I'm personally conflicted on this...I usually think you should try to get the ball first and draw first blood...buuuut...i have to admit there's NOTHING better than the feeling when you are up at halftime and then you realize that you actually get the ball back to start the 2nd half....

on madden, if i am playing a team i think i might struggle against i let them have the ball because if i am down at halftime and they get ball to start, that is a morale-sapping way to start the 2nd half. if i like my chances i will take the ball and take the game to them.

i guess i meant this to be IRL, there are so many things in madden that would str8 get you fired as a real coach but make sense in terms of the game

i think my rationale can be extended to IRL situations as well, but i have to confess i have not been in the position to call a coin toss IRL so i went with what i knew.

mcdaniels kicking to colts was a 2 day furore in denver. "never get behind manning," etc. i really think it wasn't so crazy. you do the thing that gives whichever unit the greatest chance of success. i dont think its unreasonable for himn to have believed that the defense had a better chance to stop manning than the offense had of scoring in the dome on the first possession with the crowd pumped up etc. furthermore, if d got a stop, that might actually take crowd out of the game a bit.

getting a touchdown at the end of the second quarter and then getting another touchdown at the start of the third is such a huge swing in momentum. i don't get it. why do teams receive??
