congrats to all whose teams made the playoffs - cankles, polyphonic, schef, kevin k. etc
for the rest - spiralli, horseshoe, brownie, daria, etc. - ;_; but there is always next year. adopt a team for the playoffs - i don't suggest the cardinals
i realize this is a corny thread but i was out all day and the 750+ post week 17 thread is a little daunting, but i had u all in my thoughts today as i watched this week go down
on to the playoffs!

My team made the playoffs!
― Mordy, Monday, 29 December 2008 04:45 (sixteen years ago)
SOOOOO HAPPY.
― Mordy, Monday, 29 December 2008 04:46 (sixteen years ago)
oh shit ya - totally sweet game too
i was watching the phins game and everytime there was a stoppage in play i'd switch it to the iggles g ame and they were returning a fumble for a td!
― jordan s (J0rdan S.), Monday, 29 December 2008 04:46 (sixteen years ago)
congrats to u, jordan! i was weirdly rooting for the fins today.
i will adopt the colts as usual because they play like they want to win unlike some motherfuckers named dick jauron aspdvihp'iunvsl

oh yeah, and the falcons of course. i will actually get to see them play!
GUYS I LOVE THE NFL PLAYOFFS SO MUCH!
― horseshoe, Monday, 29 December 2008 05:50 (sixteen years ago)
I like the Colts too actually, despite that 2006 AFC title game.. they just don't quit. Ravens are all right, it is a little hard to root for them because of general DC/Bmore rivalry not limited to sports & friends in Baltimore all like "Redskins SUCK" (they have a point). I have to admit Baltimore is the much cooler city.
― disco is the reason (daria-g), Monday, 29 December 2008 05:54 (sixteen years ago)
I don't think we got one Atlanta game here all damn season, I am excited to see them play too!
thanks jordan!are you a fins fan btw? my stepbrother is a huge fins fan. very good day for my family today actually...eagles, vikes and dolphins all made their way in

yeah i grew up in miami
― jordan s (J0rdan S.), Monday, 29 December 2008 06:54 (sixteen years ago)
I adopted the Cards a few weeks ago, but I'm giving them back. The finish to their season was a huge disappointment. Now I'm pulling for the NFC South (either the birds or the cats...whoever goes further).

