Reggie Bush

I live in the UK - I'd obviously heard a lot about him online, but I'd been resigned to not getting to see what the hype was about until I had the idea of searching for clips on youtube. Then I went wtf for a solid hour. Wtf.

I mean - is it remotely possible to do that sort of thing in the NFL? I sort of assume it can't be, I'm not really clear on how big the quality gap is. Is it normal for there to be a few drafted players who look that impressive every year, or it unusual and my noticing just a result of being a newish NFL fan? Will he do an Eli Manning if the Titans draft him?

Talk about Reggie Bush!

No doubt the guy is amazing. I saw him light it up against Washington his freshman year. He caught like two TDs and I think a running touch too. Never seen anyone like him before. He's just a truly amazing talent. I hope he's successful in the NFL.

No, it's probably not possible to do that in the NFL (usually you have to be able to run inside), but Bush is still going to have a good career anyway as a kick/punt returner, receiving back, utility WR. Bush was very impressive in college, but defenses are way to fast to let even someone as talented as him get to the corner. Even the worst defense in the NFL is significantly better than Texas'.

Either way Bush isn't the best player to come out this year (Vince Young is and people making too much of this stupid IQ test are weirdos) and he might not even be the best running back to come out of USC this year (White is a monster.) But he'll go #1 anyway.

he's the rickey watters to white's bettis, and he could conceivably have a similar career to rw

he's a much better person than rickey watters.

I personally think D'Angelo Williams is the best back in the draft.

Even though Vince Young and Reggie Bush are by far the most exciting players coming into the draft by their college resume, I think there are definite questions with both in the NFL.

I think you would get more from Bush his first three years in the NFL than Young. Bush is easy, get him the ball in the open field and pray he doesn't get his legs blown out. They have Bush listed at 6-0 and 200 pounds, but he doesn't really look that big. He's really fast, but NFL is a much faster league than NCAA.

Vince Young was as exciting a player I have seen in that game against USC, but I also remember watching Kordell Stewart at Colorado against Notre Dame and being completely blown away by his abilities. Young is a notch above Stewart as a passer in college, but I think he will have to come into a perfect situation with the right coach to make it work in the NFL. If Young gets on a club with little coaching direction and with completely inadequate line play, he could end up getting labeled a bust early. And many times a player just doesn't make it back from that early failure.

I can understand why the Texans may be getting skittish and wanting to trade down. It is often a crap shoot with the draft anyway.

totally biased but it seems like matt forte is doing what reggie bush was expected to do w/o the dazzling highlight reel shit

The dude I think that is doing what was expected of Reggie Bush is Adrian Petersen. If ads were about your skills, Petersen should be racing the pepsi machine and hanging with Jarrod at Subway.

Not a slight on Matt Forte, he is a solid back, but he isn't a video game highlight kind of player. Forte is basically playing right now Neal Anderson before the injuries piled up, in that he is probably equally good in the running game as the passing game.

Petersen is freakishly good like Walter Payton, Barry Sanders and Eric Dickerson. The thing reminds me a bit like Dickerson in that he seems to be able to accelerate at a crazy rate.

Reggie Bush has not been a complete bust, but the guy is basically a very good 3rd down back/flanker type player who is a pretty good punt returner, when healthy.

I guess that Wonderlic test for Vince Young might have been pretty telling.

too bad there's not a crazylic test
