iatee, Monday, 11 January 2010 19:15 (fifteen years ago)

i'm kinda feeling the cards next week too, but i think that's based entirely on kurt warner looking unstoppable against green bay. whether or not the D can stop drew brees and co. enough to allow them to come out on top is another story.

colts will take baltimore pretty easily, i think.

i don't know who to root for in the battle of the hat and the waffle. i think minnesota will win.

jets don't have much of a chance unless SD totally self-destructs, which is highly unlikely.

A™ machine (sic) (omar little), Monday, 11 January 2010 19:17 (fifteen years ago)

saints (homer), vikes, chargers...

the indy game feels more like a coin toss to me than it probably is. I'll say colts, but wouldn't be a bit surprised to wind up being a bit surprised.

2-2 wild card

i wish the packers would've made it through, i kinda dislike all of these teams. i guess i couldn't begrudge new orleans winning something finally.

pretty sure about new orleans, indy and dallas winning their games. san diego should win but i am haunted by this terrifying and disturbing vision of green and white in the superbowl :(

aarrissi-a-roni, Monday, 11 January 2010 19:23 (fifteen years ago)

Colts
Cowboys
Chargers

Cards/Saints is the toss-up game for me a) because I'd be fine with either team winning and b) both defenses seem weakened at this point and it's essentially a battle of offenses.

2-2 in wild card picks.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 11 January 2010 19:24 (fifteen years ago)

Revis v. Jackson is going to be very interesting considering Jackson's height and jumping ability. I'm expecting a big game from Gates and Floyd, and maybe Sproles.

I kind of like all the players on Dallas (esp. Damarcus ware, who is a destroyer) except their retarded QB, who is the Bush II administration's lasting legacy -- every tom nitwit and dullard thought they had a chance to do something great in this world besides suck up oxygen. I'm even OK w/ Jerry jones because I feel sorry for him having a tiny dick.

wow, the Cardinals all of a sudden are a hot pick (not undeservedly).

i'm kinda feeling the cards next week too, but i think that's based entirely on kurt warner looking unstoppable against green bay. whether or not the D can stop drew brees and co. enough to allow them to come out on top is another story.

Some ESPN analysts made the point that the Packers coverage against the Cardinals was soft. That, combined with the fact that Warner is a master at playing against the rush, made him look unstoppable. OTOH, that all admits that Warner is very -- very -- good, even at this stage of his career, so maybe the Cards after all.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 11 January 2010 22:22 (fifteen years ago)

I just think the Saints haven't looked good in a long time. But the Cards are also a team that can look very good one week and not so good the next week, so who knows.

I don't know much about betting options, betting lines, and so forth, but I've got to think the best bet on this game is that the two teams will exceed the "over," whatever it is.

richie aprile (rockapads), Friday, 15 January 2010 00:30 (fifteen years ago)

i bitched about this already, but since bill simmons wrote today that you can beat the chargers by erasing vincent jackson, i would like to say that vincent jackson is the most overrated player in the nfl.

J0rdan S., Friday, 15 January 2010 20:37 (fifteen years ago)

some recent games in which vincent jackson has been "erased"

Nov 15 PHI (1 reception, 10 yds) W 31-23
Nov 22 @ DEN (4 receptions, 56 yds) W 32-3
Nov 29 KAN (2 receptions, 27 yds) W 43-14
Dec 6 @ CLE (2 receptions, 54 yds) W 30-23

A™ machine (sic) (omar little), Friday, 15 January 2010 20:43 (fifteen years ago)

as a v. jackson fantasy owner i can personally attest that there a lot of dudes on the chargers who can catch stuff and score.

call all destroyer, Friday, 15 January 2010 20:44 (fifteen years ago)

Nov 29 KAN (2 receptions, 27 yds) W 43-14
Dec 6 @ CLE (2 receptions, 54 yds) W 30-23

yeah i was thinking of these games in particular. it's funny-- maybe not funny, but you know-- how owning a player in fantasy can hone your opinions on that player to an incredibly fine point. i feel like the world's #1 scholar on vincent jackson. anyway i hope the jets and the cowboys lose.

J0rdan S., Friday, 15 January 2010 20:46 (fifteen years ago)

i dunno man i always rooted for the rebellion but if you replaced obi wan with darth vader the star wars movies would feel a little different u know?

max, Tuesday, 19 January 2010 17:40 (fifteen years ago)

yeah i understand.

i don't even know what to think.

we are playing well. that's all i really focus on now, just having fun watching them win.

plus i think we have a lot of cool, genuine bros on the team like shiancoe, pat williams, peterson, chad greenway, ben leber, sidney rice, etc. that are super likeable IMO. (though i am biased)

jared allen even is sort of the redneck ochocinco basically, ridiculous but pretty funny overall

Na'vi Girls (Need Love Too) (M@tt He1ges0n), Tuesday, 19 January 2010 17:42 (fifteen years ago)

jared allen is a dude i love to hate

brett favre is a dude i hate

max, Tuesday, 19 January 2010 17:44 (fifteen years ago)

yeah it's cool. the vikings are weird anyway, it's not like i expect ppl not from MN to care about us, or want to join our little weird world of neurosis and failure and shit...we're not like the cowboys or packers where you're "supposed" to like respect us as an "institution" or some shit.

i was born into this, i don't know if i'd tell someone to choose being a vikings fan.

if they leave cuz of the stadium i will probably disavow football totally.

Na'vi Girls (Need Love Too) (M@tt He1ges0n), Tuesday, 19 January 2010 17:52 (fifteen years ago)

i think a lot of ppl probably like minnesota teams in the abstract and i assume most are fond of the late-90s vikes...i mean if they were to win i could separate my feelings about favre from those about the rest of the team and the fans.

Na'vi Girls (Need Love Too) (M@tt He1ges0n), Tuesday, 19 January 2010 18:21 (fifteen years ago)

I am a Packer fan, so the Vikings were always the enemy, but since I grew up in Southern California and adopted the Packers essentially on a whim when I was like 13, they were never really my least favorite team until this year. Raiders fans were way more abundant, and enough of them (though not all of them) are violent assholes that the Vikings were always just #2. But this year, the Raiders are kind of pitiful, plus I live on the other side of the country now, away from the Commitment to Excellence, and plus Favre. But yeah, I've never wanted an athlete to fail more in my life. The fact that it hasn't happened is pretty horrible, tbh.

C-L, Tuesday, 19 January 2010 19:35 (fifteen years ago)
