lol "Comeback", "Drive", "Pass Completion", how quaint the old browns were

brownie, Thursday, 1 October 2009 18:12 (fifteen years ago)

i think all existing video of any browns offensive drive needs to be re-edited so the announcer expresses shock and disbelief when the browns DON'T run a qb sneak on first down

rather shipped (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 1 October 2009 18:16 (fifteen years ago)

"Lewis with a sweep to the rightside on first down"
"It looks like Mangini tried to catch the Ravens in their QB sneak defense, Gus"

brownie, Thursday, 1 October 2009 18:26 (fifteen years ago)

It is so strange watching these old football games and not having graphics and tickers and shit. You don't even know what the score is of that Browns game until two-and-a-half minutes in!

Mr. Snrub, Thursday, 1 October 2009 19:59 (fifteen years ago)

we had to walk for miles in the snow just to find a 19" television. uphill both ways, holding a hot potato to stay warm.

all yoga attacks are fire based (rogermexico.), Thursday, 1 October 2009 20:38 (fifteen years ago)

and he's not even telling you WHERE he held the potato.

In honor of the Lions' win last weekend, how bout a little Night Train Lane?

( unfortunate pause in the narration at the end "...now hangs himself...(!)...in the hall of fame" )

I couldn't find any straight clips, just this NFL Network thing. Some good clips in here though.
Love me some Deacon Jones. Quarterback killah.

I don't love the Cowboys, but I love watching clips of Bullet Bob Hayes.

It will be a good day when all of this digital stuff actually allows you to turn all of that ticker shit off. Probably won't happen...

I seem remember when I was kid back in the early 80s they did some weird broadcast experimental game where they had no broadcasters. I swear it was like a late season Jets/Dolphins game, they would show the score and stuff, but no play by play.

earlnash, Friday, 2 October 2009 03:17 (fifteen years ago)

man love that bill offense

autogoon delight (J0rdan S.), Friday, 2 October 2009 03:28 (fifteen years ago)

earlnash, you're right about the no broadcast game. According to Wikipedia:
"On December 20, 1980 NBC made history by broadcasting a game between the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins with no announcers."

Man that sounds like a dream come true with boneheads like Mike & Mike doing Monday night games now.
