Batsman (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Tuesday, 15 September 2009 18:45 (fifteen years ago)

Houston in a minor upset.
Philadelphia defense does what Detroit couldn't in Week 1. Stop Brees.
Jacksonville squeaks by Arizona in a game that could really go either way.
Kansas City almost took it to Baltimore in Week 1, will go all the way against Oakland.
Green Bay with home field advantage over a cursed Cincinnati team.
Minnesota, because Detroit is still Detroit even with a hot shit qb.
Washington was a mess at the Meadowlands, but should easily whoop on St. Louis.
New York Jets take advantage of the weakness in the New England defense that Buffalo could not.
Atlanta spots Carolina 14 and still wins big.
Buffalo will either make this no-huddle thing work or they won't, but Tampa will be a good test.
San Francisco surprised in Week 1, and will squeak by again over Seattle.
San Diego plays poor one week, plays awesome the next. Sorry, Baltimore.
Pittsburgh should prevail over Chicago, even w/o Polumalu to pick Cutler 3 times.
Denver, despite many problems, has fewer problems than Cleveland.
New York Giants over Dallas in a game that's really a toss-up. I credit the NYG defense.
Indianapolis will beat Miami, but I don't think Miami will play as poor as they did in Week 1.

based on this past weekend i really like the jets against new england. i hope that vegas gives the jets points because it's new england. that would be real tempting.

aarrissi-a-roni, Tuesday, 15 September 2009 19:15 (fifteen years ago)

did u see the jets game?

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 15 September 2009 19:16 (fifteen years ago)

yeah it was like the bizarro jets. their d was all kinds of busy and effective. the pats were clearly not up to speed on offence and i don't think that will turn around in a week. did you notice how brady didn't even try to air it out once? he loved to pass deep to moss even against double coverage in 07. i know we've only seen them for one game, but i think this jets d will be able to take advantage of that kind of hesitancy and any off-timing. on the other side of the ball, sanchez had the confidence and presence of someone who's already played a few seasons. i thought the bills did a poor job of capitalizing on what the patriots were giving them underneath until they started getting passes to jackson. i think washington could kill the pats if the jets watch that tape.

aarrissi-a-roni, Tuesday, 15 September 2009 19:25 (fifteen years ago)

i think sanchez is gonna be good but i expect a pretty different defensive gameplan this week. vs. the bills everything was geared to shutting down evans and t.o.--don't need to do that w/the jets their best offensive players are their backs imo.

loss of mayo for six weeks is concerning tho.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 15 September 2009 19:28 (fifteen years ago)

hmm that is a good point, new england totally killed the deep option for buffalo and the jets don't have anything like the same threat. without a decent mlb healthy i wonder if teams will try to pound it through the middle against the pats. i don't think the jets have the personnel for that. thomas jones was woeful. he got all of his yards on two carries where the texans fell to pieces, but the rest of the time he barely got a yard and a half.

aarrissi-a-roni, Tuesday, 15 September 2009 19:36 (fifteen years ago)

HOUSTON @ TENNESSEE Tennessee looked really solid on Monday until the fourth quarter and OT; Schaub looks a hot mess already. Titans
NOLA @ PHILADELPHIA Eagles QB situation + Saints starting on a tear makes me think this could be an upset. Saints
ARIZONA @ JACKSONVILLE Cardinals need to get in rhythm, Jacksonville is a good place to do it. Cards
OAKLAND @ KANSAS CITY Oakland almost looked like a football team in game one! Raiders
CINCINATTI @ GREEN BAY Packers
ST. LOUIS @ WASHINGTON this game will be shitty
NEW ENGLAND @ NY JETS Could be a serious definition game for the Jets, even with a loss. It's the "even with" part that makes me think it's a Pats win.
CAROLINA @ ATLANTA Falcons
TAMPA BAY @ BUFFALO Tampa
SEATTLE @ SAN FRANCISCO Seattle, but I bet this game will also be shitty
BALTIMORE @ SAN DIEGO Chargers looked really bored last night; I think Ravens band em up a bit.
PITTSBURGH @ CHICAGO Time to beat up on the underdog; Steelers
CLEVELAND @ DENVER Browns
NY GIANTS @ DALLAS This one feels like the biggest tossup of the week; I think a lot rests on the receiving corps for both teams. Gonna be a homer and GO Giants

first of all, jones's mom could have made big runs against the texans on those two downs. second of all, that's just bs. if you really expect that your running back will only ever get anything at all on 2 carries out of 28 you would never give him the ball. you gotta have some of those 3-4 yarders to chew up the 10.

Leroy "you need two yards? i'll get you three yards; you need four yards? i'll get you three yards" Hoard is a more valuable running back than Barry Sanders, QED.

Thomas Jones isn't anyone's second coming but when they're stacking the box and daring your rookie qb to beat you, blaming the RB for getting stuffed is just o_0

Essentially the internet has allowed sociopaths to hide behind a mask of anonymity and in some cases has caused normal, well-adjusted people turn give in to their own sociopathic tendencies, and this has bled over into the real world. Respect, decorum, and basic decency have fallen away and been replaced with a single, vile mentality in which you don't need to show those aforementioned good qualities, because that would be weak. Having said that, that dipshit should have knelt in the endzone.

aww...

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Still a little upset over having his lawn vandalized, Buffalo Bills cornerback Leodis McKelvin is willing to forgive and forget.

Referring to Bills fans as being great, McKelvin said Wednesday he doesn't want anyone arrested for painting an obscenity and the game's score on the front lawn of his home shortly after a 25-24 season-opening loss at New England on Monday.

"It's just one little incident. I hope it doesn't happen any more," McKelvin said following practice. "I was mad, I was kind of like angry in a way, but I was laughing a little bit for what they put on there."

McKelvin is being partly blamed for the loss after his fumble set up the Patriots' winning drive. He discovered the vandalism shortly after returning home from the game.

i like the dolphins later in the season though. they don't look bad, they just got owned in the last couple minutes by ppl who are geniuses at the last second drive. and, then, uh, didn't have their own to counter it so maybe they should work on that.

lamest 2 minute drill EVAH

My least favorite part, and I'm not sure if it was even mentioned by the crew, was when Ginn needed 10 yards and just strolled out of bounds at the 9-yard mark, so they had to run another play just to get the first down, which of course was short and in-bounds. Just terrible.

I would root for this offense:

QB: Manning
RB1: Jacobs
RB2: Felix Jones
FB: LeJohn McCain
WR1: Desean Jackson
WR2: Mario Manningham (because of the name, honestly)
TE: Chris Cooley
O-Line: Giants
