I hope they have a bad season so I can start doing so; I'm perpetually afraid of bandwagoning accusations. like the Phils are untouchable for at least a couple of years.

The Ohio State quarterback showed up for his first game of the year with Michael Vick's name written on his eye black. Then he proceeded to play like Marcus Vick, nearly crapping the bed against Navy at home. Brian Rolle saved the day with his intercepted two-point conversion, but unfortunately he couldn't save Pryor from a disastrous postgame interview where he tried to explain his face tribute to Philadelphia's backup quarterback. The quote in question:
"Not everybody's the perfect person in the world. I mean everyone kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me, whatever. I think that people need a second chance, and I've always looked up to Mike Vick, and I always will."

I don't think there's going to be a lot of bags of dog food donated, how often is a back-up QB tackled, when you think about it?

Wide receiver DeSean Jackson confirmed that he was the emergency quarterback if Kolb got hurt, too. Jackson took a few direct snaps in the Wildcat formation today.

CONSPIRACY THEORY: Anyone who saw McNabb take that hit today? Did you notice that he kept grabbing his knees, but walked off the field fine and later we found out it was a rib injury? I think the injury has been blown way out of proportion. I think McNabb definitely needed the break from the game, and he certainly earned it with that amazing blowout, but that he isn't as incapacitated as people are saying. I think they needed a cover for him doing a whole pain thing on the ground, and called it his ribs, but the truth is he's good enough to play and could've even come back into the game. I'm predicting that he plays (almost, if not totally healthy) next weekend.
Mind you, I could just be in the denial stage of grief. I'd hate to see Kolb start against the Saints, we lose (UGH), and then maybe/maybe not pull a win out of the Chiefs (more likely if we started Vick) and not see McNabb back until after the bye week.
― Mordy, Monday, 14 September 2009 08:43 (fifteen years ago)
The Eagles are holding out hope that Donovan McNabb, despite having a fractured rib, will be able to play Sunday against New Orleans, but that seems to be an unlikely scenario.
"He's going to try and battle through that this week," coach Andy Reid said during his day-after-the-game press conference at the NovaCare Complex. "But we will see how things go as the week goes on. It's pretty sore today and I think he'll struggle in practice."
Said McNabb: "It’s just Monday right now, but if Friday and Saturday come along and I’m feeling a lot better, you just never know.”
― Mordy, Monday, 14 September 2009 20:12 (fifteen years ago)
"Whether it's a week or two weeks or the entire season, I'm excited about the opportunity," Garcia said in a conference call. "As far as a team I can go to and blend right in, this is the team for me to do that."
― omar little, Tuesday, 15 September 2009 00:07 (fifteen years ago)
If you had to risk having McNabb getting really hurt bad and being out or riding shotgun for a couple of weeks until the bye, I'd hold tight. The Eagles are pretty loaded. This isn't like earlier in the decade when Donovan WAS the offense. I wouldn't doubt that Kolb could hold pat for a couple of weeks. Andy Reid has had some good success with his backup QBs holding it together. Kolb has been around for a couple of years, he shouldn't be totally green.

If your starter is going down, now is the time to get it done, as they don't even face a division game until Oct. 26.
― earlnash, Tuesday, 15 September 2009 00:14 (fifteen years ago)
Garcia is a good pick-up. I was hoping we'd grab him or Feely. Kolb wasn't going to hold down the Offensive.

― dorroughmac (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 15 September 2009 02:57 (fifteen years ago)
i think you IR'd andrews to make room for garcia. not that baskett is really worth keeping around.
so educate me--can kolb not be trusted for one game at this point?
― call all destroyer, Tuesday, 15 September 2009 18:28 (fifteen years ago)
I dunno, but he would seem to stand a chance against the Saints defense, which doesn't seem very good against the pass.

hey all.
this is my first year ever playing fantasy football. i drafted 6th out of 10 and basically just, i dunno, went with some rankings of players i saw online and downloaded and just winged it...
so if anyone has any reactions to my team or advice or anything that i might want to look out for down the road in terms of players to drop or add or starts and the like i would be really appreciative.
i have no idea what i'm doing, but i won this week thanks to drew brees.

royal had a really good season in '08 but this year things are iffy in denver so i think you might consider benching him in favor of boldin going forward (even though boldin didn't do much this week and he had the weird offseason, the dude is a STAH)
― omar little, Tuesday, 15 September 2009 18:42 (fifteen years ago)
looks decent to me tho if i had to guess mendenhall will be useless (both for fantasy and irl) this year.
marshawn lynch may well be splitting time with fred jackson when he comes back. royal, driver, and boldin are all second receivers essentially on their teams but should all get a decent number of targets. no clue on berrian. stewart is decent for depth and breaston will play a lot if (when) boldin gets hurt.
you may want to get a better backup qb if one is around.
― call all destroyer, Tuesday, 15 September 2009 18:44 (fifteen years ago)
oh yeah i would definitely play boldin going forward
― call all destroyer, Tuesday, 15 September 2009 18:45 (fifteen years ago)
I think you should wait until Boldin has a good game before you put him in your starting lineup, given that he is dealing with a hamstring injury that could hamper him for some time.
I would think about not playing the Eagles D against New Orleans.
Not very high on Cassel. Would think about other options if they exist.
