tbh last time i went to a game in miami i thought it wasn't really worth the hassle

burrhurt (J0rdan S.), Monday, 19 October 2009 21:49 (sixteen years ago)

i guess i fit in choice #2, maybe it's just the general knowledge and interest of fans in miami (very low) but idk is going to the game that much more fun when you have to deal with drunk, homophobic, sexist guys who don't know shit about football really? i feel like a grandpa or something but idk, i really have such a distaste for the misplaced testosterone that you find at nfl games. maybe i just need to have richer parents so we can sit with nice rich dainty people. but yeah, watching nfl on team is pretty cool imo. eat a sandwich, watch some replays. do laundry at halftime. idk.

burrhurt (J0rdan S.), Monday, 19 October 2009 21:51 (sixteen years ago)

never have, don't really desire to, would rather be at a baseball game.

maybe the superbowl some day for novelty? other than that...eh.

iatee, Monday, 19 October 2009 21:52 (sixteen years ago)

the best is with a small group at home or in a local, non-douchey bar

access flap (omar little), Monday, 19 October 2009 21:53 (sixteen years ago)

^^this is very true

burrhurt (J0rdan S.), Monday, 19 October 2009 21:55 (sixteen years ago)

The last two times I saw a game in person I felt like it was a huge ripoff.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 19 October 2009 21:57 (sixteen years ago)

honestly the two sports that are great to see in person are hockey and baseball. football and basketball are just not any fun imo.

access flap (omar little), Monday, 19 October 2009 21:59 (sixteen years ago)

and basketball is still much much better than football.

access flap (omar little), Monday, 19 October 2009 22:00 (sixteen years ago)

i voted #2 even though the reality is kind of, it's enjoyable enough, but a massive rip-off so i don't bother.

going to college football games is way more fun ime

max otm

burrhurt (J0rdan S.), Monday, 19 October 2009 22:06 (sixteen years ago)

i mean ive never been to a huge college game so maybe it sucks but my experiences at schools w/ mid-sized (princeton) and tiny (occidental) programs are v. positive

Bobby Wo (max), Monday, 19 October 2009 22:06 (sixteen years ago)

with hockey there's def the greatest discrepancy b/w how enjoyable it is to watch in person and how enjoyable it is to watch at home

burrhurt (J0rdan S.), Monday, 19 October 2009 22:07 (sixteen years ago)

yeah I would probably rather go to some random college football game I didn't care about than a nfl game I did.

iatee, Monday, 19 October 2009 22:07 (sixteen years ago)

I would like to go to a college game, but i find most other cal fans annoying, and fuck if i'm going to go watch stanford or sjsu.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 19 October 2009 22:12 (sixteen years ago)

haha we are pretty annoying, it's true. also there is the risk of dying with tens of thousands of people w/ a well-timed earthquake in that stadium.

actually it'd be cool to see a game at lambeau one day (I can't imagine the ridiculous circumstances that would make that happen)...but other than that I don't feel like any nfl stadium has the allure that certain (fewer and fewer) baseball and cfb stadiums have.

iatee, Monday, 19 October 2009 22:15 (sixteen years ago)

basically the best conditions for me personally in which to see a football game are the ones that we saw at foxboro yesterday, i love that kind of shit.

access flap (omar little), Monday, 19 October 2009 22:31 (sixteen years ago)

ok, I haven't been to a game in many many years and this dates, but I saw the Raiders in '83 (twice), Marcus Allen & Lyle Alzado basically ruining the day for any opponent that came near 'em, and no TV game could possibly match the excitement of watching that team, that year, and being a local.

a full circle lol (J0hn D.), Monday, 19 October 2009 22:43 (sixteen years ago)

but a lot's happened since then in sports and going to a game is probably a much more annoying experience than it was then

iatee, Monday, 19 October 2009 22:46 (sixteen years ago)

Watching the Cowboys in the new Jerryworld Thunderdome would be my idea of hell.

leavethecapital, Monday, 19 October 2009 23:51 (sixteen years ago)

I think it would be fun on drugs or something

iatee, Monday, 19 October 2009 23:52 (sixteen years ago)

i get the sense the feeling i would have being there is the same feeling as i have being at a remote, giant, obnoxious truckstop somewhere between albuquerque and amarillo.

I saw the first half of a Jets game at Shea (left at halftime -- cold), and a Giants game in Meadowlands around '80 maybe (we left w/ 2 mins left and the visitors scored the winning TD after). And that was it.

Your Favorite Saturday Night Thing (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 20 October 2009 00:05 (sixteen years ago)

'80! Jets @ Shea!!

maybe i just need to have richer parents so we can sit with nice rich dainty people.

^^ this. fedex field in the cheap seats -> me yelling at & very very tempted to start a fight with drunk college fratboys who kept bumping into/spilling beer on us. fedex field in the $$$ seats by the field -> not bad. nobody was dainty, but not drunk and obnoxious either. of course, the other difference was night game vs 1pm game, in the former people have alot more time to get good and wasted before they even set foot in the stadium.

so my live NFL experience is, it was pretty fun when friends were hooked up with really great seats & parking passes for free. would i have paid $150 for that? hells no! not with this team.

i just want to say the one and only time i did this, i collapsed from an then-unknown kidney infection that caused me to skyrocket to an enormous fever. when i was carried out of the section, the (shirtless! ON CHRISTMAS EVE. it was 30 degrees out) redskins fans chanted that i was a pussy.

everyone kills people (the schef (adam schefter ha ha)), Tuesday, 20 October 2009 01:53 (sixteen years ago)

i ended up in the hospital, due to being a huge pussy! giants lost that game, btw.

everyone kills people (the schef (adam schefter ha ha)), Tuesday, 20 October 2009 01:54 (sixteen years ago)

but the redskins now have jim zorn and the giants won the super bowl the next year, so i feel like i was ultimately vindicated.

your kidney was vindicated
