The second largest crowd in UFL history watch the Daunte Culpepper-led Sacramento Mountain Lions take down the Florida Tuskers 24-20 yesterday. Culpepper threw a game-winning 33 yard touchdown pass with 31 seconds remaining.

Culpepper went 26-42 for 374 yards and three touchdowns. "Daunte was a warrior right to the end and the guys really stayed together," Sacramento coach Dennis Green said. "Despite our discouragement from last week there was never any doubt that the guys would stay together and put forth that kind of game."

DID YOU KNOW: Daunte Culpepper is 8 years younger than Brett Favre.

DID YOU KNOW: At age 39 (more than a year younger that Brett Favre!), legendary hall of famer George Blanda switched from quarterback to kicker and proceeded to play for nine more years?
Do you think this would be a good career move for Brett Favre?

If it is possible for a kicker to kick an interception, Favre will find a way.

Okay well maybe my friend was lying to me about how bad Culpepper looked...that clip upthread sounds like he was on fire! Maybe you can be old and creaky and on fire at the same time.

VegemiteGrrrl, Monday, 27 September 2010 18:43 (fifteen years ago)

Clearly the Sacramento Mountain Lions are the Bay area's best pro football team.

Lol. The bar isn't even low, it's non-existent.

Have we figured out yet why UFL is a Fall league? Seems like there would be more appetite for it in the Spring and early Summer when there's no football elsewhere.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 16 October 2010 03:40 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah I dunno, idg either

"Before the game," longtime quarterback Jeff Garcia said, "I have to continuously pee. The fluids go through you at such a fast rate."

Garcia said, "I've been on the field and had to go underneath the stands or figure out a way to take a leak. For a fact, it became a problem because it was affecting the way I threw the ball. I've always said there needs to be a Porta Potty for guys on the sidelines who can't leave the field."

Said Garcia, "My first year in the league, I tried the towel thing. It was in a preseason game. Second half. I figured, ‘Well, I'll try it with a towel. Just pee into the towel.' I had to go pretty bad. As soon as I felt the warm pee touch my leg, I shut it down. I said, ‘I can't do this.' It's just nasty. I couldn't follow through with it. Players try all sorts of tricks to relieve themselves out there. My teammate in Tampa would just pee his pants and say it's not going to make a difference because of all the sweat."
