That high point will come tonight, when Kerry is to accept his party's nomination in a speech that will frame his candidacy for many Americans, the vast majority of whom polls show still do not know much about the four-term Massachusetts senator.

The hip-hop band Black-Eyed Peas excited the crowd last night with its hit "Let's Get it Started," before delegates cast their official votes during a state-by-state roll call to nominate Kerry for president.

I would not want to be anyone playing Baltimore for the next four weeks. They are pissed off, relatively healthy, and need to win all of their games to ensure a playoff berth. I weep for opposing players. Terrel Suggs may kill someone within the next four games.

Last week still rolling 13-3, 128-64 for the year.

Colts at Titans (TNF) - I'm taking the Colts to win, as this is a must win.
Browns at Bills- I'm taking the Browns, but I could believe a let down in Buffalo.
Packers at Lions- Packers should win.
Giants at Vikings- I'll take the Giants, but if they turn over the ball, I'd believe the Vikings could give them a game.
Bengals at Steelers- Steelers are getting really nicked up, but the Bengals are the land of the lost.
Buccaneers at Redskins- Bucs but this could be a trap game even with Washington being a bit of a clown franchise.
Falcons at Panthers- Falcons need the win and should not let down to these guys.
Raiders at Jaguars- Kind of a BIG game, which is something you would not figure for an Oaktown/J-ville week 14 game. I'll take the Jags, but if they turn the ball over a couple of times, it could be interesting. I'd maybe go with Oaktown a bit more but they are in the lower half of the league in giving up rushing yards.
Rams at Saints- Saints should win, but the Rams might make it interesting.
Seahawks at 49ers- Someone is going to win the NFC West, winning this game would help either club. Seattle kind of sucks, but they win this one they are going to take the 'lead' in the division. Good luck to the team that wins the west playing some 12-4 club that doesnt.
Dolphins at Jets- Jets need to bounce back. If they flop, I could see them sliding off the table.
Patriots at Bears- Damn I hope the Bears win, really I hope they take the Pats OUT, but c'mon, logic says take the Pats.
Broncos at Cardinals- Who knows...I guess the Broncos are not going to be playing a 4th string QB, so I'll take Denver.
Chiefs at Chargers- I like the Chiefs, but I figure the Chargers bounce back and smack them down.
Eagles at Cowboys (SNF)- Eagles but this will be a better game than you might have figured a month ago.
Ravens at Texans (MNF)- Ravens are going to pound them.

If Fisher is still coaching the Titans, I would not be suprised at all Hanesworth ends up back in Nashville. There was talk of them getting Washington to eat the deal earlier and send him back again.

If Fisher is still coaching the Titans, I would not be suprised at all Hanesworth ends up back in Nashville. There was talk of them getting Washington to eat the deal earlier and send him back again.

For a brief sec, I thought you meant they were going to trade Nate Washington for Haynesworth.

Pleasant Plains, Tuesday, 7 December 2010 23:04 (fourteen years ago)

They should have never signed the guy to that much cash, considering the background...but that is the Redskins fault. When Shanahan was hired and they were going to run a 3-4 and not need a huge DT, they should have just dealt him last summer. Now they pretty much have corroded any value he might have had and more likely than not are going to end up having to pay him most of the money that is owed. The dude is a bit nuts, but hey the dude also had his brother die also in the middle of all this BS.

I'm sure a guy like Hanesworth would probably be fine playing for the Ravens, as they run that kind of 4-3 and have that kind of macho shit defense that he might thrive within. Thing is that B-more isn't stupid on the money, so to deal him there, Washington would have had to ate a big part of the contract. No matter what, they still are going to have to pay. Bucs made a big deal on k-shawn, but as the guy likes to remind on the football shows every now and then, Tampa ended up having to pay him.

It's lame he lied down on his club, but some of these guys are pretty damaged and when they get into the wrong situation, they just shut down. I don't doubt that Hanesworth gets into a place where he feels comfortable, all the sudden the dude might be a beastly DT again. DT seem to have hang around a bit longer than some positions anyway, age wise.

earlnash, Tuesday, 7 December 2010 23:08 (fourteen years ago)

i can't imagine they're dumping Fisher. Young, sure. And i get the impression Haynesworth left scorched earth based on nashville press at the time? Maybe i misremember?

Square-Panted Sponge Robert (VegemiteGrrrl), Wednesday, 8 December 2010 01:23 (fourteen years ago)

this is kind of incredibly amazing

Outside linebacker Tamba Hali, whose sack output has risen from 8.5 in a full season last year to 10 so far this year, attributes the sack gain to Joe Kim, a Taekwondo instructor retained by the Chiefs to work on martial-arts moves the defenders can do to keep offensive hands off them as they try to rush. That, plus speed. On Sunday, Hali beat one of the best left tackles in football, Ryan Clady, around the corner to strip-sack Kyle Orton and recover the ball.

I cannot believe the Bears are 9-3. There was serious talk last month about whether or not they were one of the worst teams to ever start 5-3. Some Bears thought the team would probably end up 7-9 despite a hot start, which included a bunch of close victories and wins vs. teams that were completely dysfunctional. They seem to have gotten all the breaks so far this season...now suddenly they are playing well. http://i54.tinypic.com/1j14s2.jpg actually looks like who the Bears thought they were. The Week 17 game at Lambeau should be epic. And despite being a Packer fan, I find myself liking them somehow. http://i54.tinypic.com/1j14s2.jpg is just too entertaining to watch. As bad as he can be he is one hell of a tough cookie. He's probably taken twice as many pulverizing hits as your average starting QB.

Giants have to lose tonight. I'm already disgusted by this, "They spent this crazy weekend playing cards and just getting to know each other as guys" storyline. If they win and suddenly "have the huge momentum of their difficult week away from home which they hard fought won" storylines it'll be too much to bear. ("they won against the vikings shiny incredible new qb tarvaris lolhatcat jackson")
