Ultimately I have to vote Dallas because lol Romo, but I would like to crush the Vikings with a hammer right now

America's Team

the hilarious incompetence runs deep on both teams, this is actually a vv tough question to answer.

omar little, Monday, 1 November 2010 19:22 (fourteen years ago)

hahaha, I voted before I read about Moss getting cut. Do over!

QB is the most important position in football and the vikings don't have a QB for the foreseeable future

Jackson didn't look that bad imo

Tavaris isn't a permanent solution, but he's definitely not the worst qb in the league.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 1 November 2010 20:07 (fourteen years ago)

No, but John Kitna may be.

Kitna's mistake was throwing at his receivers' hands.

After watching the Walking Dead (not much different than the Cowboys/Packers game har har)...I flipped over to sportscenter and the true person that needs to be fired for the Cowboys troubles was taking questions.

Pretty much Jerry Jones is the football Steinbrenner. Dude ran that club that Jimmy Johnson into the dirt, got Parcells to fix up the springs and pretty much that foundation that was built up is starting to rot.

Cowboys are not going anywere until Jerry Jones hires a real GM, gets the heck out of the personel business and just goes on and keeps being a snakeoil salesman for the Cowboys, which by all acounts he is pretty good at.

People like to laugh at old Al Davis, as it is a similar situation with similar failures and weirdness, but you have to give propts that Al was a real deal for a good long time until the lawsuits and the jumpsuits took over. Either way, his club is winning now and Jones is not a GM.

Best possible thing for the Raiders right now, as they've accidentally put together something really good, is for Al to step down and bring in a smart GM to keep it going. It'll never happen, tho.

As for Dallas, I honestly don't care. If they have losing seasons for the next 40 years, I'll be happy.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 8 November 2010 05:18 (fourteen years ago)

the raiders' last draft was curious; it seemed that Al let the scouts pick the first 3 rounds and then the rest of the draft he was allowed to go hog wild and draft whomever had the best height/weight/speed ratio.

This may be a winning formula!

Jerry also signed two of the greatest undrafted free agents ever in Romo and Austin, got a steal in Dez Bryant etc.

Parcells on the other hand pushed to trade for Bledsoe, who was a complete failure.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 8 November 2010 09:30 (fourteen years ago)

vikings obviously way more fucked by the way. The O-Line is falling apart fast (and is the most talented part of the team), Favre is done, Percy Harvin has myriad health problems. Jerry Jones will probably be forced to hire a real head coach now (presumably Cowher or Gruden) and if they wind up with Patrick Peterson in the draft, who the hell knows how good they'll be?

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 8 November 2010 09:34 (fourteen years ago)

I wouldn't put it past Jones to try and lure someone like Gene Chizik or Bo Pelini out of a college program.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 8 November 2010 09:42 (fourteen years ago)

Romo and Austin both were signed when Parcells was still in Dallas and Bill was the one that made Romo the starter replacing Bledsoe, if you remember right.

Drew Bledsoe was decent his first year in Dallas, biggest reason he got benched was that he was totally immobile and was getting sacked left and right. Dallas had to get a QB as the year before Bledsoe, it was Vinny Testeverde at age 41 was the starter replacing the great Quincy Carter. It worked out OK, Bledsoe was good enough till Romo was ready in his 2nd season.
