ago)

i mean tbh i'm not sure if this is amazing or horrifying:

i guess AFC North. i'll give Browns an extra half point for helmets.

your self-declared bacon of common sense (Roberto Spiralli), Monday, 6 October 2008 17:51 (sixteen years ago)

How can you rate Cle and Baltimore the same?!

Dolphins unis are nice!

Colts aren't boring! Good clean color combo!

Suggest you change your username to 1996!

that's more like it.

Is this going to be our "which mascot could eat the most other mascots?" thread of the week?

☑ (Pleasant Plains), Monday, 6 October 2008 17:53 (sixteen years ago)

the dolphins unis are NOT nice, they are redonkulous. but the colts unis are great.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 6 October 2008 17:54 (sixteen years ago)

dolphins are totally what drags the afc east uniforms down. ugh.

horseshoe, Monday, 6 October 2008 17:56 (sixteen years ago)

i don't like the bills' XTREME unis :( :( :(

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 6 October 2008 17:57 (sixteen years ago)

horseshoe, Monday, 6 October 2008 17:57 (sixteen years ago)

i like the colts uniforms. the horseshoe is an elegant symbol.

horseshoe, Monday, 6 October 2008 17:58 (sixteen years ago)

ok i was just reminded that the lions used to have this logo:

which they should still have imo so i think i need to reasses my worldview on whether or not nfc north is still #2 in my heart

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 6 October 2008 17:58 (sixteen years ago)

Dolphin unis remind me of sun-kissed south Florida. Where Dolphins jump through hoops of victory!

Cardinals logo is stern looking! Like, don't even try to go for it on 4th down mister.

the dolphins uniform looks like an elderly new york jewish woman who has moved to florida to retire and now insists on painting her house garish colors "to look like cubans, isn't it hilarious!"

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 6 October 2008 18:00 (sixteen years ago)

i'm guessing that the thought process with Miami was as follows:

1. what is the worst shade of green we can find?
2. what is the color that jars most alarmingly with that green?

presto uniform.

your self-declared bacon of common sense (Roberto Spiralli), Monday, 6 October 2008 18:03 (sixteen years ago)

AFC East. it is entirely appropriate that Miami uniforms are garish. o/wise I like the Norths, with pretty much the same caveats as the schef.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 6 October 2008 18:09 (sixteen years ago)

I love the Dolphins unis, if only because they've stubbornly stuck with a wacky color scheme and goofy mascot forever.

In general in the NFL, more color is better. This ain't baseball, you can look bright and garish in your skintight shiny football pants and big plastic helmets as long as all the design elements work. Unfortunately, for a lot of teams, they don't at all:

AFC East: Recent Bills and Pats uniforms bring down fine work from Jets and Fins.
AFC North: Ravens and Bengals bring down Browns and Steelers.
AFC South: Really no good unis; Indy is just OK.
AFC West: Nu-Broncos wreck whatever could have been good out here.

NFC East: Strong contender, not totally sure about recent Giants and Eagles but the foundation is there.
NFC North: Winner. Lions are average, everyone else in this group is top-notch.
NFC South: Whaaaaaat.
NFC West: Niners are classic but others are WTF.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 6 October 2008 18:13 (sixteen years ago)

The dolphin won't wear the Miami helmet and has come up with his own design which only reinforces my opinion that dolphins have no fashion sense.

The problem with the radio is that it always seems to have a bit of a lag, but maybe I could find a way to sync it with my DVR.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 17:39 (sixteen years ago)

Have the Skins worn their alternate unis this year yet? those are sharp. As are the Bills.

Was the Steelers' equipment manager drunk when he put the decal on Ward's helmet?

Bill Magill, Tuesday, 7 October 2008 19:06 (sixteen years ago)

No Skins alternates yet, but soon I hope.

I really like the Jets old NY Titans unis. It's too bad Tennessee can't lay claim on that design.

System, Wednesday, 8 October 2008 23:01 (sixteen years ago)

I'm for the AFC West being the best division.

Raiders- Classic and very influential as the back in black look has been ripped off by tons of clubs. Their logo is badass.
Broncos- I like the newer blue uniforms and helmets. I think they may be the best look of the 90s updates. The old orange crush unis were unique and not too shabby either.
Chargers- The baby blue classic uniforms are freaking dope, almost too cool to waste as a regular uniform. I like the dark blue helmet with the bolts better than white helmet. The dark blue uniforms are really cool. The uniforms that were more white and gold with the lighting bolts on the arms that the Fouts 80s teams wore were nice too.
Chiefs- It is a classic style, kind of like the Colts except in red and white. The modern uniforms are not far removed from the old 60s ones from the AFL in the same way the Colts still have the same look (although the blue looks lighter in the current Colt unis). The arrowhead logo is also pretty good.

I wouldn't go on the Dolphins holding back the AFC East. Their color scheme wouldn't work anywhere else but in Miami and a team that started playing in the Orange Bowl, but it works for Florida. I like it better than those J-ville uniforms, which are garish like all of the colors in Florida. The Jets look pretty fuddy as green is just not the color for a team called the Jets. There is a reason the Irish of Notre Dame quit wearing green and why Oregon looks terrible in any sport. I think only the Packers can rock the green and make it work and that is the helmet and logo that makes it work. The Pats old helmet is classic in a way as the guy is actually hiking the ball, but their newer ones always looked kind of USFL to me. Buffalo has a cool logo and the uniforms are not bad.
