I dunno about this ATL/AZ game. Can I trust a rookie QB on the road? tossup for me but I might lean AZ if they get some points in the spread.

SD/IND is the momentum bowl but I'll be damned if SD doesn't pull off the upset at home.

Baltimore should demolish Miami.

I'll pick Philly.

could very well be a sweep by the visiting teams this weekend

Mr. Snrub, Tuesday, 30 December 2008 02:24 (sixteen years ago)

I'm thinking snrub otm as usual but the scales have fallen from my eyes and I see things now in a different light which means the Chargers will win. The Ravens win as well which leads into my second eye opener that snrub may not contain the wisdom to guide me through this wildcard weekend.

cankles might have to give me solace under a falcon wing but I can't believe just yet.

schef's rib may also be affecting judgement around these parts so I'm left like Moses in the desert.

the jef (jeff hostetler ha ha) (brownie), Tuesday, 30 December 2008 03:06 (sixteen years ago)

Atlanta's 4-4 record on the road had me fooled into thinking that Matt Ryan could cope okay, but i am glad to be set straight. it would be awesome if mr snrub could share the insightful tactical info he has that exposes Ryan as the terrible road-game liability he is.

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 30 December 2008 03:15 (sixteen years ago)

I wish I was someone else
I'm confused, I'm afraid, I hate the loneliness
And there's nowhere to run to
Nothing makes any sense, but I still try my hardest

Take my hand
Please help me man
'Cause I'm looking for something to believe in
And I don't know where to start
And I don't know where to begin, to begin

If I was stupid or naive
Trying to achieve what they all call contentness
If people weren't such dicks and I never made mistakes
Then I could find forgiveness

Take my hand
Please help me man
'Cause I'm looking for something to believe in
And I don't know where to start
And I don't know where to begin, oh no

I can't be someone else
I don't feel that it's hopeless
I don't feel that I'm useless

I can't throw it all away
I need some courage to find my weakness
And with your love, I know with all my heart I can win

'Cause I'm looking for something to believe in
And I just need something to believe in
I'm looking for something to believe in
And I just need something to believe in

ATL over AZ thx to a few warner fumbles and michael turner pounding it up the middle.

IND over SD though it will be close.

MIA over BAL by a td, i predict BIG THINGS for ricky williams in this one.

PHI over MIN but there will be plenty of fuckups in this game and it will be unwatchable.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Tuesday, 30 December 2008 05:33 (sixteen years ago)

guys, how the fuck are the vikings, the dolphins, the falcons and the cardinals in the goddamned playoffs.

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 30 December 2008 05:42 (sixteen years ago)

I'm gonna cheer for wackiness so I say chargers, dolphins, eagles and falcons for the lulz. I can't bring myself to root for minnesota even though the chance of a postseason rematch with the fbgony could be sweet. super manning bros xliii is just too retarded a concept, it would just be like a four hour oreo advertisement.

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 30 December 2008 05:49 (sixteen years ago)

Falcons over Cardinals - I'll take the rookie QB being able to hand off to Michael the Burner Turner. Even in a cruddy game last week, Ryan made some big throws. C'mon Atlanta is going to ARIZONA...that's like going on a long weekend with the wife, not an incursion into Cambodia.

Indy over SD - I'll be pissed if the Colts come out and do all of the dumb sxxt they have done two of the last three times they faced the Chargers. SD intercepted Manning like six times in one game and it still took AV to bonk the kick to get beat. LT definitely looked to be running better against the Broncos, it looks like he can cut better now. This isn't logic, I just have the team I want to win. I figure Dallas Clark might be a key dude for Indy.

Miami & B-more - I might have to think on this one for a day. I think this is the tightest and hard to figure match-up. Miami is fun to watch and I have to agree with Simms assessment in the last game that Ricky Williams has not lost any speed. I'm sure it will be Ray Ray vs. Porter doing a bunch of jawing the whole game. I'm kind of leaning Miami, just as Pennington has to be a bit of an edge on Flacco. I could see this one as a 13-10 kind of matchup. Special teams and turnovers will probably be pretty crucial in this game, as I would figure both offenses might get bogged down a bit.

Philly over Minnesota - Whose fans are more morose? Even with the Philly fan rep, I got a feeling this is a more tight call than you might figure. I dated a girl whose family was all from Minnesota, those folks are all crazy on hockey and the Vikings. They are a morose bunch to begin with and their football team has only added to the winters of discontent. The Vikings are made to break a fans heart, their QBs are not that dependable, they are a bit banged up and their coach seems real distant. On the other hand, the Eagles are a love hate kind of club. Philly fans like to blow McNabb and Andy Reid a bunch of static, but I think they really like the dude until he pisses them off. They can't hate Andy Reid, the dude looks like one of the fans. Look at Andy Reid in that Cowboy's game, the dude looks like he had polished off a twelver the night before woke up hung over with a three day beard with sausage gravy all down his jacket, then they went out and gave an epic asskicking to the Cowboys. Whatever happens this next week, that Dallas destruction will go down like the Michael Irvin standing ovation when he went of on a stretcher at the Vet in the lore between the two clubs. Philly has won a lot of playoff games, a lot...give them that with Andy Reid, even if they never got the big one. I have to think Philly's Defense will completely confuse Jackson into mistakes. It could give up a big one to Peterson, but I don't see Minnesota having enough offense to put Philly on their back foot and get them into bad play calling. I'm sure Childress will really study that Redskins game from two weeks ago to try and put up a game plan, but I don't think it will be enough.

Criminy...I got three road dogs picked, I must be off, then again the divisions are kind of screwy this year.

earlnash, Tuesday, 30 December 2008 05:55 (sixteen years ago)

also, in another thing-that-football-analysts-will-probably-think-is-important-but-actually-isnt, brad childress was out off. coordinator for a good while, so maybe he "knows the offense"

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 30 December 2008 06:31 (sixteen years ago)

All you people who are picking against my Chargers are breaking my drunk heart.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Tuesday, 30 December 2008 07:20 (sixteen years ago)

Atlanta vs. Arizona - Ryan on the road against what is basically a really shitty defensive secondary. Michael Turner against a poor run defense, I'm thinking the Falcons, especially if they can get any kind of pressure on Warner.

Indianapolis vs. San Diego - I can't figure out San Diego. They looked good against the Broncos, but the Broncos' defense is putrid. If it's close and a minute to go, Indie takes it.

Baltimore vs. Miami - The Ravens look downright scary, so nevermore Miami.

Philadelphia vs. Minnesota - I'm not sold on Tavarvis Jackson either, putting up huge numbers on crap teams doesn't mean you've figured it out, it just means you've played crap teams. I'm thinking Flying Dawkins makes Jackson cry; add a few Peterson fumbles and it could get ridiculous.

i guess i've only watched the pats knock the super chargers out of the playoffs x2, esp 2006 when NE was pretty overmatched and didn't seem to be playing well at all for most of the game. that was martyball though. i forgot about the early rounds 2007, i don't think i watched them unfortunately! this year will be different
