11-5 last week, 124-84 on the season

49ers at Chargers (TNF) - Chargers win, coaches start mailing resumes to San Francisco.
Browns at Bengals - Browns
Redskins at Cowboys - The Redskins have collapsed in every conceivable way. So...lolCowboys.
Texans at Titans - Texans
Jaguars at Colts - Taking the Jags to tie up the AFC South with a win here.
Chiefs at Rams - Tentatively picking the Rams while awaiting word of Cassel's status.
Bills at Dolphins - I think Dolphins, which means the Bills will win.
Eagles at Giants - Eagles
Lions at Buccaneers - Bucs
Saints at Ravens - Saints do it.
Cardinals at Panthers - Cards do it (ugly).
Falcons at Seahawks - Despite being on the opposite coast, Falcons on the road.
Broncos at Raiders - Raiders (again, but not by the same margin as before).
Jets at Steelers - Steelers
Packers at Patriots (SNF) - Pats
Bears at Vikings (MNF) - Bears

49ers at Chargers (TNF)- Chargers but I think the Niners could give them a decent game.
Browns at Bengals - Browns, the Bengals are in the land of the lost. I don't get some of Cincy fans thinking dumping Carson Palmer would be the 'fix' for what is wrong. Oh well, if they go that way I'm sure Minnesota or some other borderline decent club that needs a somewhat competant QB who I wouldn't suprise all the sudden gets very good again will be happy. Good luck trying to win with some dregs or bringing back Kitna or some other damn Mike Brown foolishness.
Redskins at Cowboys - Cowboys I suppose.
Texans at Titans- Who knows...both of these clubs fell of the wall hard about 5 weeks into the season and haven't got their mojo back. Give me the Texans, as they might be able to build a 2 score lead early.
Jaguars at Colts- the Jville and Indy games have been really physicial over the past years. I'm taking the Colts at home, but I won't be suprised if the Jags win.
Chiefs at Rams- I'll take the Chiefs even if the Brodster is the qb.
Bills at Dolphins- I'll take the Dolphins, but if the Bills get up a td or two early they will win.
Eagles at Giants- Giants, as the Eagles defense is getting knicked up.
Lions at Buccaneers- Bucs but the Lions could make this one interesting.
Saints at Ravens- It's a bigger game for the Ravens, as I think NO is probably a bit safer for the wild card than the rest. I'm taking the Ravens as they are due to win a big one. If they lose this one, I don't know. It will be interesting to see how NO does in this one.
Cardinals at Panthers- Ugly and Fugly -- give me Arizona.
Falcons at Seahawks- Falcons but Seattle can be trap city.
Broncos at Raiders- Broncos are making the Bengals look like the Pats in the effort dept., give me the Silver and Black to win.
Jets at Steelers- Jets are going down in flames. Steelers are pretty banged up but it is much funnier watching the Jets fall apart. Pittsburgh to win.
Packers at Patriots (SNF) - Pats, until proven wrong...which I don't know can happen at this point.
Bears at Vikings (MNF)- I'm taking the Bears, but this one could get weird.

Last week 11-5, for the year 139-69

It was a pretty weird start to the year on who was any good, but really, it has gotten much more predictable for the last 4-6 weeks.

Tannenbaum said Alosi acted alone, that he wasn't told by anyone in the organization to instruct players to stand in a line. Addressing the media Monday, Alosi claimed he wasn't instructed by anyone to create a human wall.

Cumberland backed that stance when asked if anyone else asked him to stand in the line. "Just Sal," he said.

Tannenbaum and coach Rex Ryan both insisted Monday that the players aren't coached to do that.

A new kind of NFL scoring: adding music to TV game coverage.

Don't laugh. Fox will formally announce today that it will do that on its regional Arizona Cardinals-Carolina Panthers game Sunday (1 p.m. ET) after an unannounced test on last week's Seattle Seahawks-San Francisco 49ers game. Fox Sports President Eric Shanks on whether such soundtracks will pop up on Fox's upcoming Super Bowl: "It's a possibility."

Given you're bombarded with mood-prompting music in TV shows, ads and movies — and in stadiums and arenas during games — it's seems inevitable that sideline shots of, say, Bill Belichick could end up being accentuated by Lady Gaga's Poker Face. That's Jay-Z's I Know What Girls Like taking us inside the heads of kickers who just made game-winning field goals. Cue It's Raining Men as players run out of tunnels. Everything going wrong for a team? Who you gonna call?Ghostbusters!

Fox's Shanks says game playlists could include famous artists — "the rule is you use it just once and don't edit it" — but will also draw on original medleys. For Sunday's game, Fox has 15 new cuts from James Cardoni, who has composed music for the prime-time show CSI.

But having cuts you'd hear in movies, like spooky chords when babysitters find out the calls are coming from inside the house, is one thing. Knowing when to use them is another. "This is all in the execution," Shanks says. "Just like music in movies, you have to use it at the right times. And imagine trying to score a movie the first time you're seeing it." Plus, he says, announcers during last week's test game needed to get their groove on "to get a feel whether to keep talking or let the music build the suspense or drama for the next play."

Asked if NFL games might cross-promote Fox movies by using their theme songs, Shanks says "We haven't gotten that far, but that's really interesting. Have an NFL '70s night when American Idol has a '70s night? Maybe there's cross-promotion there." And purists really shouldn't write off this idea until, say, they see a holding replay set to Your Cheatin' Heart.

FUCK YOU FOX

Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Friday, 17 December 2010 16:52 (fourteen years ago)

As long as the only song they ever ever use is the intro to "Jump Into the Fire" by Nilsson, I'll be all right with this.

18-game season. Musically enhanced games on television. Blah blah blah.

If the NFL keeps going this direction, I guarantee college ball is going to resurge in popularity.

Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Friday, 17 December 2010 17:05 (fourteen years ago)

Worst idea ever.

Square-Panted Sponge Robert (VegemiteGrrrl), Friday, 17 December 2010 17:14 (fourteen years ago)

i would say i'm surprised but the nba allows arenas to play actual songs during games too so matter of time i guess

return of the nakh (J0rdan S.), Friday, 17 December 2010 17:16 (fourteen years ago)

And of course it's FOX. You know what'd be even more awesome? One of those scroll screens running down one side that shows everyone's tweets or texts about the game, like they do on that late night music video show on Fuse that shows ppls OMg TeXTS Abt FaV3 mUzIK!!!!! And then everyone gets their own loaded gun to put in their mouth.

FFS people. Come on.

Who exactly did the Broncos choose with those picks? I haven't been able to figure it out. It looks like they might have traded some off.

earlnash, Tuesday, 21 December 2010 03:55 (fourteen years ago)

Not a whole lot of people gave the Bears a shot at winning their division, but at 10-4 it is done.

They are 6-1 on the road.

That said, I still think the Bears and Jets game will have a playoff feel. If the Bears win out they will get a first week bye, as they have the tie-breaker over the Eagles.
