i wish everyone would stop pretending the cowboys are some awesome team that is somehow better than what arizona's been playing like. there, i said it. t.o. spending all his time going back to being a big baby only enforces my opinion that they will lose this game. I HAVE CONFIDENCE.

CIN @ NYJ - Cinci. Favre's practical jokes have cost him the respect of his teammates
OAK @ NO - NO. See above, replace Favre with Al Davis.
CAR @ TB - TB. Pewter and AquaTeal Bowl. Hoping the game is shown in black & white.
STL @ WAS - WAS. I guess the Rams are terrible again.
BAL @ IND - BAL. Crushing defense makes up for Flacco. It helps to say Flacco in a Gilbert Gottfried "ALFAC" voice.
MIA @ HOU - Dolphins have the all important uniform edge but Houston will win.
DET @ MIN - MIN. I keep waiting for Detroit to actually play well.
CHI @ ATL - A close one for some reason. Cankles has got the Falcons playing well. Tossup.
JAC @ DEN - DEN. Watching the JAX offense last Sunday night was like watching the Browns.
GB @ SEA - GB. I dunno tho. could be close. who really knows.
PHI @ SF - PHI. McNabb! gets going again.
DAL @ ARI - Cardinals will work that desert mojo to no avail.
NE @ SD - SD. Put these teams in throwback unis, turn on the technicolor and I would care.
NYG @ CLE - sorry schef

brownie, Thursday, 9 October 2008 01:34 (sixteen years ago)

my DVR's been broken since week 3 so i haven't been able to break down any falcons games in a while, but their young players are already improving. curtis lofton (MLB) is making strides with every game. i picked them to win against chicago, but i don't really think they have a shot - bears should be able to control both sides of the los, only chance of winning is if ryan has a great game imo. roddy white took a shot to the head in practice today and is questionable for sunday, and if he doesn't play ATL's pretty much screwed.

brownie, Thursday, 9 October 2008 14:08 (sixteen years ago)

CIN @ NYJ Jets, but i think this will be close. Cincy players seem to have been shocked out of apathy by their record so far
OAK @ NO i picked NO to hammer the Vikes last time and i was kinda right, even if the result wasn't. they should make up for that here.
CAR @ TB Carolina slightly better than i thought, Tampa slightly worse. i still think Bucs edge this, though.
STL @ WAS professional, not too exciting beating administered by Wash
BAL @ IND hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. could go either way. Ravens. i don't think they give Indy the gifts Sage did.
MIA @ HOU Houston finally get it right.
DET @ MIN i think Vikes could win this without ever passing the ball.
CHI @ ATL Chicago looking fairly sturdy, won't give Falcs opportunities they will need to win
JAC @ DEN hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. i'll go Denver but i still ain't buying the Broncos.
GB @ SEA SHOOT OUT. Hawks could win this if they are super aggressive on O vs banged up Pack D but need a confidence they don't have right now.
PHI @ SF this Eagles team is a total mystery. i think they will win but niners should make it a game.
DAL @ ARI i'd guess Cards need 3 turnovers to be in this game, which is certainly possible
NE @ SD Pats have Norv's Bolts team's number, i suspect
NYG @ CLE Browns and monday night TV both need an Eli implosion to make this game interesting

brownie, Thursday, 9 October 2008 18:14 (sixteen years ago)

CIN @ NYJ -- I suppose Jets as the Bengals while seeming to improve on defense, they are still losing.
OAK @ NO -- I'm curious to see if Oaktown turns into a wreck and the Saints give up a whole lot of points. I'm going NO.
CAR @ TB-- This is a pretty interesting game. Tampa seems to be a club that I can't figure, so I will go Panthers in a squeaker and watch the Bucs make me wrong again.
STL @ WAS -- Redskins, but at some point the Rams are probably going to have a good game.
BAL @ IND -- Bmore likes to get fired up to play the Colts, but I have a feeling that Indy will pull it out.
MIA @ HOU -- After a loss like that one, Houston has to be really shook up. Miami seems like the real deal, so I will take them on the road, even though they are still kind of an unknown quantity.
DET @ MIN -- Minnesota is not quite right, but the Lions have only won like 3 games on the road in the last 10 years.
CHI @ ATL -- Wow, who would have thought this would be an interesting matchup? I figured the Bears were set for a big slide and have come through pretty well with the offense being much better than expected and the defense being solid. I have not yet seen the Falcons yet, but you cannot argue with the results. I'm going to be a fan boy and go Bears, but this looks like a pickem game probably leaning Atlanta. Going by the stats, Michael Turner is looking like an excellent pickup.
JAC @ DEN -- This is another interesting matchup. J-ville is kind of up and down, but I would suppose their game plan is going to be the same as a Colts game to completely control the clock and keep Denver's passing game on the sidelines. Their success is probably tied to controlling the ball and Denver has been giving up 134 yards a game on the ground. I'm going Jags on the road.
GB @ SEA -- This used to be a big TV game...not anymore. I think the Packers are the better club, but Seattle is a tough place to win. If Rogers plays the whole game, I'm going Packers.
PHI @ SF -- The 49ers are improved, but I figure they have not seen a blitz like the Eagles. I'm going Philly.
DAL @ ARI -- This is the biggest game the Cardinals have had in a long time, if they win they move way up the charts to being a 'contenda'. I figure this one will be an old school AFC type score like 41-38. I still have to figure the Cowboys will win, but I would like to see the Cards pull it out.
NE @ SD -- This one is definitely not the big game you would have figured before the season started. I figure it will be kind of an ugly game and the Chargers pull it out in the end.
NYG @ CLE -- Boy the Browns have slid into the toilet and the Giants are looking like thumpers. I figure this will either be a laugher which in the end starts the Brady Quinn era or Cleveland will play the G.I. Ants like the Bengals did at home and keep it close. Either way, I'm going New York. Browns are not good against the run and the Giants seem to be pounding teams with their running game. I think one of the biggest things for the Giants is keeping players healthy so that they can play this good at the end of the season.

i didn't watch this game but if i was a giants fan i wouldn't put too much stock in it. the browns were playing for the season and i think they were probably due for a pretty good offensive game.

i guess i'd worry that the team is downplaying the plaxico issue (but nu-era coughlin should be able to handle this?) but i don't think the sky is falling just yet
