you know what's something that's always actively bothered me forever? when analysts say that a quarterback looked a defender off with his eyes, or that a cb read the cbs eyes, because what they're really talking about which way the QBs head is facing

bears should beat lions but don't forget they only beat the lions in week one because of a terrible call that overturned a late lions TD

If you had told me at the beginning of the season that I would be scratching my chin over whether to start the St. Louis or Seattle defense in Week 13, I would've handed over to you the bullets.

btw i'm w/derek anderson, who gives a shit if the dude was smiling. the reporter was a dbag imo.

omar little, Tuesday, 30 November 2010 18:05 (fourteen years ago)

^yes this. really hate when reporters/fans play the "how can u smile/laugh when the team loses" card

johnny crunch, Tuesday, 30 November 2010 18:08 (fourteen years ago)

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ cosign. this is just lazy and opportunistic by the "reporter."

Daniel, Esq., Tuesday, 30 November 2010 18:09 (fourteen years ago)

kent somers is the reporter's name apparently. just another hack trying to be a hero to sports radio callers citywide.

omar little, Tuesday, 30 November 2010 18:12 (fourteen years ago)

From what I have read, Kent Somers is respected.

macaroni rascal (polyphonic), Tuesday, 30 November 2010 18:15 (fourteen years ago)

it may have been a momentary lapse in judgment, but it was a lapse.

Daniel, Esq., Tuesday, 30 November 2010 18:18 (fourteen years ago)

"well-respected", according to google

omar little, Tuesday, 30 November 2010 18:18 (fourteen years ago)

people cry at weddings and laugh at funerals, y'know?

omar little, Tuesday, 30 November 2010 18:19 (fourteen years ago)

well i thought what happened is he answered the question politely, took and answered a different question, and then got pissed that the reporter came back to it. don't blame him at all.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 30 November 2010 18:21 (fourteen years ago)

Ugh. Jim Rome just came on tv and essentially called Derek Anderson a pussy for dodging the question. FUCK YOU, JIM ROME.

Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Tuesday, 30 November 2010 21:39 (fourteen years ago)

"have you...do you even know how much i am being paid to do this? how can anyone keep a straight face."

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 30 November 2010 21:41 (fourteen years ago)

"i was thinking back to that pro bowl selection. HOOO BOY"

Roberto Spiralli, Tuesday, 30 November 2010 21:42 (fourteen years ago)

Jim Everett was a better QB than Derek Anderson.

macaroni rascal (polyphonic), Tuesday, 30 November 2010 22:16 (fourteen years ago)

I dunno, I think if my team stunk and my QB was yukking it up on the sidelines on MNF I'd like to see him called into account. I mean, I'm not a pitchfork & torches kind of person "RARR OUR QB WAS LAUGHING WTF" but I don't have a problem with the reporter's line of questioning. I mean, esp given the way the team played, and the fact that he was on camera. Anderson handled it like a 12 yo kid accused of stealing from his Mom's purse.

Square-Panted Sponge Robert (VegemiteGrrrl), Wednesday, 1 December 2010 00:53 (fourteen years ago)

Jim Everett was actually pretty good QB at one point, who just seemed to fall apart. They won the NFC West a couple of times, pretty much the last good LA Rams team with him, Eric Dickerson, and Henry Ellard.

earlnash, Wednesday, 1 December 2010 00:57 (fourteen years ago)

Everett was QB when Flipper Anderson had that amazing game iirc

macaroni rascal (polyphonic), Wednesday, 1 December 2010 00:58 (fourteen years ago)

Jim Everett is also another QB out of Purdue, who have put a crazy amount of PRO-QBs into the game considering they haven't really been 'great' in college football since the early 70s/late 60s for the most part.

earlnash, Wednesday, 1 December 2010 00:58 (fourteen years ago)

It's bizarre to me that any team would start Derek Anderson if they had anybody else at the QB position. Christ has Arizona sunk to new depths.

mc souleye (brownie), Wednesday, 1 December 2010 01:04 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, Purdue is like this weird QB factory.

mc souleye (brownie), Wednesday, 1 December 2010 01:05 (fourteen years ago)

I dunno, I think if my team stunk and my QB was yukking it up on the sidelines on MNF I'd like to see him called into account.

yeah he was asked, and he said that the other guy was telling him something to keep him positive or keep his spirits up or whatever. perfectly fine explanation. then the reporter pressed it.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 1 December 2010 01:10 (fourteen years ago)

i still say the reporter was a dbag, basically because those two dudes had a quick single moment and no one really knows what the context was. derek could have just been smiling like "can you believe this shit?" the problem with a lot of local sports guys is they're attack dogs w/a madonna/whore complex about the players they follow and they're quick to paint certain guys who don't play well not only as poor players but bad people, and guys who are incredible players can be forgiven the occasional lapse. i dunno, since none of us know what it was it was kinda bullshit. imo it was espn trying to create a story in a shitty, shitty game and if they'd caught peyton manning smiling on the sideline during the last seconds of the game against the chargers the other night they wouldn't have done that (and no reporter would have called him out on it.)

