Well, it doesn't have to be Buffalo. Just that the purpose of the T-DAY game is to give a little team a big stage, which Dallas clearly doesn't need anymore (and hasn't for decades).

I am probably too prone to just being like "OK that tradition exists, whatever", but I have been operating under the assumption that Thanksgiving always includes the Lions and the Cowboys because that has always (since I began watching NFL = always) been the case. It is like how New Hampshire and Iowa get to participate in the primaries/caucuses first because NH and Iowa participate first.

The third game I interpret as NFL Network's way of throwing a bone to people who need extra cover from awkward family gatherings and for that I appreciate them. Although I use the 3rd NFL game on Thanksgiving less than I use the 4th and 5th NBA games on Christmas.

Yeah, the past couple years that has been like a random Trail Blazers game on at the very end of the night and I have watched it half-heartedly while wondering why everyone got all passive-aggressive again, it's been pretty clutch.

New England at Detroit- It would be cool if the Lions would not off these plotzes, but it won't happen so gimme NE.
New Orleans at Dallas- Saints can play down to their competition, so I almost want to take Dallas, but I'll go safe and take New Orleans.
Cincinnati at New York Jets- Again, it would be nice for the Bengals to get their sXXX together and have a decent game, but you have to take the Jets on results. Mike Brown is rolling up nickels in his office to get ready for a bonus payment for the new Bengals head coach, which he will probably get out of the CFL.

Green Bay at Atlanta- Wow this is kind of a tough one and a decently big game for both teams. I'll take the Falcons at home, as they generally play a bit better there, but would easily believe the Pack getting a win.
Pittsburgh at Buffalo- Steelers should win, but I wouldn't mind Buffalo knocking them off.
Carolina at Cleveland- Browns should win even having to go by Jake the Mistake by the Lake at QB, but they let a couple slip through their fingers in the past couple of weeks. It will be interesting to see how Cleveland does from here out, as they have a few easier opponants for the next three weeks that the club which beat NE and the Saints should be able to handle. In that, I almost say for Mangini and the development for next season (if there is one), it is an important stretch.
Jacksonville at New York Giants- Giants are really banged up and J-ville has been finding ways to win. I'll take NY but don't feel solid at all.
Minnesota at Washington- What a matchup...do you think Favre and Donovan will meet at midfield and ask each other how their season has gone? Criminy I have no idea who will win...give me the Vikings in an upset (sic).
Tennessee at Houston- Both of the clubs looked pretty kick ass after week 4 or 5 and like turds now. Houston's defense is terrible, but they should win going against a third string backup named Rusty.
Miami at Oakland- Oaktown's offense looked horrible against the Steelers. This shoudl be a fugly one. I'll take the Raiders at home I guess.
Kansas City at Seattle- KC needs to win this one and I'll pick them to do so, but Seattle is a trap town and has been one for a long time.
Philadelphia at Chicago- I want to take the Bears, but common sense says go with the Eagles. St. Louis at Denver- Rams seem improved, but taking them on a road is a dicey proposition still/ The Broncos defense kind of blows and this club plays kind of stupid. I can't do it, give me Denver at home. I still think that McDaniels won't work as a head coach (at least not in Denver).
Tampa Bay at Baltimore- I'm taking the Ravens but if the Bucs knock them off, I'll be impressed.
San Diego at Indianapolis- Chargers to win, they are rushing the passer well and have given Indy fits more than a couple of times.

San Francisco at Arizona - I like football, but you would have to pony up some cash and some beers to make me watch this one. Who knows...49ers why not.

Just saw Steve Johnson interviewed by J.A. Adande on Rome Is Burning and I've decided I love that dude. Poor Bills, for real. Fitzpatrick and Johnson are probably my favorite qb/receiver combo right now. I hope they only tweak the formula in the right ways during the off season instead of completely revamping it. The worst record for a playoff team that played a full, 16 game regular season is 8-8. No losing team has ever played in the post season. There have been nine 8-8 playoff teams as of the end of 2008.

Using the league alignment and scheduling instituted in 2002 by the NFL, it is possible for all four teams in a division to be 3-13 and the winner has to be one of them. Then each team in the division splits with each other divisional opponent for 3 more losses.
I don't know what the conference wildcard situation calculates as, but on a divisional level, a 3-13 winner is possible.

5-11 is the worst possible wild card record, though it is even more far-fetched than the 3-13 scenario. Other than the 4 Division winners, the other 12 teams would all split intra-conference games (3-3) [though some would go 2-4 as well; they would not be able to win the wildcard], and divisional games, except against divisional champ (2-4), and then lose all inter-conference games (0-4).