manningbowl fyi
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 29 December 2008 08:16 (sixteen years ago)
really really doubt it. giants havent played well at all lately
― "made smashable" (k3vin k.), Monday, 29 December 2008 08:23 (sixteen years ago)
hate to get all around the horn in this bitch but the giants don't turn the ball over at all and have two 1,000 yd rushers - they're a lock for the nfc championship game at worst
― jordan s (J0rdan S.), Monday, 29 December 2008 08:33 (sixteen years ago)
not to mention home field duh
the falcons are a really fuckin solid team but they aren't gonna beat the giants in the meadowlands
― jordan s (J0rdan S.), Monday, 29 December 2008 08:34 (sixteen years ago)
assuming they beat az of course who has less than a zero percent chance of beating the giants
― jordan s (J0rdan S.), Monday, 29 December 2008 08:35 (sixteen years ago)
This Chargers season has been so insane.
― Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 29 December 2008 08:41 (sixteen years ago)
then again they have lost three of four xp
― "made smashable" (k3vin k.), Monday, 29 December 2008 08:44 (sixteen years ago)
i am surprised that someone challenged manningbowl on the giants merits actually! i mean, i like the eagles deep down but...yeah :\
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 29 December 2008 08:49 (sixteen years ago)
tho, tbh, as a giants fan? i wouldn't be surprised if they fucked this up somehow.
barackobamabowl fyi
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Monday, 29 December 2008 08:51 (sixteen years ago)
i mean obv anything can happen in the playoffs but if the cards win they are gonna get slaughtered by the giants, and if the falcons win i think they can keep it close (they are pretty similar to the giants in the plax era: safe, efficient qb, lean on two equally solid but divergent rbs, wr who can stretch the field when need be, solid d-line) but im gonna be conservative and say that the rookie qb/coach tandem won't beat the defending super bowl champs on the road.
i think the scaries team in the nfc is the eagles. they just demolished a good team in a de facto playoff and by virtue of having been to four nfc titles and one super bowl and backing into this year's playoffs, probably have less pressure on them than any of the other teams in the playoffs (except maybe the dolphins and i guess the falcons too) and i could see them beating the giants but getting there is no gimme
― jordan s (J0rdan S.), Monday, 29 December 2008 09:01 (sixteen years ago)
Have you ever watched Iggles ball? They can be amazing until they really *need* to be, and then Donovan and Reid manageto screw things up in spectacular eyerolling fashion every time. Whether that happens in round 1 or 2 or 3 or even theSuperbowl, it will happen.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 29 December 2008 09:05 (sixteen years ago)
ya i know but im sayin they should be scary to opposing nfc teams. i think they will beat the vikings (lol tervaris jackson) but beating the panthers will be a stretch, but then again the panthers have been playing out of their minds lately.
and of course i understand your argument (like 3 weeks ago i was saying that eagles fans should root against their team) but otoh that pair has been pretty successful in the playoffs in the past
― jordan s (J0rdan S.), Monday, 29 December 2008 09:23 (sixteen years ago)
like obv the eagles arent going to win games 44-6 (or whatever) but i dont know how you could watch that game today and not think that the eagles could string together two really strong games and make a run at the super bowl
― jordan s (J0rdan S.), Monday, 29 December 2008 09:24 (sixteen years ago)
Like I said above somewhere, I'm rooting for the NFC South and unless freakish things occur I think Carolina can strollright to the conference championship game. The rest of the NFC seems kind of up in the air. Looks good for both Philly and NYG,but who the hell knows.
The first three quarters of this season were yawnsville and then the end and playoffs turned everything around and I'm more "FOOTBALLFOOTBALL" about it all than I've been in recent memory. I plan on seeing come cool things happen in thenext three weeks.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 29 December 2008 09:37 (sixteen years ago)
the eagles are capable of beating anyone, also capable of losing to anyone
broncos losing in such a humiliating fashion is the perfect ending to this glorious football season~
― cankles, Monday, 29 December 2008 12:24 (sixteen years ago)
welp if the iggles win they play @ nyg & atl/ariz goes to carolina...scrolling thru i feel like this has been missed..
as a giants fan i have to root for minnesota fwiw

WIN AND STAY HOME WITH THAT F'IN DOG: it's week 17!! omg ALMOST DONE??
― ice cr?m, Monday, 29 December 2008 17:38 (sixteen years ago)
i can't believe chilly got my vikes to the playoffs, in typically weird fashion though.
the vikes/eagles playoff game might be the most unpredictable game of all time.
― Rob Liberace (M@tt He1ges0n), Monday, 29 December 2008 17:48 (sixteen years ago)
don't get me wrong, i'm worried about both the giants and the panthers. i've just a pretty good feeling right now, and i don't think it's a stretch to say we can take just about anyone out right now if we're on our game. i don't think the vikes will be a problem tbch; i can't remember the eagles ever blowing a playoff game in which they were heavily favored in the past 9 years (could be wrong).
xp matt i'm worried about peterson a lot. i just think if we take him away and put pressure on jackson (ie 8 guys in the box ALL GAME), we can be successful
― "made smashable" (k3vin k.), Monday, 29 December 2008 17:52 (sixteen years ago)
itd awesom imo if the eagles somehow managed to win the superbowl
― ice cr?m, Monday, 29 December 2008 17:59 (sixteen years ago)
i've been burned by this team too many times to even look that far ahead
― "made smashable" (k3vin k.), Monday, 29 December 2008 18:00 (sixteen years ago)
see thats pretty much the reason itd be so sweet
― ice cr?m, Monday, 29 December 2008 18:03 (sixteen years ago)
i am excited for the Falcons and for the South Florida Porpoises, because those are really great stories. those franchises were really in the shit after last year and it blows my mind that they have been able to win, and have done so with a certain amount of style. Sparano springing the novelty offense on NE was supreme game-planning, and in the end it won the division for them so it is clear he played that card at exactly the right time. i am also excited for the Eagles because wtf. however, i am sad doodz. i wasn't allowed to be sad yesterday b/c it was my wife's b'day but today i have been sad all day. i am just going to keep my head down until the weekend and then i am hoping that the SD rush, such as it is nowadays, gets to Peyton a few times cos seeing him go down always makes me happier.

basically the last year as a patriots fan has taught me to never trust anyone ever

it taught me that if i wish hard enough my dreams do come true
