honestly, this kind of shit gets to me. it's fucking rich how everyone thinks tom coughlin is somehow a good coach, when two years ago everyone was calling for his head and he was agreed to be one of the most incompetent coaches in the game. same with doc fucking rivers and the celtics. you don't think maybe, just maybe, it's because the teams have gotten better? like, they have good players?

Well yes and no. From an outsider's viewpoint I always thought Coughlin was a good coach although it's well-known that he changed up his style and became less of an asshole to his players, which is absolutely the right thing to do with a group of talented vets such as the Giants. Rivers turned the complete responsibility of coaching defense over to Thibodeau, which left him to do what he is best at--coaching offense and managing personalities. Obviously both these guys still have their issues but I think they're solid coaches.

Dude in-game coaching is huge in the NFL. As an Eagles fan I'm sure you're familiar with what atrocious clock management looks like. That stuff can be avoided by good coaching.