omar little, Wednesday, 1 December 2010 01:12 (fourteen years ago)

when i saw the slo-mo reply of the non-scandal and gruden being a schoolmarm about it, i was wondering wtf the big deal was. DA looked pretty miserable and barely cracked a smile.

omar little, Wednesday, 1 December 2010 01:14 (fourteen years ago)

Texans @ Eagles- This could end up being a fun shootout game, as Philly's defense is getting a bit bangged up. That said, I could also see Vick running rampant on them. Eagles should win this one.
Saints @ Bengals- Bengals might as well just forfeit. Haven't seen them for bupkus all year on TV, as they are not selling out (except on the field). Saints do seem to play down to their competition, but they BETTER be able to handle this bunch of clowns. Saints it is.
Bears @ Lions- I'm taking the Bears to win, but this is a trap game if I ever saw one as I could believe that Detroit defensive line could cause havoc.
49ers @ Packers- The Packers are probably fatally flawed with their running game, but I can't see Troy Smith putting 20+ points up against the Green Bay defense. Pack to win.
Jaguars @ Titans- The Titans have fell off the wall. They were dominating some clubs early this year. Collins might be back this week, but the Jags have been pretty spunky and they 'could' win the AFC South. I'll take Jacksonville.
Broncos @ Chiefs- I'll take the Chiefs. This game should be good and nasty, even with the Broncos sucking, it could be a fun one to watch.
Browns @ Dolphins- Hard pick... I'll take the Dolphins at home.
Bills @ vikings- Vikings in a nailbiter. God can be cruel and Vikings listen to no-one but Odin.
Redskins @ NYG- Giants but I worry about them playing stupid. Good thing they are playing Washington.
Raiders @ Chargers- I love the Raiders, but they don't have the horsepower on offense to complete. Chargers should win, only chance they don't is if they give up a couple of TDs on turnovers and/or returns.
Cowboys @ Colts- Damn this is kind of a tough one, as I think Indy is pretty wounded and Dallas is at least playing a heck of alot less stupid (see Redskins vs. Giants). Hurts me to say, but give me the Cowboys in an upset.
Rams @ Cardinals- I'll take the Rams but I don't know if I believe in them (missed a road win for them last week, believing they couldn't get it done).
Panthers @ Seahawks- Fugly game...don't care give me Seattle.
Falcons @ Bucs- I'll take the Falcons, but this looks like a big ole' trap game. Bucs should come out fired up. Color me impressed if they win.
Steelers @ Ravens- blood and thunder bluster bowl. I don't know who is going to win, give me the Ravens at home as I think the Steelers are getting banged up on their lines a bit.
NYJ @ Patriots- Either team wins and the rest of the NFL fans lose, as they have to be the biggest bunch of obnoxious fans in football
for both of these clubs. Give me the Pats, but I hope they both terribly mortal wound each other. Big win for the Jets if they can go into NE and pull this one off.

I'm on a roll, 13-3 last week, for the year 115-61.

earlnash, Wednesday, 1 December 2010 01:14 (fourteen years ago)

I can't stand to listen to the Jim Rome show anymore unless Jay Mohr is guest hosting :/

mc souleye (brownie), Wednesday, 1 December 2010 01:15 (fourteen years ago)

Anyway, I'm still trying to figure out the Browns playoff chances if they run the table such is my degradation.

mc souleye (brownie), Wednesday, 1 December 2010 01:16 (fourteen years ago)

well, they're running into the mighty dolphins buzzsaw this week so . . .

Daniel, Esq., Wednesday, 1 December 2010 01:17 (fourteen years ago)

Bengals might as well just forfeit. Haven't seen them for bupkus all year on TV, as they are not selling out

whoa, I had no idea their games were being blacked out

mc souleye (brownie), Wednesday, 1 December 2010 01:18 (fourteen years ago)

dolphins buzzsaw

i'm looking forward to this game as I haven't seen a Dolphins game in years

Daniel, Esq., Wednesday, 1 December 2010 01:22 (fourteen years ago)

yeah I bet ;) but still the Dolphins are one of those mysterious teams that are never on TV in Clevo. They are the exotic other.

mc souleye (brownie), Wednesday, 1 December 2010 01:28 (fourteen years ago)

i hear there's another miami/cleveland game of some sort this week . . .
