lazy cold meat and chocolate seasonal mentality (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 30 December 2009 23:40 (fifteen years ago)

Indy at Bills- I think after last weeks debacle the Colts will somehow win this one. No matter what they do from here out, laying down against the Jets in such an obvious way is going to haunt. If they get bounced out of the playoffs it will be doubly bad. If say they beat Buffalo and win it all, the story will still be how they threw away that game. Screwy.
Jville at Clev- I want to take the Browns, but I think the Jags will win this one. Jags looked like they were playoff bound a month ago.
NO at Carolina- I'm going to take the Panthers, who knows how this one will play out.
Bears at Detroit- I figure the Bears should win this one, whether they will or not is to be seen.
NE at Houston- NE isn't going to take the week off, they will win, but the Texans will give them a game.
Steelers at Dolphins- I'll take the Steelers. Miami has been off a bit in the last couple of weeks and the NFL really would like the Steelers to be in the playoffs.
Giants at Minn- The Giants have pretty much given up, but I have a feeling Favre and Petersen won't be playing much. I'll take the Giants in an upset.
Niners at Rams- Niners will win and finish at .500.
ATL at Bucs- Falcons haven't been much on the road, but I think they will get this one.
Philly at Dallas- I'm going with Philly and asking for the most hilarious way to beat the Cowboys.
GB at Arizona- How does this work out? Can these teams again play the next week? Possibly. I'm going to take the Cardinals, not for any good reason as Green Bay's defense has gotten some injuries.
KC at Denver- Broncos should win, but they are 2-7 since their hot start. KC doesn't appear to be particularly good at anything.
Bmore at Oakland- I wonder what the over/under is on penalty yardage? We could have a new record this weekend in this game. B-more is only 2-5 on the road, so I have some doubts on them but the Raiders have Solei Moon Frye at QB. I'm taking the Ravens but I don't feel strong on it.
Wash at SD- I figure even though the playoffs are coming up Norv would like to stick it to Snyder, so he will play Rivers all game and they will win stating we wanted to stay fresh.
Titans at Seattle- I'll take the titans even though they are really banged up. Seattle has been getting clobbered of late.
Cinci at Jets- Probably a decent game. I'd figure the Jets, but I've got a feeling the Bengals will play it out for real.

America's Next Most Disabled Ballerina (WmC), Thursday, 31 December 2009 17:08 (fifteen years ago)

Titans getting to .500 and Chris Johnson getting the APY record is a serious moral victory considering the way their season started.

"I don't think it's gutsy," McDaniels said. "I don't know about Eddie's status yet. But like I said what's important is we're fielding the team we think gives us the best opportunity to win. And the guys that are going to play hard and do what we asked them to do and fight through adversity and be committed to one another, that's the group."

on the bright side, at least the team already sucks. now it will be sucky without actual talent.

Looks like Brees is sitting tomorrow -- Brunell is a pretty strong reason to change my pick to the Panthers...

America's Next Most Disabled Ballerina (WmC), Saturday, 2 January 2010 15:33 (fifteen years ago)

tbh i'd probably pick the panthers even if brees was playing. carolina has one of the league's toughest pass defenses, and any team that can run the ball well is almost guaranteed to give the saints fits.

Speaking as a Chargers fan, I totally agree. Andre Johnson > Vincent Jackson.

But I would rather have Jackson on my team (or Randy Moss, or Reggie Wayne, or...) than Wes Welker! Welker feasts on the space Moss creates. Andre Johnson is more than capable of doing the over the middle short passing game stuff that Welker handles. Not that I don't like Welker, of course.

Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles quietly passed on a chance for a huge NFL record Sunday. After piling up 259 rushing yards, a Chiefs franchise record, Charles could have threatened Adrian Peterson's NFL record of 296.

Instead, he asked his coach Todd Haley to take him out and put backup rookie Javarris Williams.

"I didn't want to do it like that," said Charles, of trying to set the record late in a blowout win. "I'll get it some other time."
