XXXVIII *was* really good. the last two have been amazing. after years of blowouts, things really picked up about mid-90s or so. there have been a lot of amazing games that lived up to the "Super Bowl" title.

First one that came to mind was Rams-Titans, but Packers-Broncos is way up there too. Shit, yeah, I'll go with Packers-Broncos, and I don't even really like the Broncos. but the Elway helicopter was so freaking awesome. Terrell Davis just fucking WEARING OUT that Packer D. 10 point dogs or whatever they were? that was ridiculous.

and I've seen a lot of them, first one I can honestly remember watching is the 2nd Steelers/Cowbows super bowl. I definitely remember the Steelers/Rams one, because I really wanted the Rams to win and I cried when they lost.

I'd say as far as *endings* go, like last play, that Rams-Titans game was freakin' amazing. ONE YARD SHORT?? that was so unbelievable. plus that play coming after the unbelievable McNair scramble. I'll never forget watching that and just thinking it was the most exciting thing I'd ever seen.

yeah, I came pretty close to picking Rams-Titans for that exact reason. i'd love to see McNair make it back again. i did enjoy Denver's killing of GB too, but i can't vote for them after how they raped the Falcons the next year.

carolina and new england was pretty damn good.

Can't argue with the finish of Rams-Titans, but the first half was ridiculously boring. Boring like Seahawks-Skins from a couple of weeks ago. Rams-NE played out similarly (Team A takes big lead, Team B makes 4th quarter comeback) and was more consistently exciting.

Carolina-NE and Denver-GB are tough to top though.

Colts/Jets, obviously. Well, based on the hour-long Facenda version, anyway.

denver-gb for the game and personal reasons though that second cincy-sf is close.

I'd have to go w/ Carolina-NE, tho there's a soft spot in my heart for the Bills-Gints one (as it was my first, and the only time I've willfully rooted for the Giants to win any damn thing).

yeah that was a good one too. i'm kinda amazed you guys repping for ne-carolina so much, i thought it was just a good game, not that much better than last night really. i kinda miss insane fucking blowouts now too.

j blount (papa la bas), Tuesday, 7 February 2006 01:33 (nineteen years ago)

I thought it was pretty close! And there was some moment (in the 3rd quarter?) where the teams trades scores on 3 consecutive possessions or something. & I think there was some return kickoff fun as well.

The Giants-Bills Super Bowl is like my definition of the most horrifying moment in world history.

it might be that i just appreciate 38 more in retrospect, as during the game I merely felt it was Very Good, but overall i still think it waspretty dope.
